Cottage in need of a lot of TLC.

Paint work dirty in places, plus a lot of dust and cobwebs. Cooker extractor fan was so greasy, you could smell it on entry to cottage. Old kitchen appliances except dishwasher. Front garden and back yard need making a bit more pleasant to sit in. Some of windows have condensation in them. On a plus side the beds were comfortable and clean. Showers were good with constant hot water.

Another fantastic holiday at Vi's Valley View - our third in the last 4 years.

Comfortable, clean, spacious, and welcoming as on previous occassions. Wanted for nothing. Noticed new heaters in every room and excellent heated towel rails which are so good they will double as heaters. Looked at previous reviews and well done to the owners for addressing the alleged heating problem, although we never had any issues. Likewise, now responsive lighting in the rear courtyard. Splendid property, we will not hesitate to return.

This was our third visit to the cottage, which tells you how much we love staying there.

There were a couple of things ( this is not a complaint, but feedback is important). When we came the first time, There were extra blankets. There were also plenty of towels for the dog, we had everything we could possibly need. We came again in September and noticed a couple of things different- no dog towels. We mentioned it to the cleaner who arrived as we were leaving, who was very surprised and said she was sure the towels should have been there. Whilst not a huge thing, our next visit, again, no towels, so we needed to make a trip to Asda, as we felt it very unfair to bring our dog into the house after walks up in the woods and beach. Our main concern was the cold. The main bedroom was ok with the heater turned up, but the second bedroom was an ice block, and the second bathroom was so cold we couldn't use it. The bedroom heater was on at the wall, but ice- cold and never gave any heat at all. We did use the little fan heater, but obviously we couldn't leave that unattended or on at night. My husband offered to swap duvets ( We sleep separately due to health reasons) but both were summer duvets so there was no point. So another trip was needed to Asda to buy blankets . We used the fire each evening, but had to buy wood. I think, given that there is no heating in the lounge or bedroom, wood/ coal should be supplied. As I said, this is not a complaint, but if there are no dog towels it should be stated so that people can bring there own. I do think the heating should be seen to . I'm sure there are many people who choose, like us to come in cooler months and I have just seen a review from Dec 2025 saying about the cold, so this has obviously not been addressed. As stated before, we love the cottage and these things wouldn't stop us coming back, but they are things that need addressing.

The cottage is in an excellent location, really did have lots of walks on the doorstep which is what we wanted.

Cottage was not as comfortable downstairs as we had expected and we found the downstairs to be really cold, even after spending a-lot on wood to keep the fire lit in the evenings. There was limited hot water for a bath too. Upstairs was lovely, comfy beds and as there were heaters in both bedrooms it was really warm, although 2nd bathroom was again far too cold to use. Outside space to back of the property was poor, I would not call it decking, it was just concrete and I would not sit out there in summer, also no lights out there (that we could find). Sadly due to it being so cold in the cottage we cut the stay short and left 24 hours early. There needs to be additional electric heater downstairs at the very least. Such a shame as we loved the local area and did sleep well as upstairs was warm and comfy, kitchen was cute and had all needed although we ate all meals out.

A delightful cottage, in an idyllic location, peacefull, but nearby essential amenities close by.

Super location for walking, woods up the top of the lane very quiet and ideal for dog walking. Although Pentewan beach is not dog friendly during certain times of the year, there are several other beaches, a short drive away that are, Caerhays a particular favorite and cafe there too. Cottage was clean and tidy on arrival, cream tea awaited us in the fridge, a nice touch. The beds are comfortable, showers excellent, kitchen well equipped, with all we required for a week's stay. Bonus of two car parking spaces, something that is not too frequently found in Cornwall! Overall we were delighted and our second visit to this particular cottage, we would very much like to return again, thank you.

A lovely cottage.. nice and peaceful... location great for walks...

Cleaning left a lot to be desired: 2 of the toilets had hair & urine stains under the seat.

One toilet had been broken and glued back together - surely a replacement bowl should have been fitted? Kitchen bin had not been emptied prior to our arrival and smelled terrible. The underside of the extractor hood in the kitchen was sticky and stained brown with grease. Very dusty beneath cupboards - one chest of drawers had an old pretzel underneath, so floor clearly not cleaned properly. Bath was grubby & had dead insects inside. Sink had soap scum under the coiled plug chain (which had turned green!) Crusty stains from where electric toothbrushes had been stood. Hair from electric shaver on glass shelf in bathroom. On the plus side - kitchen was very well equipped; parking nicely convenient; seating at front of house lovely in the evening.

Absolutely perfect.

There was nothing overlooked. The cottage was literally, home from home. Spotlessly clean on arrival and a cream tea waiting for us. Treats and bowls for the dog. We wanted for nothing. The most peaceful place for a relaxing holiday. Will definitely be back

A lovely comfortable, spacious, and welcoming property full of character.

It had everything we needed for a perfect relaxing holiday. Everyone in the village was very friendly. The food at the Ship Inn and Hub Box (accessable through the campsite) is highly recomended but both need booking, although the Hub Box does do takeaways as well. An excellent holiday all round.

The cottage was lovely & homely with everything you could possibly want.

It was clean & fresh when we got there with some of the usual Cornish cottage issues which was expected. The cottage has 2 double sized bedrooms with 2 bathrooms both with loads of storage, we were really happy with everything. I spent an hour on the first day weeding & cleaning the front garden which was really worth the effort as we had stunning weather all week and sat out every afternoon with a glass of wine looking down into the beautiful valley. I would definitely book this again due to the size cleanliness & location, I could nitpick over small maintenance issues but we had such a lovely week there it really wasn’t an issue to us. We will be booking again for next year ❤️

Property was lovely.

Very disappointed our dog was not allowed on the beach. Having reread the listing it is my error and I should have realised but if I’m booking a pet friendly cottage it would have been nice to know explicitly that your pet is not not allowed on the beach in the village between April and November

My husband and I have visited Cornwall every year for the last 18 years.

We have stayed in a variety of accommodation on each visit, so we generally have an idea of what to look for in a cottage. We were happy with the cleanliness of the cottage, however we did find that the grill pan still had fat in it and we were somewhat disappointed with the state of the outside space. There were lots of weeds (we're aware there has been a lot of rain) it was apparent that the outside areas hadn't been attended to for quite a while. The cottage is called Vi's Valley View, sadly the view was obscured as the double glazed windows in the lounge and the bedroom have blown along with two smaller windows, so looking out of them was a little dreary. In the welcome pack it stated there were dog bowls and treats in the study, neither were found. Not the end of the world I know. We had a query about the access to the outhouse where we could find fuel for the open fire, it said in the Information pack that the contact number for any queries was at the front of the Information pack, it wasn't. Thankfully I was able to find this on the email from our booking with Sykes. We made contact asking how we could access the outhouse and they got back to us 2-3 days later. In our experience the majority of holiday cottages leave a 'Welcome Pack', in these we have had items such as Milk, biscuits, and even a bottle of wine on a couple of occasions. At Vi's cottage we got a welcome pack but on opening it there was 2 dishwasher tab, 2 washing capsules, a cloth, sponge and washing up liquid. Sorry to say we were a little stunned the fact it was called a 'Welcome Pack'!! We found the bed in the main bedroom a too firm for us. On a positive note, we enjoyed our time in Cornwall. The cottage kitchen is well equipped, the lounge very comfortable, great location, good parking 'The Ship' served great food and the locals were very welcoming.

5* a real home from home, fully equipped with everything you need, warm & comfortable. Beach, shop, pubs, takeaways, kids playground on the beach all in a few minutes walk. Drive to Mevagissey 10mins Charlestown 15mins Recommended

What a wonderful place the cottage is just beautiful.

Everything has been thought about kitchen very well stocked, lounge super cozy, Bedrooms very comfortable with lovely bathrooms. Even thought about our pooches with dog biscuits and pooh bags, even down to supplying some old towels in case they needed them. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

We arrived an hour early (3 pm) to see if we could drop some bags off, the cleaner was just leaving and he was happy for us to enter the property.

He stated that another cleaner would be arriving within the hour to make the second bed up with linen and drop off clean towels, however, we did not get the bedding until 21:45 that night after pestering someone called Chris via WhatsApp who told us that there had been issues all day with stock, we then had to make the bed up ourselves. We had a long tiring drive and all we wanted was to get some sleep. The clean towels did not arrive until the next day, so we had to use old towels we found in one of the bedrooms that were labeled for emergency and use with dogs... this is not really acceptable, but we did eventually enjoy our stay.

We had a great stay at the cottage.

It is in a quiet yet convenient location for the coast, shops and nice local pub. We loved the quirky feel of the cottage and attention to detail. We loved having both a living room and dining room plus separate kitchen and the spacious bedrooms, there was ample storage space. The stair to the bedrooms is a bit tight but we got used to it. We would consider returning to this special place!
