“I would highly recommend this shepherds hut to anyone who wants a private, relaxing, stress-free holiday in a lovely part of Cornwall.”

For once, the place in person was better than the photos online! The owners had amazing attention to detail to make the most of the space in the hut. There were baskets at the end of the bed to put out belongings in and a lot of space under the bed for bags/ suitcases etc. The hut was very clean and came equipped with everything we would need while staying there. All cooking and cleaning equipment was provided and we didn’t feel like we were missing anything needed during our stay. The ...

All cooking and cleaning equipment was provided and we didn’t feel like we were missing anything needed during our stay. The hot tub and outdoor space was magical! The hot tub was really easy to use and the owners showed us how to use it and assured us that we can ask for help if we needed. The parking area is off road and secure, the place was very easy to get to. A lovely touch was having tea and coffee as well as a small bottle of milk (possibly from their farm!) so we could have a hot drink once we got there if we wanted to. Overall, an extremely positive experience! This hut made our holiday so much better especially with the location being so convenient to drive to popular spots nearby. I am very impressed with everything and can’t find any faults. If you’re wondering whether or not to choose this place to stay on your Cornish holiday, I’m here to say do it!! Thank you to the owners again for all your help and kindness, and I’ve already gotten my parents to book!! :)

“We had a wonderful stay at Orchid, where host Peter was very helpful and just a phone call away.”

The little place was charming, featuring a hot tub, peaceful surroundings, and a secluded setting. It was spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a cozy stay. The fridge was small, so I recommend not bringing foods that require refrigeration. We enjoyed a comfortable visit. It took us some time to learn how to set the right temperature for the hot tub, since it works on a log fire, which we weren't used to. The water in the shower was slightly warm, but it didn't bother us; I believe Peter would have been happy to fix it if we asked. Overall, it’s a very nicely arranged little place, especially loved the log fire inside. The only improvement I’d suggest is a better way into Orchid through the farm. Bring some wellies if you're there during the rainy season, as it did get our shoes wet walking to and from the car. Perhaps a short pathway could fix this, but I also understand that being surrounded by nature is part of the experience. We highly recommend this place.

“This was far to small,damp inside hut.”

Nowhere to sit, impossible to cook a meal.had to walk across a muddy green to get to it.wet feet every time you went out,when dark had to walk across the muddy wet green 100yrd in pitch black, lights were there but did not work. HOT TUB WAS WONDERFUL

“The shepherds hut was in an idyllic and private setting.”

While we accept that the huts are small and space limited they are barely practical for two people. Ideal for summer use where better weather allows for more carefree use of the hut and facilities. We had very heavy rain which walks into the living space, also the steps need a handrail as they are slippery and dangerous in their current form. Yes we were advised that the steps would be slippery but this doesn’t really excuse this fact. There needs to be more hard standing around the entrance and between the hot tub and deck area to prevent grass and mud going into the living area. We spent most of the time wiping the floor down to keep it looking respectable. Cooking facilities are quite primitive, largely dictated by the size of the property, yes there is a hot plate which you could cook breakfast but not really any substantial evening meals. If there had been a gas BBQ located in the covered deck area this would have allowed more flexibility when cooking.

“Wow! What a beautiful set-up!”

I was travelling alone from NZ for a school re-union and to see friends and family and needed a sanctuary to return to at the end of the day! That is just what I got! It is a beautiful location, quiet and tranquil, surrounded by nature, whilst easy access to facilities if needed. The Hut has everything you need. They have thought of everything. Stylish, comfortable and practical at the same time. And the hot tub was the icing on the cake! What a lovely way to end the day! Thank you, thank you!

“5 Stars – A Wonderful Cabin Escape!”

We had an amazing stay at this cozy and peaceful log cabin. It was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. One of the highlights was the private hot tub—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The owners are lovely, left us fresh milk, and the hut had everything in it you could need for your stay including a small stove and kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery. The bed was comfy and the shower and toilet clean. We LOVED getting into the wood fired hot tub every night watching the sun set over the fields. Pure bliss. “My husband and I decided to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary at this place and we were happy with our decision 100%!”

We haven’t been away from kids and haven’t spent time just two of us for nine years. And wanted a secluded, quiet and romantic place with a hot tub and fire pit. We got all what we wanted and hosts were so welcoming and hospitable! We felt looked after and at the same time without any pressure or feeling that anyone is around. We enjoyed fire pit and got wood supply without any limit and we appreciated that this hut had everything one needs for a getaway like that. It was cosy, warm, sparkling clean and very comfortable everywhere. It has all a couple needs for a romantic stay! Bed sheets were fresh and crispy and plates, cutlery and cooking appliances were hug quality and it was nice to eat and drink using them. Hot tub was amazing! It gave us couple of hours of joy and pleasure sitting watching stars and enjoying silence and listening to music! Loved every minute there and I agree with other reviewers that this is a place to remember and keep coming back to. It’s definitely on our list to come back when we get another chance! Lovely place! “The shepherds hut was situated in a nice location with plenty of privacy.”

The owners were very friendly and helpful during our stay even though we only saw them at the beginning of our stay. They ensured that there was plenty of wood for the stove and hot tub and were easily contacted if required. The only small drawback was the sound of the dairy farm from around 5am but that is to be expected when staying in a rural place! We would highly recommend this place for a relaxing holiday!!!

It is presented so nicely, and it's fully equipped, even down to the bath robes for the hop, skip and jump to the delightful hot hub! Outside is well equipped also, positioned right next to the glorious orchard, with views across the open fields. It was lovely to relax in the evening enjoying the tranquillity of the location and the warmth of the flames from the fire pit. Pete, the owner, was there to greet us too, it was so lovely to meet him, and he made us feel so welcome.....thank you Pete. “We loved our stay at orchard!”

The hot tub was also very relaxing. The fridge broke a few days in through overheating, however it was on the hottest week of the year so its understandable. Plus the owners went out of their way to store our goods (holidays presents) in their fridge or an empty caravan fridge, which was very much appreciated. Only one niggle would be the bushes/trees could have done with a trim, allowing a bit more light and viewing out from the decking. If you're a city dweller and aren't used to driving rural roads be warned, they are tight! But so worth it :) We would love to go back!

“We had a wonderful stay, the setting is gorgeous, the hut was incredibly well kept and had everything we could need in it, the hot tub was really relaxing and keeping it going ourselves with the log burner was actually quite fun.”

We had a great time using the hut as a base when we went out in the day before coming back in the evening, the sheltered outside area was a nice touch and allowed us to have dinner outside most nights. The only tiniest quibble I could have and this is picky, the front door of the hut was very stiff, and pushing it closed enough to lock required really putting your shoulder in, fine for us we're fairly young, but I can imagine an older couple struggling with it. That's it though, otherwise we had a perfect little escape and we will definitely be back in the future.

“Just love this place.”

This was our second stay here and it was every bit as good as we remembered. Beautiful shepherd's hut, with everything you need for a peaceful, relaxing holiday. The new decking area meant you could find a spot to relax in the sun, or cool off in the shade, from early morning to late evening. It's set in the perfect location for beautiful walks along the camel trail. There's plenty of places locally to visit, if you care tear yourself away from the farm. Would love to return but with prices doubling for the same week next year we may have to save up for a while first.

“Such a magical spot;having a hot tub whilst watching the stars was an utterly delicious experiences that even a force ten gale and torrential rain couldn’t detract from.”

The shower was a bit tricksy to get the temperature right but this a very minor issue and hugely outweighed by everything else that was so lovely and so right about the experience. Can also heartily recommend lunch at Prawn On The Lawn.

“We returned from a long weekend break last weekend at the Orchard, on arrival we was greeted by Peter who was friendly and very helpful and took us to our shepherds hut which was spotlessly clean, already warmed up with the log burner on ready for our arrival and the hot tub was ready to use too, there was a delicious home made cake and flowers in the cabin and bathrobes and towels with endless supply of logs, the bed was so comfy we had the best sleep there.”

our stay was on the weekend when the storm Dennis hit Cornwall but the hut stayed warm and cosy. we will be returning as we had such a lovely stay, its the perfect peaceful retreat. Thanks again to Mr and Mrs Hodges who are fabulous hosts

We were made to feel welcome and were looked after during the time of our stay by the very friendly owners. The little touches that Mr and Mrs Hodge put in place made it extra special. Log burner and wood fired hot tub lit and ready for our arrival and supply of logs, Tea, coffee, milk and biscuits very nicely presented for us to enjoy a cuppa, hot water bottles in the bed to warm the bed for us and fresh flowers on the table. We are definitely going back and are looking to book again for in 2020 and want to book for Christmas 2020. Amazing little Gem of a working Dairy Farm to have the pleasure of staying at. Would highly recommend

“Total relaxation!”

So peaceful, only the stars and the wind in the trees. Wood fired hot tub was great fun and the wood burner kept us cosy, so we were environmentally friendly and had fun! Everything you need in the shepherds hut and some thoughtful extra touches such as the binoculars. Bathroom has all you would expect and a proper hot shower, so no roughing it here.

“It was the best weve had.”

Having travelled worldwide to many exotic places this was the best. The shepherds hut with hot tub was perfect. It was comfortable, peaceful, private and clean. We woke in the morning after a superb sleep, to see Deer, fox, barn owl and rabbits in the field next door. Wildlife was abundant with many birds coming for their feed. Each day we visited attractions that we found excellent, from Port Isaac to Lost Gardens of Heligan, Charlestown to Tintagel and Wheal Martyn Claypits to Padstow. Nothing dissapointed, but too much good food and cream Teas will have to be worked off over next few weeks. Overall an absolutely fantastic holiday, wish it had been two weeks now.

“The directions to locate the location were poor.”

The hut was 60 meters from the parking area over a uneven field which was obviously previously a cattle pasture, prior notice of this would be useful ,a path closely mowed would be helpful. We enjoyed our stay and only mention the above to be helpful for future guests

Orchard is a unique sheperd's hut, decorated to a sumptuous standard and resting amidst the countryside of north Cornwall, close to stunning Wadebridge.

Boasting welcoming studio accommodation with a woodburner, as well as a superb outdoor area with plenty of furniture and a hot tub, this is a superb stay for couples looking to escape to the country in style.

A number of Cornwall's popular tourist spots are easy to reach from here, Padstow and Newquay are accessible by car and promise unforgettable visits.

Pengelly Farm Shepherd Huts
