Sunset View

We loved the property, from the moment we got in we felt we were in a special house.

I have stopped with Sykes for many years and this is the best property I have stayed in and the kids loved it. The location is fantastic, 10 minutes from the beach and 40 minutes from Newquay meant the car stayed in the drive most of the holiday and I, as the designated driver, had a lovely relaxing break. Very keen to book again the year after next as we already are booked for next year. Thank you again for a lovely holiday. One thing to consider is blinds or curtains upstairs for the evening sun as it is so warm and bright but I feel bad suggesting something because there is too much sun lol.

Views are fab! Everything was very clean and tidy on arrival and we couldn’t think of anything else we needed it was all here. Not visited Porth before but loved it and would definitely return, soon we hope! Owner very easy to contact and extremely helpful. Slight problem we had was dealt with by a visit from James within 15 mins of us reporting it. Would highly recommend this property and the local area. Food at Mermaid Inn and smoothie bowls from Blend at Lusty Glaze were lovely. R Place had great clothes and Ansum great pizzas at Porth. Didn’t want to come home and hope to return soon would highly recommend. Thank you

All perfect, would suggest that the grassed area of the property is fenced off with gate as the decked area and resin path not inviting for dogs, and it would have been nice to sit with them in the garden sometimes but too open to the road The grassed area with them, when not out exploring .

Lovely home ,very comfortable quite well equipped with amazing sunsets all as described and expected with a few lovely surprises and touches on arrival which were VERY MUCH APPRECIATED THANK YOU (Only slight negative is some bits were a little tired)

Five Stars – A Perfect Getaway!

We had the most incredible stay at this beautiful, comfortable home! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning views and peaceful surroundings. The location is absolutely perfect – close enough to everything you might want to explore, yet tucked away enough to feel like a true retreat. The house itself had everything we needed and more. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and it truly felt like a home away from home. The added bonus of the hot tub made our evenings extra special – nothing beats soaking in warm bubbles while taking in the breathtaking scenery! We’re already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable escape!

Sunset View is lovely place to stay, so easy to get to the beach and coast path.

The top floor room is so bright and with such lovely views, including the sunsets! Very comfortable, well equipped and excellent communications.

Porth has a stunning beach less than a 5 minute walk from the house (although the hill you walk back up is epic

Was perfect for what we needed.

We did although at a late stage ask for king bed to be separated, but not done, so we did it ourselves, the dust rubbish under the bed was awful.

There was also a lot of hair on bed linen. Pillows were very soft and uncomfortable. However, the overall place/location was lovely.

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset View, this house is in an excellent and quiet location only a few minutes walk down to the beach.

This property is very nice and clean, the views from the upstairs living room are amazing. It has good facilities overall and is pretty spacious. The living room upstairs is the highlight. We needed to contact the owner due to a minor issue, we found her very polite, friendly and helpful. We love Porth as it has a nice beach, opposite the beach we love Roo's beach coffee shop and clothes shop (really friendly people). It is only a 20 minute walk across the coastal path or 1 mile in a car to get to Newquay.

We had a lovely week staying in Sunset View.

The house was clean and in a great position to take in the views across Porth beach. We found everything we needed for a comfortable stay and particularly enjoyed the upstairs lounge and dining area. A special mention should be made to Claire (the owner) who was very attentive and always willing to help.

Great location, views of the sea were incredible!

Weather wasn't great during our stay but we still made use of the decking area and hot tub which were lovely. A few suggestions. More supplies like bin bags, toilet roll and dishwasher tablets as there were 5 of us staying for 7 nights and only had 1 bin bag and 2 rolls of toilet roll. Bathroom could have been cleaner (there was a bit of black mould round the edges of the bath). Overall it was a great place to stay and I would recommend just needs a few minor improvements.

This is the second time staying at the Sunset view, the first time was excellent hence why we booked it again this year.

However, upon arrival it appears that the time taken to clean the property has been cut, or the cleaners are in the habit of cutting some corners. Some of the things we reported to Sykes was, dog faeces had been left on the decking area, mould found in the bottom of childrens cups and the cooker rings were dirty. Findind dog faeces on the decking area is totally unacceptable. I picked the mess up straight away as my 5 year old lad almost stepped in it. Sykes offered to come and clean the other issues however the cleaners arrived at 6pm whilst getting the kids ready for bed which wasnt convenient. During our stay we also found that the hot tub was full of dead woodlouse and had an oily film on the surface, giving the appearance it hadn'tbeen cleaned for a while. Again Sykes came round and cleaned the hot tub and refilled it, this was halfway through our holiday. Upon our last morning, and whilst cleaning up before leaving, my wife moved the door mat in the kitchen to sweep the floor. On doing so she found quite a few mouldy old crisps. It appeared previous occupants had swept their mess under the mat and the cleaner hadn't found them. Whilst I complained to Sykes at the beginning of our holiday, they were fast in rectifying the issues and they couldn't apologise enough. Whilst we had an enjoyable holiday, we won't be booking Sunset View for a third time.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

This property is fantastic. It was comfy, it was clean, it was a few minute walk from the beach. I couldn’t fault it. The upstairs living room has everything you need and even though we had drizzly days it still didn’t affect us as we knew we had a comfy property to watch some films or play a few games in.

Lovely welcome package including dog treats Absolutely spotless throughout The view is amazing I could sit and watch the sea all day. It was cold but we did brave the hot tub lovely while in and worth the cold dash in and out! Lots of nice pub’s with good food within an easy walk most were dog friendly. We will definitely book again

Lovely cottage, could do with a freshen up however the main thing for us was the hot tub, it may aswell not be there or get a decent jacuzzi hot tub, never warm enough and you can only fit 2 small people in.

This is the only thing I can say would stop us coming back to sunset view.

The house was very nicely decorated and the view is very nice

Amazing stay at sunset view, everywhere was so clean and came with everything you needed, all the little extras like dishwasher tablets, cleaning products, milk/ scones etc were all very much appreciated, the shower was brilliant and my mum loved the log fire, it was the perfect base with everything you need provided,we really didn’t want to leave!

Only slight down side is the side/back garden not being secure for dogs although we had the decked area out back which was secure we had to keep putting them on the leads to take them to the grassed area of the garden for them to use the toilet, our only moan! Thank you for a fantastic stay

Lovely windy stay in Feb 22 half term.

Stunning views, great log burner and short walk to a stunning beach for dog walks. Lovely accommodation.

Fabulous little cottage/house close to the beach and walkable distance to Newquay and watergate bay.

Apartment clean and good amenities. We didn’t use the hot tub as it took 2 hours to heat and had to be monitored. We didn’t book for this facility so didn’t impact on our holiday. Would definitely recommend.

Sunset view is a lovely property in a fantastic area, the views are amazing and there is a great walk to porth island which is on the doorstep along with porth beach.

You are in easy distance to all attractions. The log burner and hot tub were amazing.

The house catered for all of our needs with excellent facilities, and a yummy welcome cream tea. Sitting in the hot tub and watching the sunset is a must and a fantastic feature of this beautiful house. Can’t wait to stay again, highly recommend this property

The views were just stunning!

Stunning location and just a quick stroll to a beautiful Sandy beach and nearest pub.

Well equipped house with lovely outside space to relax, bbq, take in the views or soak on the hot tub. Spotlessly clean and comfortable couldn’t ask for more. We had an amazing holiday, one to remember!

We really enjoyed our stay at Sunset View.

We will certainly be going back! When we arrived there were scones clotted cream and jam.....delcious. The views from the living room were stunning and also relaxing in the hot tub was so nice. The house was clean and had everything you needed. The location was fantastic and also not too far for lottle day trips out in the car. The ow era were easy to get hold if had any questions. We had a lovely holiday!! Thank you!

Fantastic place, great location 5 minutes walk to Porth beach and within walking distance to Watergate Bay and Newquay town centre and other beaches.

The view from the sitting room was absolutely stunning we were lucky enough the enjoy some wonderful sunset views which can also be enjoyed on the decking area. The property is really nicely presented, clean and tidy and very well equipped. The property is a good size with plenty of storage in the bedrooms. The welcome pack with scones, cream, jam and bread was a lovely touch. There were also some nice treats for the dogs which they loved!! The owners contacted us to check we were ok and enjoying our stay which was a really lovely. We used the hot tub a couple of times, instructions were easy to follow and it was so lovely to relax in after a long day at the beach and a wonderful addition. Plenty of outdoor space, there is a grass area to the side of the property but this is not fenced in so we were unable to let the dogs on there without being on the lead as it was next to the road but they did have plenty of space in the decked garden area. Off road parking for 2 cars at the front was really good. We had a wonderful holiday here and enjoyed it so much we are looking to book again next year!! Can highly recommend this property.

Fantastic holiday cottage.

Nice touch was bread, scones, jam & clotted cream left for us. Even a gift for our dogs of treats and squeaky toys!! Everything was there that we needed. Couldn’t ask for more in the accommodation. Great holiday.

Just returned from a fantastic week at Sunset View.

The house is well equipped and because of this we only ate out once, choosing to bbq most nights. We wanted a truly socially distanced holiday and you can certainly achieve this staying at Sunset View. Hot tub is amazing once you get into the swing of keeping the burner going. Loved it so much we are now seriously considering buying one! It’s a short walk to Porth beach which is great for families and not overcrowded. The Mermaid pub gets good reviews and was busy everyday. It’s in the evening back at the house which makes this place. The views are to die for and we were lucky to see a couple of beautiful sunsets and after a full day on the beach, the perfect way to relax in the evening. My only negative was the comfort of the beds. Investing in better quality mattresses in the double rooms would have made this holiday perfect. Don’t get me wrong it didn’t detract from the holiday overall but would have enhanced our stay. Thank you Ian and Claire for sharing your beautiful house. We very much hope to be back next year.

We are booked again for November.

A few things were overlooked due to being out of season, o dishwasher tablets, no sharp knives that actually cut, no potato peeler, but we are realists and understand others may have taken these. Beautiful location, ease of access with cars, should be height warnings in upstairs lounge area, as every person staying hit their head. All in all a great location if you want to hide away in Porth and want the distance from town.

Our weekend away here was just perfect.

The cottage is well equipped, with everything you need to hand. Inc all kitchen crockery/utensils/washing up stuff/dishwasher/dishwasher tablets/washing machine/iron/ironing board/kitchen roll/tea towels/ linen/ bath towels... I could go on. We really didn’t need to bring anything with us, just our own toiletries. On arrival there was milk and clotted cream in the fridge, and a basket with scones, bread, jam and tea waiting on the windowsill. Such lovely touches, that we weren’t expecting. The cottage is so homely, with personal items around the home which make you feel welcome Ie beautiful art work, unique lamps and candles. The cottage is a 5 minute walk to the nearest beach, which is just beautiful. We are lunch at ‘The Mermaid’. The food was fantastic, and we would definitely recommend grabbing some lunch there. The cottage was a perfect size for our family of 6, being able to socialise in the living area on the second floor allowed anyone who was sleeping to remain undisturbed downstairs. The owner was easily contactable, really putting us at ease during our stay, as we knew if we needed anything we could contact him. The log fire is just amazing, really makes the cottage cosy and warm. There were plenty of logs left for us at the cottage, but because we wanted to keep it burning for long periods we nipped to Aldi to pick up some more treated logs. A taxi to Newquay town centre took 5 mins and cost £9.50, and we were able to order a take away ‘Indian’ from Newquay that delivered free of charge. We had a really lovely stay and would definitely come back. We will also be recommending this to our family who are looking for a summer holiday vacation. This lovely holiday home was in a perfect location, 5 mins walk from the beach/The Mermaid Inn (serving good food).

A couple of days prior to arrival Sykes called to say the Hot tub had been broken by previous guests. We requested a partial refund, which unfortunately Sykes really didnt want to get involved with. After some insistence on my part they contacted Ian (the owner) who agreed to reimburse us a reasonable sum. We felt Sykes really didn't want to know (goodness knows what would of happened had there been a bigger problem). Saying that really couldn't fault how the Owners dealt with us. Lovely scones/cream on arrival and some lovely touches / artwork. There were just a few MINOR things, which in our opinion would improve the house greatly. 1. A bit of a lack of utensils 2. Some sort of unobtrusive blinds would give the lounge a more cosy feel in Winter. 3. Felt the bedroom curtains/poles were a bit cheap and cheerful (very thin and awkward to pull) There was only on real thing I would mention, that is the single bedroom mattresses were awful. My 13 year old daughter could feel every spring, so much so, that we took sheet off and had found a couple of spare duvets to put on top of mattress which helped. Better quality mattresses needed!! We had a fantastic time and in all honesty it was just a shame about the bed. Would definitely return, just please invest in some new mattresses... would make all the difference.

The property was first class not a single thing I could find fault with Ian [Owner] went above and beyond to help with all our requests and we will be returning next year

Cottage was lovely just like the photo in your details no unexpected surprises we all loved the hot tub which was used regularly one might be on the cards.

with not being too Cornwall before we should have looked at the terrain as the beach was only 5/10 mins away it was quite a steep walk back too our cottage .car parks got full very quickly so if driving you had too be at the beaches early but over all a good holiday,

Aptly named Sunset View as we we were able to view several wonderful sunsets during our stay.

Loved the hot tub. Great location for visiting Padstow, Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. However, on our journey to the Lost Gardens, our sat nav took us down single lane roads and on to a farm track and, on checking the Lost Gardens website, there is a warning about problems when following some sat nav directions.

the only thing was the hot tub we only used it once and couldnt keep it warm its my fault i never read it was a wood burning tub so thats my fault ,,it is a lovely home brilliantly thought out ,,and one of the cleanest we have ever been everything was amazing views are gorgeous there was everything you needed and will be going back and can not wait ,,,,one very happy customer

Our stay at Sunset View was second to none, Ian was extremely helpful and the extra welcoming touches were fabulous.

We would definitely recommend and even hope to return at some point in the future.

We booked this holiday as our first with our French bulldog.

Straight away we got all the information we needed on the accommodation. Ian was brilliant at replying to any request. Nothing was too much. The accommodation was amazing! We didn’t need anything. We were even given scones with yummy Cornish cream and jam. I knew what the location would be like as our family lived around the corner. We will definitely be going again.

We had a lovely time at sunset view overall, our only disappointment was that the hot tub was not filled ready for us and when we went to try and fill it it didn’t have a plug stop so we couldn’t use it.

Even though it is January we as outdoor people would have loved to have sat in the warm hottub in the rain and enjoyed the views. Everything else about sunset view was amazing, the extra little touches provided including fresh milk and bread on arrival and treats and toys for the dog made the weekend exceptional. Would definite go back again maybe in summer next time.

Good location away from town of Newquay, but minutes walk to beach.

Not far from Padstow which is a favourite place for us.enjoyable stay in spite of poor weather.

The cottage was ideally set in terms of the centre, the late night shop the spar in the garage and the beach down the hill we had a lovely time exploring finding these in the early part of the holiday

This holiday home was an absolute delight.

Location was amazing with fantastic views. The owners had taken great care and effort with making you feel very welcome and at home with treats for the dog and fresh scones and cream on arrival. We were very blessed to have such great weather which meant I was able to take full advantage of the hammock! Would definitely recommend

There were so many great touches that made our stay even more enjoyable, the attention to detail was second to none, everything really was thought of. We almost didn’t want to leave to experience all that this beautiful area of the world has to offer as sunset view was such a good space to relax in. We will be back.

The views are gorgeous the house is stunning, spotless and very comfortable showing beautiful artwork by the owner on the walls. The outside space was an absolute joy with a log burning hot tub, hammock and lots of secluded relax areas out front and back. Everything you need is there and Ian the owner was extremely helpful and accommodating for all our enquiries. Porth itself is a delight with a lovely pub/restaurant on a few minutes walk away, right on the beach and the Tapas restaurant opposite is highly recommended. Our 2 small dogs were made so welcome with treats toys and the area is very dog friendly, albeit a few beaches do have restrictions we weren’t short of places to take them. I’d highly recommend a stay here, we would go back tomorrow. Thank you also for the lovely welcome pack, very much appreciated
