“We just had a wonderful stay with our 3 dogs at Myrtle Cottage.”

The cottage has 3 large bedrooms with plenty of space for all our stuff. It is cosy, comfortable and the smart tv was great in the evenings. I loved the 3 dog “packs” which were provided which included fluffy blanket, towel, dog bowl and jar of treats for each of my dogs. I loved the 3 dog “packs” which were provided which included fluffy blanket, towel, dog bowl and jar of treats for each of my dogs. The kitchen has all the appliances and equipment you need on holiday and the practical boot cupboard and utility with washer and dryer was well used by us. The back garden is safe and secure for our dogs with fencing and gates. The location of the cottage was ideal for us. We were only a few minutes from Gwithian beach and some fabulous coastal and beach walks up to Godrevy (National Trust walk) and the lighthouse. We saw seals on the beach there. We could be in St Ives in 10 mins by car and it is so pretty and filled with lovely independent shops and restaurants. We drove to Lands End and Lizard point could explore south and west Cornwall with ease as everywhere was so close. Recommend Porthleven and Kota restaurant and the Tolcarne inn in Newlyn. Lovely walks and garden at Trengwaiton National Trust which is only 15 mins drive and great dog walk at Godolphin estate also 20 mins drive. The cottage owner Liz, was easily contactable and answered any questions we had. Would happily recommend Myrtle Cottage - especially if you have dogs ( or even if you don’t!) - as we spent a thoroughly enjoyable week there exploring Cornwall

About the location

HAYLE

St Ives 6.3 miles; Penzance 7.4 miles.

Hayle is in the far-flung south western corner of Cornwall and sits on an important RSPB wildlife estuary flowing out to the beautiful St Ives Bay, where visitors can enjoy three miles of golden sandy beaches, walks, history and wildlife. Hayle has plenty of activities out of the water too; Paradise Park is a wildlife park, home to some spectacular parrots, otters, and red pandas. Hayle has a range of shops, restaurants and bars scattered around the estuary and harbour area. There are skittles and karting for the family, and for golfers, one of the best links golf courses in Cornwall is at Lelant, a mile out of Hayle. But the jewel of Hayle is the three miles of golden sandy beach, with fantastic surfing at Gwithian where there is a surf shop, lessons and hire of equipment. For the less energetic there are beach cafés where you can take in the views and watch the children play. As Hayle is centrally located you can easily access many other places by either public transport (there is a train station at Hayle) or driving. St. Ives is a short drive away where you can wander through the narrow streets, visit the art galleries, or admire the colourful sub-tropical gardens. St Ives harbour has its own small fishing fleet and there are plentiful boat trips skippered by locals keen to showcase the best that Cornwall has to offer, whether it be seal watching at Seal Island, a couple of hours' mackerel fishing or a relaxing trip to Godrevy Lighthouse. Within easy reach of Hayle is the Minack Theatre, Falmouth Maritime Museum, Eden Project, St. Michael’s Mount and many other fantastic tourist attractions for dry or wet days.
