“We had the most wonderful week at Ocean Blue in Porthtowan.”

The accommodation is ideally situated close to all of the amenities, restaurants, coastal paths and within minutes of Porthtowan’s stunning beach. We had a very comfortable stay and the property was spotless and well appointed with everything you could need. The welcome gift was a lovely added touch too! We would certainly recommend Ocean Blue. “Apartment was really clean, well equipped and in a perfect location for us to enjoy a family holiday with 2 children.”

We had a fabulous week being so close to a gorgeous beach with huge rock pools to play in at low tide and great facilities nearby - we enjoyed the play park and Unicorn beer garden every evening. We visited a few other beaches/places a short drive away (Portreath beach, St Agnes, Chapel Porth, Falmouth for shopping and Padstow). All worth a visit and so many other places close by to choose from we wish we could have stayed in the apartment longer and can’t wait to come to Cornwall again!

“We LOVED our stay here!”

We travelled as a couple with our two young children. The apartment was a perfect size for us, the beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed. The location was amazing - 2 minutes walk to the beach, a playground just outside (which the kids loved) and 2 great restaurants / pubs. The village has all you need for a holiday - a little shop, fish and chips, a souvenir shop and surf lessons. Plus, the sunset is incredible. We did lots of walking from straight outside - bring walking boots. I would HIGHLY recommend it here!

“This holiday apartment is a must for your next holiday to Cornwall!”

Booking through the website was simple. We received contact from the owner in advance with details. On arrival we accessed the property and found it to be well furnished, clean , tidy and presented with well thought out decor. There was the welcome sight, after a long journey to get there, of fresh flowers, tea , coffee, scones, jam, clotted cream, fudge, and other essentials (washing up liquid, soap, towels, shampoo, shower gel etc.). There was milk in the fridge. Welcome book included instructions for equipment in the apartment, leaflets for local attractions, and maps. The bathroom is a good size with seperate bath and shower. The kids were captivated by the in built tv / mirror in the bathroom. The small balcony overlooks the playground and local pub, and you can see the sea to the left… which is lovely to watch the sun set whilst the waves crash. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. There is a Fish and Chip shop also down the road (note it does only sell Fish and Chips… Cod Haddock and nothing else) The village itself is small it that’s what you want on a holiday like this. There is a cafe and ice cream shop nearby. The Victory Inn pub is a short drive away but worth it. A very nice holiday location.

Thank you for your feedback and we're really glad you liked our apartment. The balconies for all the apartments are actually scheduled to be replaced in a major renovation in the next 12 months (and to be made twice as large!!!!) but in the meantime they are absolutely safe! The sofa is 8 years old now and we will be replacing it with a new one in January 2023 so apologies if you found it uncomfortable. Update - brand new sofa was delivered January 2023 as promised!!!! “We enjoyed our stay and the apartment was lovely, the location was fantastic.”

the only thing we struggled with was the shower, it had way to much power and also there was no way to fix the shower head to stay in one position as it was quite loose. The excessive water pressure caused the shower head to move constantly making it very difficult to use. other than that it was a brilliant place to stay.

“We have had a great holiday which was hassle free.”

In light of having to cancel previously we have nothing but praise for the efficiency of Sykes. Ocean Blue was perfect. The location next to an inn and playpark and closeness to the sea was great. Only issue would be to suggest that a hair dryer be available to use please.

We had a wonderful time! Only down side is that we looked to book again next year and prices have gone up by £650 a week and at £260 a night a family of four like us are completely priced out, what a shame!

). Very well equipped kitchen with plastic items for the beach which was much appreciated. Noisy building work downstairs but understandably that is outside of your control. Great location for a family with young children.

“I emailed twice to complain about the disruptive renovations taking place in the flatt below.”

All manner of power drills. Could not call as no signal in Town. Only holiday in three years was ruined. Builders even knocked on door seeking access to balcony to make it safe. Can't believe it wasn't easy to get hold of you on Monday when it all started. I will be lodging an official complaint soon.

“Great location, lovely beach only 2 minutes walk from the apartment.”

Porthtowan is quiet though gas all you are likely to need in terms of essentials, and you can see that the locals look after the place. If you need more extensive shopping options, Redruth and Camborne are 15 - 20 minutes drive. Apartment itself is well presented and very well equipped. Milk, tea, coffee, fruit juice at fudge on arrival were nice touches.

“This is a great beach apartment, so close to everything in Porthtowan.”

It was lovely and clean when we arrived. The kids can play on the playground just outside where you can see them and the food at the Porthtowan Beach cafe is amazing. One thing that was a bit frustrating was that the hot water only comes on for two hours in the morning and the evening. If you’ve all been in the sea, there is not enough water in the middle of the afternoon for 4 of you to have a shower. The tv in the bathroom looks great but we couldn’t figure out how to turn it on or find a remote for it anywhere?

Thank you very much for your feedback, regarding the hot water and the TV remote, we are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. We have spoken with the owners and they have confirmed that the hot water does come on three times a day, at 06.00 to 09.00, 13.00 to 15.00 and 18.00 to 20.00, so there is plenty of hot water. We apologise that the remote control for the TV in the bathroom is broken, a replacement is being sourced and will be in the property in a few weeks. Lovely view from balcony but again very small and we were a bit disappointed we weren’t permitted to have a bbq on it (although it’d have been very tight!) so we were watching the people below having theirs every night instead

The apartment is well equipped and is home from home, the cream tea on arrival was welcomed! The only thing that let’s it down is the garden of the one below, but that let’s all of the apartments down and is out of the owners control. It is well placed to travel around Cornwall and would definitely stay here again.

“The accommodation would be even better with a dishwasher installed.”

One person left a review stating that there was a dishwasher in the accommodation. I did not use the shower as the water overflowed and was all over the bathroom floor. The picture of the property portrayed the balcony as being larger than it was. It was lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by! The flat under "Ocean Blue" has a very unkempt garden which does distract from the property. Possibly a word to the owner of that accommodation could be made to tidy up the garden. We had a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable time at "Ocean Blue".

Porthtowan is a small village resting on west Cornwall’s beautiful coastline, renowned for its Blue Flag beach, which at low tide exposes almost a mile and a half of fine, golden sands. Fringed by impressive granite cliffs, the beach is a popular surfing venue and is lifeguarded during the summer, making it ideal for families. Porthtowan is part of the St Agnes designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are some wonderful walks to be found, offering vivid scenery along the South West Coast Path, whether you choose to head east to St Agnes or west to Portreath. The towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their art galleries, restaurants and quaint harbours, are half an hour’s drive away, whilst Flambards Theme Park, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, and the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station are just a few of the other diverse attractions scattered around this picturesque region.
