“What a lovely and beautifully situated cottage Old Beach Store is.”

With those views you could have a fantastic week here without leaving the living room and kitchen. We could have much better used a washing machine...more relevant to two people than a dishwasher. And a table and two chairs would be more useful than that window counter and stools. People over 60 rarely chamber on to stools. But allinall, best summer hols letting I've stayed in in 50 years coming to Cornwall.

“An absolutely A1 experience from start to finish.”

This is a hidden gem and we are so glad we booked it! Our first impressions when we opened the door to the property met every expectation - everything was spotlessly clean, and cleverly designed. The warm floors were a lovely welcome every time we came back, and the electric Velux window allowed us the best ventilation at night, we enjoyed the lapping of the waves and fresh sea air and slept like babies! Sennen Cove was also a real surprise, pulling us down to the beach each day. We had a hiccup on departure, we forgot some stuff!!! But even this wasn't an issue and the same A1 5* experience continued, and our parcel turned up at home with everything that we thought was lost forever. So all in all, 100% recommend to anyone reading our review, and whilst we wish the owner all the success, we hope a week or two will remain so we can come back another time!!! Thank you so much for a wonderful week away and being attentive right to the end, All the best Darren & Kath

“We stayed here last July, loved it but there were a few issues back then.”

A lack of cutlery and crockery and were pleased to see it is now much more stocked and the Kitchen Bi-fold was broken, it was much better being able to open it this year. We love this place, very high end spec with all the comforts. We will be booking again, yes it is expensive but worth it. A wonderful position too. The cleaners were great, it must be said. We had a 2 week stay and they arranged with us to change the Towels and Linen after 1 week, they also cleaned and swept through, which we weren't expecting to be done. A big improvement on last year, when we were asked to strip the Bed ourselves and leave the linen and Towels outside. A new Bag was then left and we then had to remake the bed ourselves, as they said it's not their practice to enter on a 2 week stay. These new ladies were shocked when I offered to do the Bed! We were offered 2 time slots for our convenience, very friendly and helpful.

The beach store was absolutely perfect views from the sea in every room felt like you was on the beach. Everything exactly what it says on the booking and more. Perfect place to stay, we will definitely go back. As always booking with sykes is easy and you get everything that is advertised on the booking site, everything was perfect couldn't get any better. We still love it in winter, but this time a few things were broken that weren’t an issue on our first visit… detailed below: Four things: wine cooler was completely broken, fridge was temperamental (freezer defrosted despite fridge being on high) shower backed up (just needs drain-o), under-floor heating was very hard to set up in the main room. Managed eventually but I think the previous guests had put it to ‘holiday’, ie off for a long time… We love this gorgeous property (the Sonos is just excellent, as is the log-burner and of course the amazing location) and we’ll still return because we can swim, surf, paint, and go on early beach walks so easily. I absolutely loved the views from all windows. The location is great - it's busy with lots of people walking / driving past on their way to the beach but it's a nice buzz. Soundproofing in the house is v good. Facilities are very good and the house was very clean. It was a lovely place for a holiday house. A welcome cream tea and a bottle of prosecco was so kind. Thank you.

“This is a most Beautiful place to stay.”

Reserved parking immediately out front and views to die for. Lovely welcome package. Hand wash, hand cream etc. Very impressed indeed. It's a shame that the Bifold door in the kitchen, and the Kitchen window are both broken. Only the door can be used. I had to phone about this as a note hadn't been left, and was told they were aware but it can't be repaired until after the Summer bookings. However, it didn't spoil our stay, you have the Bi-folds in the Living Room to open so plenty of fresh Air. No small windows to leave open overnight, so can get a bit stuffy, only the Velux in the Bathroom, which shuts automatically if Rain is detected. Also, I did see other comments on the lack of crockery and that hasn't changed much. Set of 4 for Dinner service and only set of 4 for cutlery? Does have enough pans. Not a major issue but the spec of this property is so high, then they are stingy on that? Still, a wonderful stay was had and we shall return!

“For a self catering property this was very poorly equipped.”

We were left with a bottle of sparkling wine, which was appreciated but there was only one champagne flute. There was a small selection of glasses which were very poor indeed. There was no chopping board other than for bread, which was the the top of the bread bin. There was no bread knife. There was no cheese knife.The mugs we mismatched and of poor quality. One of the plates had a large chip on the edge. There were just three cereal bowls and there were just three desert spoons. This a great shame as the property is in an enviable position overlooking the beach and the sea. We stayed here in 2019 and it was much better equipped on that visit. Lastly the cleaning could have been better, there were huge cobwebs hanging from the living room ceiling and while we appreciate that it does have a high ceiling the cleaner should be provided with something to clean these away. We took up all these issues at the start of our stay with Sykes but nothing was done to correct any of the issues. We also called the cleaner and a message but we did not get the courtesy of a reply.

“The property was fantastic.”

It was very much a last minute booking and I am so pleased I found it. Ideally located, Sennen Cove was beautiful. The property was perfect, just what we wanted. It was clean and there were some 'treats' left for us. We will certainly be back. A little bit of other feedback - the sink in the bathroom took ages to drain and the shower over flowed! Not sure if the drains need a clear out. We could not use the Sonos as it need to be updated.

The accommodation is the perfect size for 2 people. It has everything you need and more. The views are quite simply breathtaking. The only down side was, you had to wait for the hot water to heat up again for a second person to have a shower. We will definitely book to stay here again ❤️

A table outside would be good as nowhere to sit and eat. Expensive but hopefully rates will be more realistic once the world settles down again

Location is amazing with sea views that you can stare at for hours. Even in a brief storm and windy autumnal weather the scenery is breathtaking. The flat is immaculately clean and well appointed. Bed is comfy, shower room superb. Everything you need.

The property

The village of Sennen Cove on Cornwall's north coast offers a beautiful spot to spend a holiday, home to this fabulous little property, The Old Beach Store.

It offers a wondrous location resting right before the beachfront, the sea views are a wonderful and constant feature of this contemporary home, perfectly suited to a couple.

Within the kitchen area, pale grey units hold a host of appliances including a slim dishwasher, with a breakfast bar which sits beneath the window, you can wake up to gorgeous coastal views everyday as you sip a morning coffee.

The sitting room is flooded with light from the bi-fold doors which allow you to let the outside in on sunny warm days, you can enjoy the Atlantic breeze, or for the colder months, admire the scenery from the comfort of the leather sofa as the underfloor heating warms you up after a brisk beach walk.

The enclosed patio is perfect for your dog to stretch their legs in the morning, while you sit at the outdoor furniture and enjoy the sounds of the ocean.

When you need some well-earned rest for another exciting day, head to the bedroom area, where a double bed is uniquely placed behind a cabinet to section it off from the rest, it creates a sweet little corner for you to rest in.

Freshen up in the fully tiled shower room with excellent fitting including a rainfall shower head, great for washing the sea and sand off after a beach day.

Spend your time in summer on the beach in Sennen Cove, where several pubs and cafés sit nearby so you can stop in there for lunch before returning to your spot.

Take a lesson at one of the surf schools to get good at Cornwall's favourite watersport, or enjoy exploring the South West Coast Path to see some wonderful coastal scenery.

Head to Land's End Landmark for a variety of attractions and activities within this lovely tourist spot, or go further south to The Minack Theatre which has been carved into the clifftop with productions from the Royal Shakespeare Company among many others.

The Old Beach Store is a delightful spot for any couple to enjoy a fantastic Cornish break.

SENNEN COVE

St Just 5 miles; Penzance 9 miles.

The small fishing village of Sennen Cove is situated close to Land’s End in Cornwall. The village has a lifeboat station, church, a couple of shops, a café plus two popular gastropubs. The town of St Just is the nearest town to Land’s End and has several monument and prehistoric antiquities, including a Bronze Age settlement at Cape Cornwall. The town also has a town hall, a church, shops and pubs, and Plain-an-Gwarry, a theatre used for miracle plays in medieval times. Porthcorno, which has the outdoor Minack Theatre is situated 5 miles away. The village of Mousehole is within a short drive where stargazy pie can be sampled. Also within reach is the town of Penzance, which boasts winding streets, shops, clubs, restaurants and a harbour, from where day trips to the Scilly Isles can be enjoyed. A lovely base for your Cornwall adventure.
