“We had such a lovely holiday at Idlewild and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.”
From the moment we arrived, it felt like somewhere we could properly relax and enjoy being together as a family.

The cottage is incredibly spacious, which made such a difference for the five of us. There was plenty of room to spread out without ever feeling on top of each other, and the whole place was beautifully comfortable. The beds, bedding and towels were all excellent quality, and the facilities really were fantastic — everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay was there. Having two bathrooms was perfect for our family of five.
The kitchen deserves a special mention too. It was so well equipped that we happily ate at the cottage on five of our seven nights, with the other two spent enjoying the lovely restaurants in the village. There was plenty of parking and having an electric car charger at the property was an added bonus and incredibly convenient.
We particularly loved the balcony. It’s a real sun trap and became our favourite spot to sit and read during the day, or play games together in the evening. It was lovely having somewhere to sit outside and simply enjoy the time together.
And then there’s St Agnes itself, which we absolutely fell in love with. It’s such a beautiful, pretty village and we loved our little morning walks to the bakery for fresh croissants and bread. There are some lovely independent shops and a great selection of cafés and restaurants, so there was always something to wander out for. One of our favourite things was being able to take a short walk from the cottage to watch the most incredible sunsets — something we’ll definitely remember from the holiday.
The welcome at Idlewild was also so thoughtful. Arriving to fresh scones, cream and jam, along with a lovely selection of tea and coffee, was such a lovely touch after the journey and immediately made us feel at home.
We’ve stayed in lots of holiday cottages over the years, but Idlewild really stood out. It’s comfortable, spacious, beautifully maintained and has clearly been thought through with guests in mind. More than anything, though, it gave us a wonderful base for a really special family holiday.
We were genuinely sad to leave and would absolutely love to come back. A truly five-star stay — thank you for making our holiday so lovely.
