“The property was in good condition except there was mold around the bifold doors and the shower window.”

We had to clean the mold on the lounge and the bedroom. The main mattress was in need of a change - far too soft. Also the windows in the.lounge were not clean - fingerprints/suction cup marks(!)

So sorry that you felt the property disappointed. As it is thoroughly cleaned every week we can only assume that any 'mold' was probably the slight chemical degeneration and corrosion caused by the sea air which does affect most structures in Cornwall. The windows are also regularly washed by a window cleaner and by Brian in between guests - so once again (as mentioned in our helpful visitors information book) weather conditions do greatly impact the visibility of the windows from time to time. Regarding the mattress - which are changed every couple of years, and as you will appreciate, we cannot suit every bodies individual personal requirements, so op for a good quality medium / firm authopedic one. As we are only next door for any problems you may have incurred during your stay, which could have been resolved/discussed when speaking with Brian. We are only too pleased to help our guests with anything they need. Your comments are noted, which however do not reflect the 122 excellent references previously posted!! Beach (steep footpath), 300 yards; hotel restaurant/bar, 200 yards. Large kitchen/dining room (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, gas hob/electric oven) open to living room with TV/DVD, that superb elevated view over the beach, and balustrade; loo.

Stairs (stairgate) down to two bedrooms - a double (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite), sea views (balustrade) and external steps down to the terrace, and another double with day bed and en suite shower-room (suite).

About the location

MAWGAN PORTH

Watergate Bay 2 miles; Newquay 5 miles; Padstow 10 miles.

Nestled between Newquay and Padstow on the beautiful north Cornish coast, Mawgan Porth is a sheltered cove with golden sandy beach, great surf and plenty of caves and coastal footpath to explore. With little distraction from its golden sands, life here revolves around the beach. Laze in the summer sun, learn to ride the waves, or watch over stormy seas on a refreshing cliff top stroll. Mawgan Porth is also home to the fabulous adults-only Scarlet Hotel, which offers Spa treatments and facilities to non-residents - and nearby there is a wealth of fine dining restaurants such as Paul Ainsworth's No 6 and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. Mawgan Porth has a handful of shops, including a village store and deli, and a farm shop selling locally sourced meat, eggs, vegetables, bread and pasties, as well as tennis courts, a pitch and putt, and an 18-hole golf course overlooking the Atlantic.
