Cathy “The cottage is in a lovely, rural spot & had everything we needed.”
- Cathy, May 2025 -
Mary “We had a wonderful time, (helped by the nice weather).”
All you look out on is the rolling countryside, with sheep, horse, squirrels and of course Trevor and his family. Very easy to find and in a good position to see the south of Cornwall. Thankyou for the produce left as a welcome pack. We will be back sometime in the future. Thankyou again, lovely place to stay.
- Mary, March 2025 -
Andrew “Lovely cottage in a quiet setting, away from it all.”
View of over fields and hills is great to wake up to. The cottage is comfortable, and has all you need for your stay. Easy to get to lots of nice places, and the coast, and not far to shops, restaurants, take aways etc..
- Andrew, March 2025 -
Baz “It was a very nice place to stay, if I was being picky.”
Better outdoor lighting would be helpfull in the winter months, other than that it was spot on, the peacocks came to see us, the horse came to say hello, very nice , very happy, thankyou.
- Baz, December 2024 -
Judith Ann “Brilliant cottage .”
Off the beaten track ! Has everything you require .
- Judith Ann, October 2024 -
Laura “The main bedroom would benefit from a blackout blind being fitted and a few different cooking dishes.”
- Laura, August 2024 -
James “We loved our stay at Vine Cottage, quiet, calm and peaceful surroundings with the occasional visit from the farm animals was great for my daughter.”
The cottage was clean, facilities were perfect for post-beach days and home cooking too. Would happily stay here again.
- James, August 2024 -
Emily “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Vine Cottage.”
It was very clean and a great space. The beds were comfortable and the shower was brilliant. The addition of farm animals coming up to the fence, including 4 lovely peacocks was a bonus. It is situated in a peaceful farm environment and is the perfect place to unwind.
- Emily, August 2024 -
Tara “Lovely cottage, well equipped for a few days stay.”
Definitely in a quiet spot, the only noise being from the beautiful peacocks that came to welcome us each day!
- Tara, July 2024 -
Catherine “The garden was supposed to be enclosed or secured.”
It was neither. Our poor dog had to be on a lead constantly. We had hoped to give him a bit of freedom in the garden. This was our biggest disappointment. He has to be on a lead in public, but we had hoped to let him off the lead in private. The driveway to the cottage was rough, to say the least. I wish we had been warned it would be so pitted. My husband's car is much lower to the ground than mine and would not have made it up the driveway. The electrical point behind the bed in the twin room is hanging off the wall and is dangerous. It was like that when we arrived. The peacocks were noisy during the day and also the night. It kept us awake on a few nights. On top of that we found that the beds and sofas were uncomfortable for us, but that's just personal preference. Others may find them more comfortable. Perhaps a few cushions may assist? The view, however, was fantastic. We all really enjoyed that. It was nice to have the cattle and sheep come almost to the house.
- Catherine, June 2024 -
Alan “We had a lovely stay at Vine Cottage.”
It was peaceful and so relaxing to watch the livestock grazing. Visits from Trevor the peacock and the young peacocks, kept us entertained. The shower was amazing. The cottage is well situated for visiting various places. We even had some good weather. Great place to stay, we would highly recommend.
- Alan, June 2024 -
Elizabeth “A wonderful, peaceful property in beautiful, farmland countryside.”
Loved waking up to grazing brown cows under those shady oak trees plus sheep, horse and not forgetting Trevor + his fine friends. An amazing welcome, cream tea pack (plus coffee + loaf) awaited us. Good central position for walking and visiting Lost Gardens of Heligan and local beaches. A wonderful week. Thank you.
- Elizabeth, May 2024 -
Judith “Really good base for Fowey, Mavagissey, Charlestown, Lost Gardens & Eden project ...”
Really good base for Fowey, Mavagissey, Charlestown, Lost Gardens & Eden project we loved the cottage, warm welcome, so spacious, well equipped, spotlessly clean also with the farm location we were entertained by the animals and birds in the fields enjoyed every moment
- Judith, May 2024 -
Julie “A lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings.”
A generous welcome of goodies and helpful hosts make this a wonderful place to stay with easy access to all parts of Cornwall. Not that you need to go far as there is plenty to watch just outside the window!
- Julie, March 2024 -
Michell “Beautiful well equipped cottage in a rural area but nothings to far in a car.”
We spent Christmas here and it was so relaxing. Daily visits from peacocks, sheep and the horse were magical. We will definitely re book a return visit.
- Michell, December 2023 -
Rachel “This was a lovely holiday cottage!”
We were so grateful of the little added extras that were left in the property for us during our stay aswell! We loved the setting of this cottage being so rural, a real retreat! We would love to return. Thanks again!!

Simon “Lovely cottage on a working farm.”
Very peaceful and relaxing setting . The cottage was very clean with excellent facilities and the owner even supplied a welcome pack of food essentials. Perfectly placed for visiting all of Cornwall. Highly recommended.
- Simon, November 2023 -
Judith Ann “Perfect cottage ,off the beaten track .”
Everything you need . Cottage brilliantly situated to explore the south coast of Cornwall.
- Judith Ann, October 2023 -
Dave “The Vine cottage was beautiful and peaceful and worth the stay.”
The scenery was beautiful and it was lovely seeing the cows and sheep close up as well. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and also Trevor the peacock, who greeted us when we arrived. Great location and easy to get to beaches, activities and pubs/restaurants. Overall an excellent holiday. Thank you Will
- Dave, August 2023 -
Martin “As we both suffer a litle with our backs, a few cushions would have been appreciated, both for the sofas, and outdoor seats, but did not distract from a very enjoyable stay.”
Trev was a joy and quite entertaining! The visiters book was full, could do with a replacement.
- Martin, May 2023 -
Peter “Pros: The cottage was clean The hospitality of the owners was marvellous.”
The location is stunning. Cons: The lane leading to the premises is appalling. Need a 4X4. The mattresses are dreadful. What are the Peacocks doing there? They kept us awake all night.
- Peter, May 2023 -
Julie “Lovely cottage which suited us perfectly.”
Wonderful quiet location with beautiful views of primrose laden lanes. Will was incredibly helpful and we would definitely like to stay here again.
- Julie, March 2023 -
Richard “Both of us thoroughly liked Vine Cottage.”
It was lovely and clean and the the facilities excellent. Bearing in mind that it wasn't a holiday for us, but a mission of care Vine Cottage was the perfect solution for our needs. Our very grateful thanks should be passed onto Sarah and Will.
- Richard, December 2022 -
Shirley “Fabulous accommodation.”
Off the beaten track which is just what we were looking for - but close to the coast and the Lost Gardens of Helligan. Great.
- Shirley, September 2022 -
Alan “We were very pleased with the welcome pack The cottage was lovely where we spent ...”
We were very pleased with the welcome pack The cottage was lovely where we spent most of the holiday because of illness We were entertained by the peacocks and the daily visits of all the animals and the views were great
- Alan, June 2022 -
Adam “Whilst the cottage was in a lovely remote spot and the cleanliness was very good, I was disappointed with the outside area.”
The pictures on booking showed this to be very neat and tidy and it wasn't at all. The grass was very overgrown and weeds everywhere including lots of nettles. I didn't want to moan while we were there as we wanted to just enjoy our break but it did put us off using the outdoor area. I was told that if I had mentioned this to the owner it would have been sorted but I really don't think you should have to mention it when you pay £1000 for a four star accommodation. My garden at home is always neat and I don't have paying guests to come and stay. Overall It was a lovely holiday and this is a minor niggle but was disappointed and we won't be returning.
- Adam, May 2022Many thanks for taking the time to give your feedback, firstly I'm sorry that you were disappointed by the outside space. We work hard to make sure that the cottage is clean and well maintained so our guests can enjoy their stay. Obviously on this occasion we got the balance between a natural space and a formal lawn wrong. This was also exacerbated by the warm weather we had which lead to a burst of growth. Some of the green areas have been sown with wildflower seeds so they should give a beautiful display of colour and a provide a habitat for insects and pollinators, which also attract the wild birds. No doubt you saw lots of wildlife during your stay, that's one of the attractions of the cottage being located in a quiet rural area away from urban noise. In future we will keep a closer eye on the green areas and give them a cut as appropriate. Many thanks Will Property Owner

Judith “If you require a very relaxing break you cannot do better than stay in this very comfortable cottage.”
Very cosy and warm -a little piece of heaven! We have been here three times now and it never disappoints.Trevor the resident peacock is always there to welcome you and his displays are just fabulous. Please don’t change anything.
- Judith, May 2022 -
Gill “It was a very pleasant stay Will the owner was very helpful and gave us plenty ...”
It was a very pleasant stay Will the owner was very helpful and gave us plenty of ngo about Trevor the Peacock who entertained us with his magnificent tail feathers
- Gill, April 2022 -
Keith “Great location, peaceful and restful.”
Owners were friendly and the cottage was well equipped. Great to have the freezer for the dog raw food, so we could continue his usual feeding whilst on holiday. Zeus was fascinated by the peacocks.
- Keith, March 2022 -
Peter “Brilliant cottage in fantastic relaxing surroundings.”
Highly recommended!
- Peter, March 2022 -
Sue “Vine cottage is a modern, comfortable barn conversion in a peaceful setting and surrounded by beautiful countryside.”
Sarah and Will were very welcoming and left us a wonderful welcome pack to enjoy. Loved watching the lambs, peacocks and squirrels from the decking. So much to see and do in the area without having to travel far. Hope to stay again and would definitely recommend.
- Sue, March 2022 -
Alexandra “A comfortable and peaceful place to stay”
- Alexandra, February 2022 -
Sarah “Need bigger pillows as they were to flat and the headboard of the bed is uncomfortable when sitting up watching tv.”
The Wi-Fi wasn’t great and perhaps this could be stated in the listing. Overall a lovely place to stay with countryside views and the two Trevor’s (Peacocks) were entertaining to watch. Good selection of goodies left as a welcome pack. Will was very helpful and a fab host and couldn’t of done enough to help us have a good stay.
- Sarah, February 2022Hi, Thank you for your feedback and I'm glad that you had enjoyed your stay. Usually the Wi-Fi is very good as we have fibre broadband, however there was some disruption during your stay as a result of the storms and bad weather that we experienced. Many thanks Will Property Owner

Sarah “Fantastic cottage in a beautiful setting.”
Definitely recommend if you are wanting to get away from it all. The track to the cottage is a little rough and ready but you need to accept this as you are living on a working farm. One thing that would help would be to have the farm name on both sides of the entrance as we got a bit lost trying to find the place other than that we could find no fault and if we ever stay in Cornwall again we would stay at Vine Cottage.
- Sarah, November 2021 -
J “An amazing bolt hole away from the rat race!”
The location is remote, tranquil and top of our list of places to stay. The owners are friendly and make you feel immediately at home, even providing some lovely local goodies on arrival (yum!)
- J, November 2021 -
Julie “We had a lovely short break at Vine Cottage trying to avoid the fireworks.”
We had a stress free holiday and so did our border collie. It was lovely, clean and cosy. The welcome pack was fabulous and totally unexpected being as we were only there 3 nights! We enjoyed the views across the fields, the cheeky squirrels and the peacocks. The Autumn weather was quite kind too overall, so thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lanes can be daunting if you have a big car but the location more than made up for it! Would definitely consider staying again if in the area.
- Julie, November 2021 -
Karen “We had a lovely holiday staying at Vine Cottage.”
The welcome pack was so nice to find after our long journey. The cottage is comfortable, the surroundings & livestock were a pleasure. Also the peacocks were very entertaining. We can't wait to come back again next year
- Karen, June 2021 -
Vivienne “A very well stocked and comfortable cottage in a lovely quiet location.”
Not far from Mevagissey or St Austell. There was a large ‘pot hole’ at the beginning of the track leading to the lane that led us to the cottage which needs attention especially if you have not got a 4 x4!
- Vivienne, June 2021 -
Rachel “We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.”
The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped. It was a very peaceful location. The peacocks kept our dog awake the first night which led to a restless night, but apart from that we didn't really notice them. The bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing! I loved the 'smart' bathroom mirror. We would love to return.
- Rachel, May 2021 -
Clare “Lovely to have tea, coffee, milk, bread and a cream tea on arrival!”
Cottage was warm, clean and welcoming and the peacocks, cattle and sheep made excellent neighbours. If I was being really picky I'd add a few leaflets for local things to do on a wet day, but it didn't bother us as we are out walking whatever the weather.
- Clare, May 2021 -
Mary “Loved the place.”
Peace and quiet, apart from the sheep, cows and peacocks! well stocked.
- Mary, October 2020 -
Conrad “No. We left positive messages for the owner.”
- Conrad, August 2020 -
Susan “This cottage is in a very rural setting and is so peaceful.”
The animals are a joy to sit and watch and the antics of the peacocks are very amusing. The welcome pack left by the owners was extremely welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you
- Susan, July 2020 -
Lesley “The track to farm and cottage was very rutted and potholed.”
Future customers should be made aware of this.
- Lesley, December 2019We do agree that the farm lane was bumpy and pot holed, however that is not typical but because of the extreme rain we had during November and December some areas of the surface had been washed away. We reassure that the lane will be repaired very shortly thus improving the access back to normal. Property Owner

Yvonne “This cottage is a little gem hidden away in a quiet peaceful locality.”
We would certainly visit again in the future. By far one of the best we have ever stayed in.
- Yvonne, September 2019 -
Keri “Beautiful cottage set within the farm - idyllic retreat.”
Location perfect, amazing beaches and villages within a 5/10 minute drive.
- Keri, July 2019 -
Stephen “Fantastic cottage in an amazing location.”
Owners really friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone
- Stephen, July 2019 -
Joan “We have just spent another great week at Vine Cottage.”
The welcome basket was much appreciated. This year we had our ten month old grandson with us and he thoroughly enjoyed himself as we all did. It is such a peaceful place, lovely patio and parkland views. Inside the cottage is very comfortable. The weather was also great, sunshine all week. We hope to be back again next year.
- Joan, July 2019 -
James “Excellent property cream tea waiting on arrival, tea bags, coffee, milk and bread also provided.”
Cottage was spotless and just as advertised lovely views and entertained by the resident Peacock.
- James, June 2019 -
Jill “Cottage was lovely, comfortable, spacious and very well equipped.”
Situated next to the main farmhouse, but still in a secluded position, your neighbours are the farm's cows, sheep and a couple of peacocks ! If you are looking for peace & quiet Vine Cottage is definitely for you.
- Jill, June 2019 -
Chris “Enjoyed a very relaxing stay at Vine Cottage everything you needed and more!”
Will definitely return.
- Chris, June 2019 -
John “Ideal get away property no noise apart from the peacock who visited every day, well appointed and a nice little welcome pack.”
A little bit difficult to find and the farm entrance could do with a bigger sign as we missed it first time and had to back track. But apart from this really nice spot and handy for touring.
- John, May 2019 -
Judith “REally appreciated the fabulous cream tea, quite a treat to start the holiday.”
- Judith, April 2019 -
Dave “Beautiful cottage, located in a private farm.”
We loved our stay in Vine Cottage and would definitely recommend it for anyone with families.
- Dave, February 2019 -
Helen “Great quiet cottage with an amazing view out across the farm, to wake up to see sheep and lambs grazing only feet from your patio doors, and a visit from a peacock every morning.”
Well planned layout, comfortable place to spend our holiday, beautiful location to base Trips out. Lovely welcome Cornish cream tea etc loved the Christmas tree.
- Helen, December 2018 -
Philip “Vine cottage is a very well appointed barn conversion, finished to a good spec.”
Large, spacious rooms, very clean with everything needed for a great holiday. Location is good for exploring the area. The only constructive feedback would be to change the seating as the chesterfields are not very comfortable. Lovely welcome package.
- Philip, September 2018 -
Nick “This was the second week we have spent at Vine cottage and everything was just as good as our first time.”
very comfortable very secluded ideal for our needs.
- Nick, September 2018 -
Michelle “Had such a fantastic time here - beautiful views, wonderfully spacious and clean accommodation, friendly owners and all of the facilities were brilliant.”
We will be back and will definitely recommend. Thank you!

Amy “Gorgeous cottage set in a peaceful location.”
We instantly felt at home and didn’t want to leave! The owners were lovely and thought of everything to make us feel welcomed (clotted cream scones and tea were honestly the best welcome gift!). Little touches that made sure their guests had essentials upon arrival were really kind. Great family holiday home (we were family of 4 with a dog). The cottage was immaculate and well equipped. Couldn’t fault the cottage, would definitely recommend and will be returning ourselves.
- Amy, July 2018 -
wendelien “Perfect place to stay.”
First time in Cornwall and it really made us love it. Narrow roads every now and then shows driving skills. The cottage is perfect. The road to it is somewhat bumpy. The animal live is great to see and enjoy, directly off the veranda. There are some peacocks running around and they love to play with themselves in the reflection of your dark shiny car. Luckily the owner supplied a cover for your car to protect it.
- wendelien, July 2018 -
Helen “Well equipped modern little cottage.”
Finished to a high standard. Good quality beds and furnishings. Washing machine, dish washer, cooker, microwave, crockery, cutlery, bread, milk, tea, coffee, scones, Cornish butter, clotted cream & homemade jam all waiting for us. Even a vase of flowers on the table. Simply lovely. Beautiful views from the cottage- not a house in sight, just fields of sheep, cows and friendly peacocks. 2 pieces of advice for customers: 1) follow the directions given for getting there! We know the area pretty well and struggled to find it 2) take the drive slowly. It is perfectly situated for Heligan, Mevagissey and Goran Haven.
- Helen, June 2018 -
Brian “Great place to stay really peaceful, comfortable & nice scenery.”
We all enjoyed seeing the cows & sheep in the fields & the resident Peacock 'Trevor' kept our 2 year old grandson entertained. Plenty of attractions & beaches within easy reach, something to please everyone. A very warm welcome from the owners with tea, coffee, sugar, milk & Cornish cream tea supplied.
- Brian, June 2018 -
June “It was a lovely relaxing get away.”
Peacocks walking about and showing off there feathers, also a pheseant named Phill runs across the field to meet you so funny just like the road runner.
- June, April 2018 -
Kathryn “The cottage was fantastic and was ideally placed to visit all of the near by places.”
I would definitely book the cottage again next year. Definitely a 10/ 10 rating.
- Kathryn, September 2017 -

Kerryann “Fantastic cottage, lovely owners.”
My partner and I enjoyed our final trip away before having our first baby and would highly recommend Vine Cottage to all.
- Kerryann, November 2016 -
Peter “We had a great week in Vine Cottage which was extremely well set up and very comfortable.”
We had not stayed in this area before so this was to be close to areas of Cornwall we did not know too well. We loved Vine Cottage but have decided we prefer the north coast which is where we have been going for the past 40+ years. The only criticism of Vine Cottage was minor in that there could have bee more crockery and cutlery. This was however a very minor complaint, easily rectified by the owners, but the overall impression was that there was little else that could be improved upon! Put this cottage on the north coast and we'd never go anywhere else!
- Peter, September 2016 -
Nick “A fantastic property, light ,clean and modern with everything you need in a quiet private spot.”
- Nick, September 2016 -
Karen “Very relaxing and a real home from home.”
Words cannot give the location justice. We were looking for somewhere to chill and relax and Vine Cottage was just what the doctor ordered,we loved it!
- Karen, August 2016 -
Maureen “The owners were friendly and helpful without intruding on our privacy.”
We really enjoyed our stay at Vine Cottage.
- Maureen, July 2016 -
Richard “On the whole the holiday bungalow was excellent, and very clean.”
It is well in the middle of a working farm, and it was a delight to wake up in the morning to see the livestock just outside our windows. It was very peaceful. The owners were exceptional hosts.
- Richard, June 2016 -
Rebecca “The whole property was beautiful.”
It was clean, presented beautifully and in an idyllic setting.
- Rebecca, May 2016 -
Tina “Vine Cottage is beautifully done to a high standard with spectacular views all around.”
The owners of the cottage were lovely, helpful and hospitable. We will definitely recommend to our friends.
- Tina, January 2016 -
Olga “A superb cottage; very well appointed.”
It was comfortable, warm, stylish & spacious. Blissfully secluded on a Cornish farm with birds and animals busy all around. It was a joy to return to after a day out and about. Will probably return, and will certainly recommend. Perhaps our best ever holiday accommodation.
- Olga, November 2015 -
Robert “We were very impressed with the cottage, we would both recommend it to family & friends and stay again.”
- Robert, September 2015 -
