“From the owners email and follow up call to check we had all the information we needed to the well equipped kitchen and well managed living quarters this property deserves 5 stars.”

For those that have commented on road noise, it is a property fronting onto the road to Lands End, very minimal overnight use, and certainly not a huge factor to us during our stay. Noise level inside was minimal and infrequent 2nd week September. Also and no criticism here at all and please note at 6'0 I had very few issues, but our son is 6'5 and was unable to stand up in the house. There is an extension with living space and bedroom at the rear of the ground floor which has plenty of headroom so it was manageable. This is a factor in numerous Cornish cottages and I mention it whilst wishing to compliment the property on it's overall Presentation purely as those of significant height may wish to know. The area is just stunning, we have returned several times and Forge Cottage was comparable to the best cottages we have used. In assessing it I would suggest that if it was away from the main road and had higher ceilings it would be charging significantly more so my review is simply that Forge Cottage represented fantastic value for money in an area of outstanding beauty and great surf! It had everything we need from a holiday house. Recommended and we may return, but probably for breaks where my Son is not joining us!

The property

Forge Cottage is delectably charismatic, deceptively spacious and desirably positioned within a half hour walk of Sennen Cove at Lands End.

This gorgeous granite cottage combines a fusion of iconic Cornish character and contemporary flair, and boasts a big interior with beams, distant sea views and sits a stones throw from a fabulous foodie pub. Within a short walk from the cottage, Sennen Cove offers a popular stretch of sand and ocean for swimming and bathing, ideal for paddling and picnics.

The arc of sand at Whitesands Beach faces the ocean so the water is good for surfers with a seasonal lifeguard service.

There's a pub, café and surfside restaurant for refreshment, and the sunsets spied here are wonderful.

At the western end of the beach, the dinky harbour retains a timeless quality and the catch of the day can be bought from the small fleet of fishing boats that trade from the quay.

The mile long stretch of sand at Sennen Beach reaches to Gwenver Beach, a much favoured spot with families.

This magical unspoilt corner of Cornwall boasts dramatic and rugged seascapes within easy reach; a real rambler's paradise along the coast path and cliff tops with panoramic views over the Atlantic.

The peninsula is a unique destination promising beautiful scenery, awesome 200 foot granite cliff drops and sandy beaches including stunning Porthcurno.

The Minack Theatre is a must-see attraction with seats and stage carved from the cliff face set against the ocean backdrop. Forge Cottage makes a superb homestay for families, friends and couples, with legroom for all to relax and find their own space.

There are two sitting rooms; a cosy nook with a wood burner for fireside snugness, and a bright and modern glass ceilinged haven for all to gather.

Socialise around the dining table and feast well from kitchen creativity.

The bedrooms guarantee distant sea views or country vistas and the enclosed, private garden is a proper suntrap.

Enjoy lazy breakfasts, pasty lunches, four o'clocker cream teas and alfresco evening tipples.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

SENNEN

Land’s End 1 mile; St Just 5 miles; Penzance 9 miles.

The most westerly village in mainland Britain, Sennen has a lovely mile-long beach of pure white sand and is a very popular holiday destination. With excellent surfing conditions, the village has its own surf school – overlooked by a super-cool beach bar/restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows which make the most of the wonderful views. Once a hub of smuggling activity, Sennen still retains many secret passages – one of which is said to lead to the covered well in the Old Success Inn. Largely unchanged over time, this lovely village has a timeless appeal and is home to a gallery, a medieval church, an Iron Age fort and a small selection of shops where you can buy beachware, gifts and souvenirs, and a range of groceries. There is also a weekly Farmers’ Market in the village Community Centre each Tuesday morning. During the summer, the beach bar becomes a hub of activity and entertainment, with live music, weekly barbecues and popular surfing competitions.
