Rose Cottage

Lovely cottage and well presented for a Grade2 listed fisherman's cottage.

Easy access to the centre via 50 steps or a road. Comfortable beds and good central heating.

Rose cottage looked fabulous in the photographs but was even more delightful when we actually arrived.

Much bigger than the photos show and location was perfect. Short walk to the harbour and coast path but still tucked away enough to feel relaxing away from the busyness. Would definitely return for another stay and recommend to anyone who loves Mevagissey and all its charms.

Sadly the cottage was not clean at all.

Both bins in the bathrooms had not been emptied from previous clients!! Cobwebs & spiders in wardrobes! We had to clean the fridge as their was mould INSIDE the fridge - I certainly was not putting food into that. General cleanliness was very lacklustre. The oil cloth on the table was black when wiped! The whole house was just very tired, not clean and underwhelming. Very disappointed. I realise it is an old cottage & will be a little crooked in places, that is not an issue. However, not having a front door that is draft proof is no excuse. Heating systems are not practical & it is very damp. The chest of drawers in both double bedrooms are very shallow & not really fit for purpose. I seriously ask the question how many times does Sykes actually check out their cottages as this is a health hazard.

Overall a great holiday property, very well equiped and maintained.

The location was excellent, with easy access to Mevagissey centre and the major benefit of its own parking space. We did find having separate heaters in each room (including bathrooms), with individual on/off switches, not particularly convenient, although we understand it probably keeps electricity costs under control and they did warm up rooms very quickly. We would definitely book it again and recommend it to others.

Love this cottage, our 4th visit Location is great and Mevagissey and is restaurants are the best you’ll find.

There were just a couple of things that stopped us giving the full 5 stars across the board. The bedroom level shower runs either very hot or cold - couldn't achieve and maintain a comfortable temperature. We had difficulty with a couple of the radiators - the towel rail in the upstairs bathroom didn't appear to be working. The inner door handle kept coming off in the step down double bedroom. Overall though, Rose Cottage was a charming, unique experience and we felt fully immersed in a fishing village. We appreciated your generous gift of prosecco and beverages - thank you.

Excellent location with only a short walk down to the harbour, well equipped and nicely presented.

Much bigger than it looks from outside . Try your car for fit before paying on car park, ours is bigger than 4 metres but fit just. Now the not so good, very damp especially the wall adjacent to the stairs, kitchen cupboards, which meant that every cup etc had to be washed before use each time, wooden spoon had actually gone mouldy, as had a collection of cushions under the stairs. We had to put the heating on and open the windows whilst in the cottage to make it tolerable. The bedding and towels were immaculate, but upon leaving I removed the sheets and covers from the main bedroom to discover a stained mattress and pillow protectors. A lovely idea to put a pint of milk in the fridge, not so great that it was sour in fact lumpy despite being within date. The garden is very overgrown and neglected, and needs a good weed and lawn cut, with dirty garden furniture, not just from the rain but coffee/ tea stains on the table, this is such a shame as could be beautiful and such an asset in Mevagessey. Final moan I would suggest that if only 2 people are staying you offer a discount on the price compared to if 6 people where staying. If the damp issue was addressed we wouldn’t hesitate to rebook.

The cottage was perfect, good size, very nicely decorated, felt homely from day one.

Was in a perfect location, with spectacular views from the surprisingly large garden.

Beautiful view of the sea from one of the bedrooms. Lovely decking area. Very well placed. Very narrow and steep roads leading to the house - we used the car park which was fine and the man there was very helpful.

The four of us had a fantastic stay the cottage was described exactly how it was.

We had difficulty operating the cooker hob but soon sorted by our contacts assistant, excellent service. The only query was that there were a couple of bulbs not working.

Comfy cottage, well equipped, easy walk into town.

Couldn’t leave a review in the property as I had forgotten a pen but we had the best few days at Rose Cottage!

What a beautiful little house. Comfortable, clean, well maintained with everything that you could wish for. Thank you for the lovely bottle of Prosecco and the thoughtful milk, it was really appreciated. We will definitely be back to stay again!

Damp is a real problem.

The smell is much worse than last year. There is a large patch in the dining room that has not been cleaned and is black and blooming. One of the single beds fell apart. My son was laying on it and rolled over and the slats fell out the bottom. We moved him to the other bed which we weren’t using and after some anxiety about being safe he was able to go to sleep. The cottage is lovely really but unless something can be done about the damp and the beds repaired or replaced we won’t return to this one.

The cottage was lovely.

Attractive, nautical decor, and comfortable furniture apart from the second double bed which was no good for my husband's elderly back. (We used the two double rooms because one of us snores!), We couldn't get the underfloor heating (which was included in the cottage description) to work but the heating was efficient anyway. Everything we needed was there though, and we would definitely recommend Rose Cottage, as we have already done to our niece and family. It had two shower/loos and a parking space which is like gold in small Cornish fishing villages. A excellent location too, as a short flight of steps at the side of the cottage leads straight to a general store, tea room, restaurants, several pubs and the harbour. It all added up to a very enjoyable week.

Great place to explore Mevagissey and Cornwall with cosy comfort to return back to after days out.

Comfortable clean cottage, with ample parking space for a Ford Puma with the following exceptions.

.. Divan bed comfortable, however the frame beds were very uncomfortable. Divan bed bedding inadequate. Needed deep fitted sheets, the ones on were not deep enough so rode off when sleeping exposing mattress. Throws on sofas stained and a bit dirty. Arm covers on sofa stained. Missing dustpan and brush to aid sweeping brush. Side steps to the back door very slippy as was decking area.

A very beautiful spacious cottage.

Using the steps next to the cottage will have you in the harbour area in less than 5mins. Nice little outdoor area when the sun is out. Cant see anybody choosing this property and being dissapointed.

A very cosy comfortable cottage with a spacious living area.

Fine views across the rooftops of Mevagissey with a glimpse of the sea beyond. Really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly. Parking space is bigger than it looks with plenty of room each side. Streets are narrow and corners tight, helps to send a passenger ahead to check the way. Shops and post office were just a four minute walk along with cafes and restaurants.

Considering this is 4 star property and previous reviews,I was somewhat surprised and disappointed with the level of cleanliness, also there was no cleaning items at all in property which I find strange.

I am surprised to smell such dampness in the property with numerous scented candles to cover this up I assume. The downstairs bathroom window is terrible with mould along with rear door and porch. Other windows are poor. Having stayed in numerous other properties with competitors,with there standards I really feel you should as a company representing it inspect this cottage.

Rose Cottage is lovely.

Its in a great location with beautiful views. We found it very comfy and spotlessly clean and would definitely stay there again.

The only thing to be aware of is that the roads in Mevagissey are extremely narrow.

Driving to the property is not for the faint hearted!

The cottage was exactly as advertised.

It was very comfortable and had everything in the kitchen that we were likely to need. The standard of cleanliness was excellent and all of the linens and towels supplied were brand new. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to other potential holidaymakers.

great cottage my son grandson and myself had a great time the cottage was great top marks.

We were 3 adults and 2 children and found the layout of the living area perfect for a holiday cottage and contributed to the relaxing stay.

Good, but steep, short cut to town via steps to right of cottage made popping out for supplies or car park quick and easy. The only slight negative was that the lovely iron bed frames rattled.

Excellent few days, in a very comfortable Rose Cottage.

Everything very clean, and facilities also very good. If I was going to say anything could be improved, it would be keep bathrooms on standard heating during colder seasons.

Awesome house, it has everything you need, apart from the lid to the teapot, we couldn't find it, lovely views from inside and outside on the deck.

Even got use to morning wake up call by the seagulls, or on foggy mornings the foghorn. Great stay, love Mevagissey, drive up to house a bit hairy at times, but it's an adventure and was relived my car just fitted on the parking space. Would definitely return and recommend.

Great cottage, very comfortable with a shower room and a bathroom.

Nice terrace with table and chairs with sea view. If you walk further down garden there is a place to have a barbecue. Cottage is bigger in side than it looks on the outside. Well equipped with most thing you need for a great holiday. Beds are comfortable and warm and clean. Parking space next to cottage is just big enough for a fiesta sized car. Not many cottages in Mevagissey have parking spaces.
