I don’t want to leave a review because I would rather other people didn't know about this place, so I can go back whenever I like.

Too nice to share

The photos of the property vs the reality of the property left us underwhelmed.

The property is tired and in need of decorating. Walls and ceilings stained, chipped paint everywhere. Not worth the price that we paid during high season. However would like to say very clean and comfortable. Housekeeper was so helpful and amazing. Location beautiful but out of the way. Sadly would not stay again.

Penrose Farm Cottage is in a lovely quiet location.

The cottage is perfect for leaving the car and getting out for long walks.It is in a close distance to the local shop and eating out at the pub.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful location.

Within easy walking distance of St Keverne and the local beaches. Highly recommend the Three Tuns both for their food and staff. Sharing their knowledge of the local church and area was extremely interesting. The cottage itself was extremely comfortable and Caroline was very helpful. Would highly recommend and hope to return at some point

Penrose Farm Cottage is the perfect place to stay for walking and we loved being so near the sea.

It is so easy to walk up to get the paper in the morning and to walk in the evening for eating out in the local pub for delicious dinners. We always feel so at home in this lovely old cottage and look forward to coming back again soon.

A beautiful cottage, very comfortable with secure garden which was perfect for our dog.

Sea views were romantic. Two beaches within a 10 minute walk and both were quiet, even in August. Local pubs only a 15 minute walk away, and famous Roskilly’s ice cream farm only 10mins away. Perfectly located for Falmouth, Penzance, Helston, Porthleven.

We love this house and have been coming for many years.

Our children no longer accompany us on holidays as a matter of routine but they never miss this one out of choice!

Full of rustic charm with traditional furnishings and a lovely view of the sea from several rooms.

Very manageable wander down to a beautiful cove beach which at times we had entirely to ourselves, and at other times only a handful of other people there - in August! Ice cream and pubs within easy walking distance, and the lane is quiet enough to wander back in the dark after dinner at the Three Tuns or The Greenhouse - both of which I would recommend. It's so quiet and still at night that you couldn't tell a window was open, except for the occasional hoot from a tawny owl.

The cottage is exactly as listed, although it's a little smaller than you would expect from the images.

But not too small, at all. Location very quiet in a little hamlet from St Keverne, 10 minute walk down to the beach and small shops and a few eating places in the vicinity. Note that bigger shops are about half hour away by car, but then you'll find Tesco and Sainbury so anything you need ... This place is in the south of Cornwall, takes some time getting there, but it was worth the trip. We had a few issues that got solved very rapidly by the housekeeper who lives only a few minutes away, great job !

Beautiful cottage in a very peaceful and quiet location.

Cottage was well equipped. Local people very friendly and welcoming. Loved the sea views (going to miss them) and a short walk to a very dog friendly pub with good food. Beach within walking distance and a beautiful wooded area too to walk your dogs. Nothing to complain about at all.

The cottage was lovely, however, if you look closely the decor is quite tired - chipped paint, fraying carpets, a loose plug socket, mould on the bath silicone.

The master bedroom mattress was extremely uncomfortable, but that is personal preference. It would be great if one of the bathrooms had a walk in shower instead of both having baths. We really enjoyed our stay and the cottage has everything you could possibly need.

The cottage was absolutely perfect.

It was very comfortable and welcoming and we loved the peace and quiet.Carolyn was so helpful and understanding when we had a problem getting the TV to work.The view of the sea was simply wonderful and to be honest you didnt need a TV it was great just to watch the ships and boats from the lounge window. We hope to be back very soon

Beautiful cottage, off the beaten track so incredibly peaceful but plenty of exploring to do.

Perfect holiday home and location

Penrose Farm Cottage was in a beautiful location, beautiful views over the sea and with an hidden gem of a beach.

The cottage itself was extremely clean and possibly the best equipped we’ve ever stayed in. Carolyn the housekeeper was extremely helpful and patient with a key ‘issue’ and the wine and biscuits were great. Would definitely stay in Penrose Farm Cottage again. Many thanks to the owner and Carolyn.

Absolutely glorious spot for us.

5 minutes stroll to quiet, dog friendly beach on the coast path. Bedrooms perfect for our 3 generations plus dog. Best holiday in years

The property is situated in a very peaceful and unspoilt part of Cornwall.

The beach is a 10min stroll away and treats you to a haven away from summer crowds and sometimes even a seal sighting (as well as the coast path for lovely walks). Roskilly’s farm is a 15/20min walk away and has everything from its famous ice cream to the most delicious pizza we’ve ever had! It’s only a few miles drive or walk on to beautiful Coverack too. The location was spot on for us (with a 6 and 81 year old with us). Parts of the cottage could be updated a little bit (like the downstairs bathroom and the bedroom furniture) and it’s worth bringing some layers, even in August as the cottage keeps cool but overall it was a great base for a wonderful week in amazing Cornwall and we’d highly recommend it.

Penrose Farm Cottage is surprisingly spacious.

A great position if you want to get away from it all, very peaceful. Comfortable beds and well appointed kitchen. A lovely sea view to watch the comings and goings of shipping, the binoculars are a great addition. Carolyn, the housekeeper was very helpful.

Dishwasher didnt work properly.

Upstairs bathroom sink kept blocking. But Peter the local plummer came up twice to remedy the problem. He was a lovely chap. That though, did not spoil our holiday! The garden was secure for a dog. There's plenty of space with good views of the sea from some windows. The beds were comfortable too.

Our third stay in this cottage, which shows how much we love it!

Very comfortable, clean & spacious, with gorgeous sea views, in an exceptionally beautiful & peaceful area. Godrevy Cove is on your doorstep, as is a lovely stretch of coast-path, full of wildflowers & wildlife. Seals to be seen every day, some even sharing the beach with us. A very restful stay.

Perfect holiday cottage.

Well equipped. Comfortable and scenic. We extended our stay because we couldn’t bear to leave.

This was our second visit and we are already planning our third,we can’t imagine staying anywhere else in cornwall

Penrose was a lovely cottage and very quirky it was well equipped with everything you needed and Carolyn was very helpful, If I had to be critical I would suggest that it should be made aware that the steps outside and the different levels when entering all the rooms inside the cottage can be quite a challenge, although this is part of the charm and the age of the cottage I feel this should be mentioned.

So if you have mobility issues this is not the house for you. The views and surrounding villages are stunning and well worth a visit.

Lovely cottage, well equipped and in a great location.

Peaceful and quiet but close enough to amenities and for days out. Very disappointed that the path to the beach was closed - one of the main reasons we booked the property. There is an alternative route provided however, about 20 minutes walk and quite steep in places, but it isn't signposted and we only discovered it at the end of our stay (I wrote the directions in the visitors book). On the whole though we had a lovely holiday, helped by the gorgeous weather. The Lizard is a beautiful part of Cornwall.

We liked the cottage, it was ideal for our needs.

The enclosed garden was perfect for our dogs to explore. Sadly, we weren’t well, so we left to come home early, so didn’t get to enjoy the full week we had booked.

Very well appointed characterful holiday Cottage with good outdoor space.

Hope that access to the local beach is repaired soon but for us, visiting with young grandchildren, probably Coverack and Kennack Sands were a better option.

Well presented comfortable cottage, usable open space, good parking, perfect for local walks, and surrounding areas.

Lovely stay in this great cottage - everything you could want/need provided & plenty of space for 6 of us.

I was a bit worried about parking but there was enough space for two vehicles (Just make sure one vehicle parks to the left of the garage). Only real disappointment being the footpath to Godrevy Bay still being closed whilst we were there. Would love to return.

A beautiful and very well equipped holiday cottage.

Very clean and comfortable with thoughtful touches such as information leaflets, books and games. Beautiful view of sea and countryside. The hot water is extremely hot and there are warning signs for this but could be a risk for young children.

We just had a wonderful holiday at Penrose farm cottage extremely clean & very comfortable & homely Carolyn the house keeper is a lovely friendly lady we look forward to visiting this lovely cottage again!

A great place to stay with everything you need for a relaxing home.

We have stayed 4 times at Penrose farm cottage and no doubt will be staying there again soon. We had a great family holiday ,5 adults a teenager and dog!

Television in main bedroom would be nice but not complaining

Spotless and so well equipped.

We loved Penrose cottage. Perfect for exploring the Lizard ( never visited before), a cove around every bend it seems and one within walking distance too. It sets a very hard bar when looking for next place to stay so we might have to return!

Overall an excellent property, as a dog owner one improvement would be a gate at the top of the steps to stop dog's going onto nextdoor garden, beautiful house .

We spent a week at Penrose.

The cottage was spacious, clean and well kept. Everything we needed to have a relaxed stay was there. Communication with Carolyn was easy and she shared helpful information. Did not want to leave, perfect for exploring the Lizard Peninsula.

Excellent cottage very clean and everything you need are provided.

Loved our stay, I was born in st keverne so lovely to see my family. Would reco mmend this cottage to anyone who would like a holiday in such a beautiful place. Cottage stayed lovely and cool for us and the dogs as we went during heat wave.

We really enjoyed our stay at Penrose!

The location is fantastic and the property was very well equipped. In terms of feedback my only suggestion is that for dog owners and parents of young children a gate between the property boundary and next doors garden would be a great addition, we made do with a small table from the outhouse.

Absolutely lovely cottage.

So clean and comfortable and the location is so peaceful. Only a few minutes walk from a very secluded, dog friendly beach and the village with pub and shop. Not far to many lovely places to visit including Kynance Cove. Would highly recommend!

The cottage is beautifully decorated, cosily warm and very spacious.

The upstairs sitting room has the most stunning views of the sea. and the bedrooms are enormously comfortable. All in all a lovely week in a delightful location, I would recommend Penrose Cottage highly!

We liked the layout of the cottage, which was very important to us as we had new parents and their 5 month old baby with them!

Lovely place, very comfortable for us as a group of 6 (parents, teenage kids + grandparents).

Helpful and friendly host made us very welcome. One point to add is the wonderful sea view from the upstairs lounge…could make more of this in the listing! Thanks for a happy and relaxing stay.

The Cottage was well appointed, very clean and tidy, which is testament to the excellent work of the house keeper, Bette Swindon.

The location is superb with the local secluded beach, which we had all to ourselves at times. A good location to explore many coves and chocolate box villages. Wish we'd had two weeks The only criticism is that some land owners block off some public rights of way .

This was our second stay and our little group of seven were very pleased to be back.

The cottage was clean and comfortable in a wonderful location and the housekeeper very friendly and helpful. Just one small gripe- would it be possible to update the garden furniture which is plastic old and brittle, the garden is very pretty and somewhere comfy to sit would be appreciated.

The beds where so comfortable , the views from the living room are beautiful. We would definitely love to return again.

We thought from the details that the cottage would be closer to the village, within close walking distance, but we actually preferred to be more remote - safer - and we were closer to the beaches, so turned out even better.

Had a lovely week at Penrose Cottage.

We have two secondary school aged kids who can walk a bit further now and we like to be away from the crowds but close enough to have enough to do. So Penrose was just perfect. It’s quite a large cottage for 4 people with four bedrooms (we didn’t use one of the bedrooms). The rooms are a good size. Bedrooms are all of a decent size with comfortable beds (it was hard to get the kids up in the morning!). The living room on the second level to get the sea view is especially comfortable and we spent most of our time there when in the house. The kitchen is not massive but was fine for us and is next to the dining room so they work together. There is a 10 minutes walk to the beach which we walked every day. There is next to no parking in the village so few people travel in and we had the beach almost to ourselves each day (in August). There are lovely walks from the house in either direction particularly along the coastal path. Many ice creams from Roskillys, trips to Coverack for kayaking, little cafes to stop in, rocks to climb and bbqs on the beach. We only got in our car twice in a week; once to shop at Tescos in Helston and secondly to walk the coastal path around Lizard Point. There is a garden at the back on two levels; a lower little one with a garden table and chairs, and an upper grassy area which could be used for ball games. But we didn’t use them much and there were lots of other things to do. There is off-road parking as well for one car (not sure if you could get two in?). Overall, Penrose was perfect for us and we would definitely stay again.

So quiet and relaxing.

Beautiful views of the sea and fields from the front of the property. Spacious and well equipped. Within walking distance to a quiet beach and coastal footpath. 15 minute walk to 2 lovely village pubs, village shops and a cafe. Garden was full of flowers. Comfy beds. So peaceful sitting in the smaller, walled secluded garden by the property and the upper garden accessed by a few steps was large and backed on to farmland. Just what we needed after spending months in the house during lockdown. The only negative is the lack of mobile phone signal but the wifi signal is strong and there is a pay phone in the house that accepts incoming calls so we were not completely cut off from the world!

The cottage is very spacious, well furnished and equipped.

Everything you need is here. Enclosed garden great for the dogs, but also sitting out and eating al fresco. Parking facilities for the car were excellent too! 2 beaches close by and walking distance (10-15 mins) which were never over busy, even during August!! Local pubs and cafes in St Keverne area serve good food. Ideal location for away from it all with excellent coastal walks on the doorstep.

Just that we had a good time, weather was kind, and the cottage was warm , comfy and cosy, no complaints.

Quiet location.Jenny and her husband very friendly and helpful. Lovely touch fresh flowers in each room as well as wine and nibbles to greet us. Would certainly recomend thiscottage and hope to return again soon.

Three generations enjoyed a great week at Penrose Farm Cottage.

The cottage was spotlessly clean, well equipped and in a great position for exploring the Lizard peninsula. We enjoyed a meal at The Three Tuns in St Keverne, as well as walking to Roskilly's for ice cream. The wonderful Godrevy Cove was a treat, we even saw a seal on our last day.

Lovely cottage but could do with an update, Neighbor not happy about parking even though we were careful to stay in designated spaces.

Had a wonderful holiday and would definitely use Sykes again. Cakes and wine left on the first day was much appreciated.

The cottage is beautiful, the location too.

We were so impressed with the welcome cakes and wine - so very thoughtful. Jenny and Pete, the housekeepers were extremely helpful, knowledgable nothing was too much trouble. They explained the walks in great detail, as we were with two sets of elderly parents , in fact one celebrated their 80th birthday whilst we were on holiday. Every room in the cottage was so homely and the kitchen was so very well equipped. I would think the cottage will certainly be on our wish list to return in the future. To summarise, Wonderful, loved it.

Spacious with fantastic views to Godrevy Cove and the sea beyond. In a wonderfully quiet location with immediate access to fantastic walks whether along the coast, to the village of St Keverne or Roskilly duck ponds! We’ll be back

Perfect cottage in a wonderful location.

Lovely house, with all the amenities that we could ask for.

So nice to be able to walk to the beach this year, as the path was not open last year, and we saw a seal there twice. The house is well equipped and in a great location and Sykes kept us up to date with any changes to our booking in an efficient and courteous way.

A wonderful cottage very close to a secluded beach.

Arrived to find flowers in every room, wine on the table and a selection of cakes.

The cottage was exceptional.

Lovely welcoming pack and milk in the fridge. Seemed to have everything one could need and beautifully furnished.

The cottage is brilliant, the location is fabulous, the only niggle was that Godrevy Cove was inaccessible the week we were there, and will be so until August 2018, but other than that, it was fantastic waking up to see boats in the cove, and listening to the sea.

Third time at Penrose farm cottage and it remains a family favourite.

The upgrades since our last visit are lovely,the kitchen and living room in particular look great. Thankyou and hope to be back next year!
