Polgear View

What a great find!

We absolutely loved our stay at Polgear View. The lane leading to the cottage does have quite a few potholes, but luckily we had a larger car, so it wasn’t too much of an issue for us. The cottage itself was lovely — spotlessly clean, beautifully cosy, and had absolutely everything we needed. I especially loved the fresh white towels and linen. Martyn and Sarah have thought of every little detail, and they were excellent hosts. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely love to return!

Exceptionally good, well furnished, accomodation with very generous welcome and leaving packs.

The only negative aspect is the drive along a very bumpy single lane track which is not suitable for low clearance vehicles.

We had a lovely time at Polgear View.

If you are looking for a quite, welcoming and nice place for a good break that's the perfect choice.The welcoming pack was nice.Also, on the leaving day we had something to take with us.Even if the owners are living close we never felt that they are around.The are is offering beautiful farm landscapes with animals and buterflyes around you.Is located within close reach to most of the attractions that Cornwall is offering. We've been very happy with our choice.

Clean, tidy, comfortable and well-equipped.

Excellent welcome pack and thoughtful travel bag for the homeward journey. Owners there if you need them but there were no issues. We visited last year and returned because it’s a lovely place to stay, and will be booking for next year too, which says it all

Martyn and Sarah have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Very thoughtful welcome and departure gifts! We didn't get a chance to say goodbye as we left early but will take this opportunity to say thank you.

Nice quiet cottage away from the road with Plenty of walking and wildlife to see.

Amazing home away from home, had everything needed.

Owners were friendly and helpful and left a lovely welcome package. Bed is a super king and so comfy, shower was great and tv has streaming services so you can chill out at night with something to watch. We used this as a base to walk the coastal path each day and you’re not too far from the A30 and local shops/places to eat. Had read previous reviews about the path to the house.. The last 50m up to the house is solid but uneven track, if you go slow it’s no problem at all and I would stay here again 110%. Hope to be back next year

Lovely accommodation and super generous welcome gift.

Was a lovely place in the middle of fields.

The drive up to the cottage was very bumpy not suitable for low cars. The hospitality from the hosts was excellent

Polgear View is a tastefully renovated farm building providing a cosy well equipped resting place after days out enjoying this beautiful area of the country.

The cottage is reached via travel down an, (in part), quite challenging pothole ridden lane. We had read the about this before travelling and, despite driving a car with normal ride height, we didn't have any problems getting to and from the cottage. We had a week of dry weather, this may be a little more challenging if wet. We slept extremely well, the bed is super king size was very comfortable, also the area is away from major roads and industry and is refreshingly quiet therefore. We were greeted very warmly on arrival by Martyn who gave us every confidence that if we needed something we only had to ask. There was an incredibly generous welcome gift of fresh produce sufficient to make a cream tea (proper local clotted cream indeed) and a cooked breakfast for the following morning. We were also left a gift of water and chocolates on the car when we left. We enjoyed the welcome home on occasion from doggies Lottie & 'H'. All in all a fantastic base to explore this special part of Cornwall.

Polgear View is a lovely old Cornish cottage tastefully restored, but anyone thinking of booking it needs to be aware the access is a long way up a very rough farm track.

We had a lovely 4 nights at Polgear View, the house was cosy, comfortable and exactly as pictured.

Good location for exploring the local area with some great recommendations for places to eat in the welcome book. Carn Brea Castle was a particular highlight. Martyn and Sarah were lovely hosts, leaving a generous welcome pack of breakfast staples and treats, along with a departing gift for the journey. Not to mention meeting one or two unusual requests with their healthy garlic supply! Thank you so much, we had a beautiful mini moon!

Thoughtful and generous hosts made our stay special, from the surprise birthday balloons to the unexpected supplies in the fridge.

Martyn and Sarah are a lovely couple and more than happy to help with any requirements while still respecting our space.The fridge was stocked with necessities on our arrival which as much appreciated.Martyn gave us a fabulous tour of his potting shed with a brilliant synopsis of the process. The barn is spacious and comfortable with friendly welcoming dogs! If we are ever back this way then we will return here. It was a great place to access both coasts and explore. Perfect house in the perfect location.

Extremely comfortable sofa and super king size bed. Amazing welcome pack. Owners live in property just over the yard, made sure everything was ok and left us to it. Nothing negative to say and we will definitely be booking for next year

What can I say that hasn’t already been said?

Only to confirm that the positive comments are all true! Fantastic property in a peaceful setting with generous and lovely hosts. We had a fabulous time in Cornwall and visited lots of places and attractions. It was great to have a full size fridge freezer with plenty of ice and the outside area is spacious, private and a sun trap. The dogs and horses were a wonderful bonus.

We were warmly welcomed by Martyn, his daughter, and their friendly waggy dogs.

The cottage itself was very clean, which is the first thing I look for. Everything was very comfortable, especially the super king-size bed, it was also well equipped. The welcome pack was the best we've ever had, including bacon, eggs, milk, orange juice, and Everything for a cream tea. We even had a leaving gift of water and chocolate. And I mustn't forget the two horses and pony who we fussed every day. The track leading up to the cottage is a bit bumpy, but drive sensibly, and it's fine. We would definitely recommend Polgear View as a great base to see Cornwall.

A well maintained comfortable barn conversion with everything provided.

We stayed at Polgear view for our honeymoon and it was brilliant!

The house was spacious and had everything we needed, including cozy blankets for spending the evening on the sofa. Everything was perfect, the bed was enormous and super comfortable, and we made use of the BBQ in the garden as well. We particularly enjoyed the secret toilet too, hidden behind a bookshelf! The hosts were lovely and came to say hi when we arrived, chatted to them a few times when we got back from our days out. They had stocked up the fridge for us with supplies so that we had some food when we got there, including milk form the local cows and enough breakfast items for a full english (and some delicious scones!) the icing on the cake was the little supply bag they left on our car when we were leaving that had some water for our drive home and a beautiful custom chocolate with a picture of the house on it, almost too pretty to eat! The location was great, the house is right out in the country with nothing but peaceful fields, but is still only about 10 minute drive from the nearest supermarket ( and dominos pizza!). It is also close to loads of great Cornwall days out, we didnt need to drive any more than an hour to get to things like the Eden project, st Ives, st Michaels mount etc. A fab place to stay we would recommend it to anyone, and a perfect place to spend our honeymoon! Amazing stay, and even better hosts!

! The first night we arrive at 10pm, we didn't have any firewood and the host said they will bring some in the morning. 15 minutes later the arrive with fresh firewood. We also asked if they had blankets so we could keep warm on the sofa, they came with brand new blankets. The fridge was stocked with essentials and a loaf of bread in the bread bin. And to top it off they had a travel gift bag of chocolates and water for the journey home!

Beautiful cottage!

Had the most wonderful week back down in Cornwall even though the weather wasn’t great we had the log fire on and still enjoyed our time. Cottage has everything you need with a super comfy king sized bed. Owners are super lovely too, had a couple chats with them and was gifted a birthday present and a going home package on the car in the morning! Shall definitely be back at some point. Added bonus was seeing the dogs daily too, my partner and I shall miss their little faces! :) Thank you for a wonderful stay with many memories!

Had such a wonderful stay.

Great central location for the adventures we had planned and easy enough to get around. Lovely property and detailing. Owners were lovely and sent us a message prior to arrival and left goodies for arrival and goodies for departure which was very thoughtful. While the track wasn't ideal we were aware of the track leading to the property at the point of booking due to information on the site and previous reviews so it wasn't shock to us.

! A beautiful barn conversion. Very well equipped, with lots of space, and the owners will make you truly welcome. However, do heed the warning about not booking this property if your car has low ground clearance. The last 1/4mile to the property makes for a memorable drive! However it’s perfectly possible in a car with average ground clearance, and by the end of your stay you’ll think nothing of it.

We really enjoyed our stay here.

Had everything you need. We arrived to find cream tea in fridge and breakfast ingredients. It was spotless. Kitchen was well equipped with every you need. Even an air fryer and Tassimo. Shower was amazing. Loved the toilet door downstairs. We have a low down car but the drive up to it was okay if we drove slowly. I would highly recommend and definitely stay again. Had a lovely pack given for drive home with water and biscuits.

Was an absolutely lovely place to stay, location was perfectly central as you can drive to anywhere in Cornwall within a reasonable amount of time, the place was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and was even heated, the bathroom and shower was very nice!

, my favourite feature being the comfortable sofa with wood burning furnace which makes evenings super cozy! It was also very convenient to have our own dishwahser and washing machine as the last thing you want to be dealing with on holiday is washing up and piles of dirty clothes (this was the first time I've gone home with bags packed with clean clothes!) The hosts were very friendly and left a very lovely welcome pack for a full cooked breakfast and cream tea, a starter pack for the fire and a leaving pack with water and shortbread for the journey back! Couldn't ask for more and will definitely look at going back when we find ourselves going on holiday in Cornwall again!

Lovely converted barn in a peaceful location but be prepared for long, bumpy farm track (all part of the fun).

The owner provided a great welcome pack and, a first in my experience, a leaving pack as well! The photos and description are accurate. Great place to explore the mining heritage sites and only 20 minutes to north coast beaches.

Polgear View is a lovely holiday cottage.

The owners were lovely and had left a lovely cream tea and supplies for breakfast the following morning. Also, when we came to leave, we found some bottles of water and a box of shortbread on the car for the journey home! A lovely and considerate gesture. The bed was huge and ever so comfortable and the shower was superb, although there was nowhere to put the lower shower head if you wanted to shower without getting your hair wet. We found everything we needed in the kitchen, the air fryer was a handy inclusion there. Unfortunately Cornwall decided to throw some horrible weather our way so we didn't get to make use of the outdoor area. The bumpy drive was an annoyance, but given that you have to share it with cows being brought in and out for milking there isn't a great deal that can be done about this. Maybe some of the bigger pot-holes could be filled a bit? Also lovely grapefruit & orange hand soap in the downstairs cloakroom, we had to go out and buy some when we got home!

Lovely property and thoughtfully put together.

Had everything we needed and more. Caring owners who were on hand if needed and had left us a welcome pack and gift when we arrived. Beautiful setting and very quiet and central point for travel to other areas. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt we’d had a holiday; thank you.

A first rate property with attentive but not intrusive hosts.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only negative is the long unmade track with many deep potholes. This didn’t affect us as we had a 4x4 with higher ground clearance but might affect others so maybe the most severe uneven parts of the track could be filled in.

Absolutely beautiful, very comfortable, great location, outstanding views from every angle.

Very comfortable, well-equipped, very private, free-standing, characterful barn on an old farm.

Thoughtful conversion with downstairs toilet as well as en-suite. Wood-burning fire for atmosphere complements electric heating system. Hosts Sarah & Martyn very friendly and helpful. They went that extra mile to make our stay enjoyable.

The cottage was one of the most comfortable we have ever stayed in. The facilities were extremely good. The cottage and its location were perfect for us.

- if only more than 5 stars were available!! A lovely, lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings and in a great spot for visiting a lot of Cornwall. The owners, Martin and Sarah, work extremely hard to ensure that the cottage itself has everything you'd need for your stay and more besides. The whole place is extremely clean and comfortable (have to mention the bed -wow!). In the fridge were the makings of a very nice cream tea and a tasty breakfast plus fresh milk, tea and coffee - so welcome after a long drive. Private outside space has table and chairs plus a barbeque, sadly we could use neither as the weather was against us! Not cold enough to need the wood burner but logs and firelighters were provided. And lastly a thoughtful leaving present as we hit the road home. Excellent, Martin and Sarah, thank you and very best of luck with all your plans for the future. We have no doubt they will be a roaring success.

What a great find this was, superb cottage would give more than 5 stars if we could, it has so many original features, it’s spacious, comfortable and super cozy.

My husband moans about something (usually the bed) every where we stay, but this was the exception, he found nothing to moan about and to quote “this bed is as comfortable as the one we have at home” (I won’t say how much money our bed cost us). The cottage has everything you need and some. We were touched by the welcoming ingredients we found in the fridge for a perfect breakfast and a cream tea. The location was perfect for us, we were never more than a 40 minute drive to where we wanted to visit. The hosts were on hand should you need them, but never intrusive. We were sad to leave this beautiful place, We will definitely be back next year.

We have agreed that if we return to Cornwall there will be only one cottage we will choose and that is Polgear View.

The cottage was clean and tidy and the king size bed was about the most comfortable I have slept in. Sarah and Martin are lovely hosts. When we arrived there was the ingredients for a cooked breakfast and a cream tea. I messaged Sarah to enquire whether the sausages were gluten free as my wife is coeliac. She apologised and said they where not but she went out and bought some gf sausages and scones, which was a really kind gesture.. On the last day they left us a going away present.

We had an amazing stay.

Although the owners were our neighbours, they cared for our privacy. However, whenever we had a question, they were always there to help us, without any problems. The owners are extremely nice people. The home was clean and enjoyable to stay in. They also set up an extra bed for my daughter to sleep in, so she has her private space. All the different places you could visit were all nearby, so the home was in a fantastic location. Overall, our stay was amazing, and I would definitely come back again in the future.

A great base to explore Cornwall.

I think wow is an understatement, when we arrived we were greeted by the owner, the accommodation was amazing and every consideration was taken as to what you could possibly need for your holiday.

Generally a very good experience, however it should be pointed out that this cottage is not suitable for anyone with limited mobility.

In our seventies and suffering from arthritis we found the steep narrow staircase difficult to use. This was compounded by the fact that the only WC was upstairs. The kitchen was very well equipped, though additional crockery would be useful owing to there being a dishwasher. Difficult long rutted track to the cottage with deep potholes.

A beautiful countryside cottage with stunning interior with all the facilities we could need.

A very comfortable bed and sofa which are perfect to unwind. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. A stunning base to explore all that Cornwall has to offer.
