Communication with Sykes Cottages and the use of their site was not great.

I dealt direct with host, which was excellent.

We had a lovely stay at Toadstools cottage, it was easy to find with the sat nav, every thing we needed was provided even a air fryer, milk and biscuits were left for us when we arrived which was lovely, the garden was secure so I could leave my two dogs out without worrying and they loved it, the bed was really comfortable, there was a lovely log burner but we didn’t use it as the weather was lovely it was still warm at night we had the door open most of the nights, it was a lovely cozy cottage we would definitely stay again I would recommend it to friends and family.

We went to the Halfway house restaurant on the last night which was just up the road it was lovely the food was great and it was a lovely atmosphere there the staff were lovely.

This accommodation was a big disappointment and was nothing like the description provided.

Property was full of mould.

In ever room . Windows were dirty. Bathroom windo brocken .Water runing down walls kitchen . ( got a electric shock from fridge ) no curtains in any room . This place was not fit to stay in . Bed room was so bad we did not sleep in thear . Again water runing down walls. Plug sockets . 2 weeks of building work going on owner new property .

What a lovely secluded cottage, private parking, and a private garden area.

No other guests walking past or over looking, a fantastic base to from which to visit the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cornwall. Already booked again for next year. It's peaceful with everything you need in the cottage, comfortable cozy. We both loved it and saw an awful lot while we were here.

We have stayed here with our dog three times now and find it well suited to our needs.

Quiet and secure location provides a good base for accessing National Trust, English Heritage and many other places of interest in South West Cornwall, most within an hours drive.

The bathroom is way too small very tight squeeze for us.

Couldn’t get cooker to work and microwave went for 3 mins then stopped wouldn’t go until I went back a while later. Lovely yard for our dog to explore nice that it was enclosed and didn’t have to keep an eye on him. Pub meal was lovely would definitely recommend.

Beautiful little cottage, private, secure, plenty of natural light.

We were there during a bitterly cold snap but the electric radiators took the chill off very quickly and then the wood burner took over and we were cosy throughout the cottage and throughout our stay. Facilities good enough but maybe time for some upgrading in the shower room. Water pressure good (and I have thick hair to wash) and heated towel rail great. Kitchen adequate, microwave a bit precious in that it'll do, say 4 minutes, then shut down for 5. We got the hang of it! Oven good but not a fan oven. Washing machine a very helpful addition. Freezer section of fridge iced up but so cold outside, it didn't matter. The only downsides were the bed which, in our opinion was verging towards uncomfortable, the quilt and pillows, we thought poor quality although good for laundering and the sofa seemed to push us both into the centre ... cosy I suppose! TV good, no streaming I don't think. A nice little table and chairs for eating etc. All well arranged and attractively set out within the space. Outside area good and parking good. Overall it was near perfect for a short break but glad to be in my own bed. Oh, and Mark is a fabulous host. Thank you Mark for your warm welcome.

It was a great place to stay for 3 nights, with our dog.

Nice secure garden. Well equipped kitchen. It would be nice to have a mirror in the bedroom and a bit more storage, for a longer stay. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming, even put the heating on, so it was warm when we arrived. We would stay here again.

Toadstools was great for our purposes.

Quiet and peaceful. Within easy reach of shops and services. As a base to explore locally it was ideal. There is a lot to see and do within an hours drive and close enough to for longer days out if you wish. We would probably stay again if visiting this area.

Accuracy of listing implied we needed to bring our own tea towels which suggested we might have to provide towels and cleaning products etc.

The barn was lovely inside although a slight damp smell greeted us on arrival. This seemed to disappear quite quickly though. The interior was immaculately clean and well presented. Loved the cosy warm bathroom too! A welcome surprise of milk and biscuits. Again this could be added in accuracy of listing as the listing itself didn't sound 100% welcoming. This would definitely make the difference as it was very welcoming indeed

Lovely cottage with everything you need to make your stay in Toadstools relaxing.

We did not need the wood burner ( it was June) but it would be great when it’s cold. Dog friendly with a fully enclosed yard. Two good pubs nearby. Secure parking a definate bonus.

This was our second time staying at Toad stools.

We were given a warm welcome. The accommodation was great. Clean and equipped with all we needed for a weeks holiday. The location was good for getting to Falmouth and other places. We will be coming back again in the future.

Cottage is cosy and comfortable.

Peaceful secluded accommodation with a private courtyard not overlooked at all. Really lovely place, had all basic amenities needed for self catering stay. Access to a small field to walk the dog and a great base for exploring loads of stunning Cornish coastal walks. The hosts are really lovely people and very helpful. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Cottage lovely and cosy, comfy bed, everything you need from cooking your own food to lounging and watching tv. Garden enclosed so ideal for our dog, would be ideal in nice weather to sit outside. Thank you for a lovely stay.

I had a fantastic time at Toadstools.

It was perfectly situated for my walking in the South Coast path around Falmouth and the Lizard. Toadstools was very well described and I didn’t want for anything- with the exception of a vacuum for cleaning at the end of the stay. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept really well. The shower was lovely and hot. I lit a fire on a couple of evenings in the log burner, how cosy. The owner was very friendly and helpful. I would thoroughly recommend Toadstools.

A quant cottage, perfectly situated for exploring Cornwall.

Quiet, and peaceful. Just what we needed to get away from it all. The cottage was clean and well equipped. However, the sofa was low for us but not a massive problem. The courtyard was fully enclosed, and private, which was piece of mind when letting our little dog out. It was nice to sit out when the weather allowed. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely stay again.

Very clean. Exactly what we expected. Lovely little area outside which was not over looked. Flowers and biscuits on arrival. Set in a lovely spot. Great walks from the cottage. Stithans reservoir walk was good. Nice cafe there, where we sat and enjoyed the views. Will definitely return. Thank you.

Lovely property although very cold due to the thick stone walls and I felt guilty having the heaters on as the electric was used up quickly.

Having the log burner was great but that only warms the living area. The owners were lovely and very helpful when the property key was locked inside my car.

Where to start?

Totally basic. We use Sykes cottages 3 to 4 times a year, never before have we had to buy salt and pepper!!! Unfortunately, the cooker broke down, (spent breakfast time at the Carnon Inn) - sorted by the owners lovely Mum. The cottage was cold and damp. No cooking facilities eg casserole dishes mixing bowls, kitchen roll, foil, pan scrubs etc, fortunately our family, who live locally, were able to provide hot food. The cottage was clean.

The owners are very friendly and helpful.

The cottage was perfect for a peaceful stay for us and safe for our dog. Also in a good location to go out and about. We will definately book again.

Easy to communicate with the owners who are very welcoming.

Lovely LITTLE place to stay but felt very isolated everywhere where was a car drive away unless you fancied taking the risk of playing chicken on the busy little lane!

The facilities are on the small side and being of a large build wasn’t ideal. The local area/beaches are all a 10 minute drive away and unfortunately are not dog friendly summer months.

Everything was perfect for us and our 2 dogs, thank you.

All as the information given, the enclosed garden was excellent for our small dog, we think perhaps some immediate heat would be an advantage, we did find it quite chilly at times, a very nice break through.

Lovely holiday cottage had everything we needed for our stay.

We felt curtains needed some attention does not fit properly and gape. Otherwise we loved everything about cottage, owners input and location and would stay there again.

Toadstools - Perfect for Two Beautifully presented in a lovely peaceful location.

Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy. There was a nice welcome pack of shortbread, tea and milk. The bed was super comfy and there is everything you need here for two. The log burner made it so cosy and was very welcome after spending the days walking in November. The outside area is neat and tidy with secure fencing and gate so your pooch can mooch about safely. The hosts were great - attentive and helpful and just a stone’s throw away if needed.

We loved it, and so did our Spinone; especially the enclosed garden.

We were lucky with the weather; but if it had been wet and muddy, keeping the carpets clean and dry could have been challenging; especially without a hoover. The log fire was really appreciated in the evenings.

Bathroom was very cold as the window did not shut properly.

Otherwise, lovely. Liked the milk in the fridge and the biscuits. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Quiet, peaceful and well placed. Would like to have seen curtains that fit the bedroom and lounge areas properly and somewhere to hang wet jackets and place dirty, muddy, wet boots after walking.

Lovely cottage in a great location.

No where seemed to far away. Really nice pub less than a mile away if you don't want to travel far for dinner. We took our dog and it was an ideal location for a couple and a dog.

Well what can you say about Toadstools what a lovely gem of place to stay and unwind .

Mark and Caroline are wonderful hosts not intrusive but always there if needed . It is in an excellent position to explore Cornwall there is a post office and the Halfway house pub which is dog friendly and serves excellent food within 15 minutes walk . The small private outdoor space was ideal to sit and relax and was secure for our dog .We would not hesitate to book Toadstools again thanks once again for a great holiday .

Very clean and well appointed. Minimal contact with owners due to pandemic. Small problem during week dealt with quickly and efficiently.

A lovely quiet location with good access to lots of wonderful bits of Cornwall.

Cottage was well-equipped, including plenty of towels. A recently improved outdoor area really made a difference to the appearance - though a pity we couldn't take full advantage of the new gazebo area for our short stay due to the bitter April winds! A log-burner and comfortable bed helped us through the chilly nights. Friendly owners - and very talented with all their building and carpentry!

This is a comfortable little cottage for 2 people.

We used it as a base for the week to walk a section of the South West Coast Path. It is clean and fresh and seems newly decorated.The kitchen is small but was perfectly adequate for our needs. The lounge is comfortable and cosy and we really enjoyed coming home in the evening and snuggling in front of the wood burning fire. The double bed is comfortable. The cottage is in a quiet location but only a few miles from Falmouth and the coast. It is a good base to explore the Lizard peninsular and this southern most tip of Cornwall.

Our trip was a much anticipated and way overdue visit to see our son - lockdown and been so long and we had had to postpone 3 trips during 2020.

Toadstools was the perfect location. Very clean, tidy and comfortable with thoughtful gestures such as just enough milk in the fridge for that all important first cup of tea after a long journey! We were warmly greeted by the hosts - it was late when we arrived and although the directions were good the signage on the roadside was not totally clear. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and hope to return, making more use of the delightful garden area next time.

I loved my stay at Toadstools.

Cosy, comfortable and quiet, all you need for a relaxing break. The cottage was ideally located for exploring both Falmouth area, and further South on the Lizard Peninsula. The log burner was great, and there was enough kindling and logs provided for the first few days. The owners were friendly, yet unobtrusive. I will definitely stay at Toadstools again.

Toadstools was beautiful, we loved all the quirky little features and the building itself.

We loved how private it was from the house, with its very own little garden to let our puppy out securely. It is situated in the perfect place for us to explore Cornwall widely. The hosts were so friendly, ensuring we had a great stay. We would highly recommend a stay at Toadstools!

We arrived at the converted barn, it was absolutely immaculate, we never saw the owners until the last day, that was a good thing as they trusted us with their cottage, I found that very trusting!

It wasn’t without foundation as we left it as we found it. It was a little isolated, however,it was central to everything in Cornwall, I couldn’t get over the total ‘blackness’ it was so dark you couldn’t see a hand in front of you! I throughly recommend this rental, you will love it!
