“The farmhouse is perfect for large families,Ten of us went, three generations including four children between five and thirteen and a dog.”

A lovely location, good kitchen facilities and a boot room. We loved it.

The property

½ mile from Millbrook and ½ mile from the big sandy beach at Whitsand Bay (cliff path) is Tregonhawke Farmhouse, the origins of which go back to the 16th cent..

It has been a family home for generations and has survived much turbulent history.

To one side is a pretty enclosed garden (table/chairs, barbecue) with large lawn.

Mature trees and farmland surround it and about 300 yards away is a coarse fishing lake (carp, tench, roach, rudd, bream and perch - some as large as 25lbs.Inside, a lovely roomy family home.

Access from the garden to porch (for coats/boots, tumble drier, freezer) to big kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge, range-style cooker) with table/chairs/benches in the middle.

Equally big living room with open fire, TV/DVD.

Across a slate-floored hall, a children’s room with TV/DVD and lots of toys, leading through to a downstairs double bedroom with door to garden.

Shower-room (suite) and separate loo. From the hall, stairs up to five more bedrooms - a double plus single, a double, a twin with 5'6" lintel, another twin, and a single - all individual and prettily done.

Upstairs, two bathrooms (suites, one with shower over bath).

About the location

Whitsand Bay 1 mile; Plymouth 8 miles.

Set in a bowl of hills at the head of a tidal creek that leads to the Hamoaze, opposite the great naval city of Plymouth, Millbrook is located on the Rame Peninsula, "Cornwall's Forgotten Corner". Bounded by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea, the area is deeply rural and designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The village has a good range of shops and pubs, while close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you to Plymouth. Along the southern edges of the peninsula are miles of beautiful walks with glorious views of Rame Head. Just a mile south of Millbrook lies Whitsand Bay with its miles of uncrowded sandy RNLI patrolled beach and dramatic cliffs. A superb base for discovering the wild side of Cornwall.

Note: Beach parking available in owner's field above Whitsand Bay, by arrangement. 'Day care' for dogs available. Arrival after 4pm. This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250

Note: No Stag or Hen parties

Fishing at the lake will no longer be free to guests. We are restricting fishing to 5 paying customers with nobody else accompanying. Booking and payment for fishing (£10 per person per day with access only between 0800 and 1800 hours) must be made in advance. There will be not refund of payment if the person decides to cancel.
