Quiet, relaxing and yet only a short drive to Padstow and beaches. Really comfortable cottage, which I’d highly recommend.

Just back from a week staying at Sundowner.

It was perfect! Absolutely everything I needed for a lovely relaxing break. I cannot recommend it enough. So peaceful and relaxing.

WOW ~ What can we say about this stunning, very clean holiday cottage in a lovely quiet location.

The house was outstanding and has everything you need even loads of books, leaflets and maps about the local area. So comfortable and very peaceful and waking up to horses in the next field was lovely.

Another great stay in this exceptionally well equipped cottage.

A bit disappointed with the amount of dust around.

My dog lost her toy beneath one of the sofa's and the small wall unit and it was filthy underneath. Her toy came out covered in dust webs.The shower in the twin room wasn't clean, there were hairs in the tray and dust webs hanging from the ceiling. Door from the sitting area also had dog marks on the glass on arrival Lastly to say they are so many rules about the property I found old dog pooh under one of the sun beds! I was not happy. We were surprised when the bins were emptied and grass cut on the Friday instead of getting Saturday. However it is set in a very peaceful area and at first glance the Sundowner looked really well set out.

4th visit to Sundowner and never disappointed.

We loved every minute of our week here, it was easy access to all the places we wanted to visit and was so comfortable to come back every night, we will definitely return.

First time at Sundowner.

Lovely stay. Even the weather was kind (February!). Wooden or tile floor throughout which is great if you bring your dog. VERY secure back garden unless you have a very small dog with great views onwards. Good size also! Good supply of utensils/utilities in the kitchen. We were impressed and will look to book again.

Stayed for a week.

The cottage was faultless. Everything and everything you need to stay very comfortable. Lots of little notes around the cottage. These little notes were more like tips to improve your stay. Location perfect. Perfect for the dog. Secure back garden. We will return.

It is the second time I have stayed at Sundowner and said after the first visit that it was one of the best self catering properties I have ever stayed in.

This time I took a friend and we both felt the property was exceptional. The furniture, fixtures and fittings were of the highest quality and the equipment in the kitchen was so comprehensive we couldn’t find anything to fault it. The owners have gone above and beyond in providing everything you may need and have taken the trouble to add beautiful ornaments and art work.

Another wonderful stay at Sundowner - and this time the rest of the family joined me for the second week and were equally impressed.

Such a stunning location - handy for great beaches but still secluded with amazing countryside views. Exceptionally well equipped and just a lovely place to stay and relax. Thanks again.

The cottage met all our needs and was such a lovely stay.

Very comfortable and had everything we needed , the outdoor furniture was a welcomed extra for the sunny days. We will be back and can really recommend the Sundowner.

The cottage was a gem.

The garden was large and very suitable for travelling with a dog. The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Sundowner was very well maintained and an excellent base for a holiday exploring the many lovely beaches and coastal walks in the area.

As always, a wonderful stay in this homely cottage in a fantastic rural setting, yet only 20 minutes from Wadebridge or Padstow.

It is by far the best equipped cottage I have ever stayed in over many years with a whole range of kitchen equipment in particular alongside a washer dryer and even a range of DVDs. Looking forward to my next stay already.

We had a wonderful stay at Sundowner.

The house had everything we needed including every possible thing you might need which made it feel more like a home from home than any other property we have stayed at. The property was a short drive to Padstow and very easy to access all the places we wanted to visit. Thank you, we had a great time.

Good location and very clean.

Great garden for the dog and kids. Beds are very uncomfortable and need an upgrade, the sofa isn’t comfortable either. Also too many instructions and signs telling you what to do!

We are a couple in our 40s with two kids, aged 5 and 6.

Pros: The house had plenty of space for the kids to play. The bedrooms were spacious. There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Lovely sunset views. Good location. Quiet location as long as the neighbours are quiet too - the property is part of a group of 4 that surrounds a courtyard. Cons: The house was full of black dog hair, which we were told was from the previous occupants. It wasn't obvious at first, but all week we were finding it in our clothes, beds, food, our kids' blankets and teddies etc. There was also a pervasive smell of dog. We didn't realise the property was dog friendly (it's not something we would normally check for) and maybe this level of uncleanliness is to be expected in such a property, but that will be something we keep an eye out for in future bookings elsewhere. Not much space in the kitchen cupboards to store our food and other bits and bobs. The parking space isn't right at the front, so carrying our stuff back and forth was awkward. Improvement ideas: restrictors on the windows would help occupants with kids feel safe enough to have the bedroom windows open on a warm night, darker curtains in the twin room to block out the sunlight - we hung blankets over the curtains to act as black-out curtains, clear some superfluous equipment out of the kitchen to provide more storage space.

This cottage is just excellent in every way - from how it is equipped and cleaned to the information given about everything and its situation - with wonderful views.

The dog loved it too! I have been staying here regularly for a few years now and have already booked for next year. It is truly a lovely place for a relaxing holiday.

Perfect cottage, Perfect location

Lovely barn in a courtyard setting with a handful of other holiday properties.

The owner has equipped this property to a very high standard. Quality fittings ie Dualit and Bosch, Joules bedding and many others. Bathrooms and kitchen of good quality. Private secure and very large garden overlooking a wild flower meadow. Fabulous for doggy. Homely with good books, maps, games etc, good art display on the walls and caters for every eventuality. There are notes all around the property so you know where things are, what to do on leaving ,sorting rubbish etc etc, we found this fair and reasonable because they were our standards as well and shows how the owner is passionate about providing an excellent quality holiday property. The owner responds quickly ( text) with any issues ( we had a dustbin query). Comfy clean bed. More kitchen equipment than at home ! Outdoor seating to 3 areas so can always find the sunshine. Parking only yards from property. Would suggest Tesco at Wadebridge for supplies, 15 mins away. We enjoyed fresh food from Steins in Padstow. Access route to main roads and Padstow is via a narrow single road, but fine and normally pretty quiet.- we went via Vineyard route to Padstow. Reviews in guest book indicate repeat guests, and hopefully we will also be returning to Sundowner when next visiting the area. Overall excellent property.

A well equipped lovely cottage.

The garden was excellent for our dog to runaround in. It was nice and peaceful area to stay in and was close to the areas we like to visit in Cornwall.

Lovely property, remote location nice a quiet.

Will need a car, lots of things to do locally and nice places to eat/ visit. Heating didn’t seem to work in 2nd bad room but didn’t bother us as it was a nice warm week. Beautiful views from main bedroom. Could do with a few extra dishwasher tabs and some spare washing powder but only minor. Nice pack of biscuits & half pint milk on arrival. Think Sykes need to revisit the check in/ check out times post covid as they are still abit silly for people wanting to enjoy the most out of their holidays. Really enjoyed our stay at sundowner.

Beautiful barn conversion which has everything you need and more.

Location is spot on - quiet and private, yet close to so many wonderful bays, beaches and places to visit. A wonderful place to stay - we would highly recommend.

Lovely cottage, beautifully quiet but with easy access to beaches etc.

Considering the fact that we came in February we had a great week and benefited from being in your nice warm cottage. Looking forward to our next trip in October, That rather says it all I think!

Our weeks holiday at Sundowner Cottage was amazing.

On arrival, the cottage was warm, very clean and welcoming. The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, and I believe every piece of kitchen equipment and utensil you will ever need. The decor and furnishings are stunning and well thought out. The underfloor heating is excellent as is the log burner and supplied logs. The WIFI is stable, reliable and fast enough for most things. We took our dog and she loved the very large and secure open garden. The bedrooms are of a reasonable size and beds are comfortable. Both bedrooms have a modern en-suites and the ‘boost’ button for the hot water allows a plentiful supply of water for a bath. The utility has a downstairs toilet, sink, washer/drier and plenty of space to hang up coats or to store things. The immediate area is very peaceful and we didn’t hear a vehicle all week. There is plenty of parking with easy access to the cottage. In summary, Sundowner Cottage is first class and we cannot recommend it highly enough. We will be booking again. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Great communication and care from both the owner and the housekeeper.

Always immaculate and a lovely welcome from Gina the housekeeper. Another great stay. If the wifi was more reliable it would be perfect ;-) but having said that it did encourage me to read more! I’ve already booked for next summer!

Fabulous home from home, beautiful finishing touches everywhere.

Although we didn’t take my dog the cottage is very dog friendly with an expansive fully enclosed garden. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Very good facilities and layout of cottage.

Nice and warm, particularly the utility room for drying clothes/boots, particularly for Winter visits. Good value for money.

We had a brilliant stay here with our toddler and dog.

The cottage is well equipped and there are clear instructions for everything. The location is also perfect with lots of beaches and great places to eat a short drive away.

Our second visit so we knew what to expect from the cottage.

We like everything about it. Excellent accommodation, easy to use appliances, light and bright even when it’s raining. The standard of cleanliness is excellent and both the owners and housekeeper are very pleasant and easy to deal with. Plus the weather this time was great with low tides and lots of waves!

It allowed us to come back, from our days out, each evening and relax in absolute silence. Local attractions, such as excellent beaches and local towns are only a short distance from the property. We would definitely stay at this cottage again.

Beautiful cottage is lovely quiet location.

Lots of facilities and comfort. Bin bags would be a welcome addition. And a larger bed on the master. Heating is quite tricky to control, not sure if the settings had been set up correctly. Lots to do in the local area, car is essential. Lots of lovely beaches nearby too.

We had a lovely holiday despite the weather.

The cottage was very welcoming and extremely well fitted with everything we required for a self catering stay. We would recommend this to older people as well as young families.

The cottage is exceptionally well equipped.

A lot of thought has been put in to make it comfortable and attractive. It has a lovely contemporary ‘Cornish’ feel with some beautiful art and craft items in every room. The accommodation works very well for four adults and a dog. There is plenty of space for cooking and eating. Outside was excellent for the dog and again there was everything you needed to enjoy this area. The dog was safe and he had lots of room to runaround. We plan to return again and would definitely recommend to others.

What a treasure of a find this beautifully converted barn is.

We had a very restful and enjoyable stay. Sundowner is extremely well equipped; we like to cook and there was everything you could possibly need to enjoy this! We particularly loved the two separate seating areas in the garden to capture morning and evening sunshine. We loved this cottage so much we would have moved in permanently!

We had a lovely time exploring Cornwall and a cosy stay at Sundowner.

The garden was a great feature to have. All rooms were large and nicely decorated. The mattresses in the beds were hard (so it depends if you like them like this) but for people with a bad back it wasn’t the best sleep. We did request for the mattresses to be made into a king size bed as advertised and for two sets of keys to the property if possibly. Both requests were not met unfortunately. We also asked if the property had beach items which it did but for some reason we were told it didn’t so we brought them unnecessarily. I think Sykes need to take more responsibility for going above and beyond for making your holiday extra special.

Well maintained and finished.

We couldn’t fault Sundowner cottage.

We took some of our own cooking utensils based on previous self catering accommodations but we needn’t have as it was equipped beyond our needs. The cottage felt like staying in a home rather than a holiday cottage & there’s even a lockup / shed full of garden and beach equipment. We wouldn’t hesitate staying here again and felt sorry to return home. It was a really comfortable base from which to explore Cornwall.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week holiday at Sundowner, St Issey.

The cottage worked really well for our family of four and felt like home by the end of the holiday. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were good and clean. The lounge is comfortable but not quite as clean as the upstairs (the property accepts dogs so I think the dogs hairs are a bit hard to shift). The kitchen is very well equipped and has every utensil you could possibly think of. Could do with some proper oven gloves though! The parking area is very spacious and safe when loading up the car with kids and beach stuff. The location of the property is fantastic to see all the sights and the beautiful beaches. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property. Thanks!

Perfect location.

Beautiful country countryside views. The property itself is very well thought out & has everything you could need. We were so impressed we've already booked to stay there again in 2019.

We liked the property and location, however it wasn't overly clean, even had to buy own roasting pan (which I annoyingly left behind!

) The utility room hadn't been cleaned for some time! In addition the grass was left fairly long in the garden....when you accept dogs this makes poo picking hard, as we found some that had been left from previous!

We’ve had a fantastic holiday back in Cornwall visiting all our favourite spots.

Sundowner was in the perfect location to do this & was also close to some lovely beaches. It was extremely comfortable in a lovely quiet location. The local farmer was very friendly & humoured our sons love of tractors! It was perfect, thank you Sykes, we can’t fault it, apart from the week went too quick!

It’s locality close to 7 dog friendly beaches
