Puffins Rest

Beautiful house in a very interesting setting.

Despite being in the heart of a busy livery stable accommodating up to 60 horses, once our somewhat confused sat- nav eventually located the house , we had a comfortable and quiet stay in the wonderfully presented property.

We have been to Puffins Rest twice but we are still yet to see anyone who owns the property.

I think it would be nice to have five minute contact with the owner and to be shown the property.

This was our 1st dog vacation with our reactive furbaby.

He was very calm and relaxed which made us happy. The accommodation was perfect well thought out especially with the thought of a dog. It was lovely quiet and peaceful. Loved the extras when we arrived after a long journey with being able to have a hot drink and biscuit and later a lovely cider (cornish). We would definitely recommend and would book another break here.

Everything that you need was there. All on one level. Lovely secure garden for our dogs. The livery stable next door was quiet, even with the farrier visits. If going down that way again we would definitely choose to stay there, and would be happy to recommend. In the country but not too far to get to a main road to visit all the places of interest in the area. Lots of National Trust places that welcome dogs are on your doorstep. In fact if you could pick it up and take it to every location that we have yet to visit been to it would be perfect.

Wonderful cottage, large and superbly finished.

The owner left instructions to ignore sat nav and follow her concise directions. I ignored her advise and ended on a road only passable by tractor or proper 4x4. When I followed her advise the property was easy to get to. So the only problem we had was caused by my own stupidity. Can't wait to go back again, easily the best cottage we have rented. We couldn't be more impressed.

We love this place, it is bright, roomy, spotlessly clean and everyone in the livery yard next door is friendly, our dog loves it too.

We missed our morning visit from the lovely cat that was here last time, I hope nothing has happened to it, and we didn't quite get what to do with the recycling as the instructions didn't match. We will be coming again!

A generous sized property, with plenty of space to enjoy internally.

The garden is fully enclosed so ideal for our dog to explore alone. The kitchen is well equipped, although we only cooked a few times in the cottage as we were out and about the local areas. The private and secure parking was a bonus.

Last minute booking and weren’t disappointed.

Fantastic spacious property and ideal position for exploring all of West Cornwall. Owners friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were there during storm Goretti and had no electricity a lot of the time but still thoroughly enjoyed our stay in testing weather conditions. Would definitely return again

We booked Puffins Rest for a quiet Christmas getaway.

The accommodation was fantastic. Clean, very well maintained, looked new. Very comfortable, clean with excellent facilities and heating. Location is very good for exploring Cornwall. Loved it. Would fully recommend this property fir a relaxing time away. John and Christine from Gloucestershire

It's spacious, warm and quite luxurious and well-equipped.

That and the location suited us perfectly and we'd love to stay again some time.

Lovely property, spotlessly clean, very modern with all facility's available.

Situated in a Livery yard in the countryside surrounded by horses, great for horse lovers. Only a 5 minute drive into Marizion where there is a 2 mile stretch of sand and some great coastal walks. Great touch with the welcome gifts, would certainly stay again, thank you.

What a perfect holiday cottage puffin’s rest is- clean, cosy and very comfy!

It is extremely well equipped with all you could need, has great private outside space and is in a great location for exploring Cornwall. Thank you to the owners who have clearly put a lot of thought and love into making this a special place. Can’t wait to return!

Perfect, very clean, spacious all the facilities you need.

The little gifts on arrival were lovely. The area was very quiet and peaceful with easy access to local amenities. Parking right next to the house is perfect for loading and unloading the car. Highly recommend! The Dog enjoyed the garden and knowing its fully enclosed gave me peace of mind.

Out of all of the properties we have stayed in 'Puffins Rest' has been the best by far.

It is definitely one that we would return to again without hesitation.

A lovely holiday let everything that you needed would definitely book to go again

We were very happy with every aspect of the accommodation.

All very clean and comfortable. The welcome gifts were a nice touch. The garden was safe and secure for our dog which was important for us. Highly recommend Puffins Rest to anyone wishing to spend time (especially with a dog) in this beautiful part of the country.

Puffins Rest is an exceptional property, unique in its huge lounge/diner/kitchen with property wide west facing picture window.

This property is very secluded, but only 1mile from the popular resort of Marazion and 4mikes from Penzance. Although situated on a working farm with livery stables, it was very quiet. The property was spotless and very comfortable. This is the 2nd time we've stayed there and thoroughly recommend .

It is located in an ideal location to visit nearby attractions and sights. We would highly recommend the accommodation. The welcome treats were a bonus.

It's so lovely and peaceful and such a relaxing environment. It looks great, feels great and gives a modern vibe yet stays cosy! The place was clean and tidy and had everything you need! Great communication and information from the owners!

Great property for our week long holiday.

Spotlessly clean, and had many useful things like Tupperware and beach towels! Great location for lots of things in Cornwall. I would absolutely recommend to anyone! Small note if you are planning on staying, don't forget cooking essentials (salt, pepper, oil) as these weren't provided.

Fantastic property and location will definitely be back

Puffins Rest is an absolute gem of a find, with everything you will need to have a fabulous stay in Cornwall.

Our cocker spaniel Barley had the best holiday, she was safe in the fenced garden, had outdoor warm showers after sea swimming, a pet welcome pack and treats provided. We had high standards of cleanliness, excellent welcome pack, everything we needed, privacy and the seating and lazy beds made the outdoor patio such a great space in the sun. Directions provided by the owners are spot on, so don’t follow your sat nav! We highly recommend a trip Trewidden Gardens, fabulous place to relax and take a walk around the beautiful gardens, and the food is great, you may want to split your sandwich between two!!! A must is to go to Marizion, grab a pasty from Philps and take in the views of St Michael’s Mount. Grab a fab breakfast at Helly’s Deli Bar near the harbour in Penzance, staff are so friendly and the cooked breakfast is great! We were in Penzance a few years ago and they have definitely significantly invested in the sea front promenade, so clean now and the walk to Newlyn is fab, oh and grab a coffee and cake from Pickles, best coffee and cake we had!!! We would highly recommend Puffins Rest and definitely be back again!!

Well equipped and decorated to a high standard. Located in a peaceful setting with access to the local area within a short drive. There is a secure and enclosed garden with outside furniture and completely dog friendly. Parking on allocated space outside the property. Owner and helpful assistance on hand if needed. Puffins Rest was a lovely property, very clean & nicely decorated.

The garden was safely enclosed & our dog Ruby enjoyed running around. The property had all the equipment we needed & the welcome ciders were a nice touch! We were blessed with gorgeous weather for our stay & had a lovely week. Would definitely recommend Puffins Rest.

Excellent property well finished with all the kitchen appliances and utensils required.

Beautiful lounge area for relaxing and smart tv. Bathroom is lovely shower, oval bath, sink and toilet. The bedroom is also very nice however the room only has a double bed. It is easily a big enough room to accommodate a king size bed. Which would be more appropriate as it is the only one. Outside the enclosed garden is excellent for your dogs and a very nice patio area to soak up the sun.

The property was amazing, clean comfortable and a nice place to be.

It was home from home, all fully equipped . Kitchen had everything, usually there's 1 or 2 things missing. Living room was spacious and comfortable, but also cosy at night. Bathroom and bedroom were modern and looked brand new, with plenty of storage. Will definitely re-book this property , we had a lovely peaceful holiday here.

We loved our stay in Puffin's Rest.

It was clean, comfortable and had all the essentials for a four night getaway. The outside area was perfect for the dog, totally private and securely enclosed. We came and went via Marazion as Gears Lane which leads into Goldthisney is essentially a bridle path and no-through road. With plenty of signs, we found the property easily in the light. My only minor (minor minor) niggle was no salt or pepper - we found an empty salt cellar (which we filled) but no pepper. Not a major problem though and easily overcome.

We loved the property and would definitely like to stay again.

It's in a fab location for visiting my family and getting to the beach for our early morning dog walks!!! The enclosed garden is great for our dog too. Thank you.

Absolutely lovey property, spotless in every way, well equipped, lovely furnishings, bed was sooo comfortable, and our morning visitor delightful (our dogs first introduction to a cat that didn't run away).

We did not find it easily though, the address being "Goldsithney" is misleading as our SAT NAV took us to the opposite end of Gears Lane, which although it apparently goes right through, is only really passable in the centre by a 4x4. The best advice I would offer is to head through Marazion for the tiny hamlet of Plain-an-Gwarry and enter Gears Lane there. The property is at the back of the livery stables down the lane on the right, before you get to the old engine house chimney. We would definitely recommend.

Very well equipped, a real home away from home. Follow the owners directions rather than satnav as we came in from the other side of Gears Lane and very nearly got stuck! Would love to return one day

Fantastic property in a great location for exploring Cornwall.

Great variety of quiet footpaths direct from the property. Lovely spacious property, had everything we needed and welcome hamper was much appreciated. Great parking and the hot and cold water tap/shower for washing muddy paws and boots is a great addition. Loved the secure fully enclosed garden and seating options though weather didn't allow us to utilise this. Would highly recommend this property!

The only reason I gave 4 stars for the listing not 5, was that cottage is immaculate and peaceful, but wasn't easy to find using the instructions given.

I would suggest that the post code is not used in the Sat-Nav. To find the cottage I would suggest that the you key Plain-An-Gwarry, Marazion (or try Tregurtha Downs Farm, Marazion) into the Sat-Nav. When you arrive in Plain-An-Gwarry, look for a lane opposite the houses, The lane has a "No Through Road" sign. On the left, as you turn into the lane, you will see a sign for Tregurtha Downs Farm and a smaller sign pointing to Puffins Rest. Then, when you come to the farm buildings on your right go through the 2nd gate, and past the buildings on your right. The cottage is tucked behind the buildings.

Fabulous holiday cottage with everything you need and in a great location

We only stayed at the cottage for 1 night.

Although the property was absolutely beautiful, spacious and well equiped it was very remote with a 4 mile round trip to walk to the nearest pubs / restaurants. As our mobility was not good this was not an option. 2 points about the cottage ,the bed seemed rather small and we could only get BBC on the TV. I think this property would be more suited to people who like to do a lot of walking .

Very comfy with a large living space.

Modern decor, all very clean and well presented. Secure garden perfect for two greyhounds to have freedom to potter about. Loo seat fell off but was fixed in minutes by a nice cheerful lady. A field walk straight from the door and only a short drive to shops and beaches.

Wonderful stay, everything you could need supplied, very comfortable and clean.

A wonder recently converted property superclean comfotable an quiet.

Great setting on a farm and livery stables. Has a lawn and, patio with outdoor furniture with the most wonderful full width sliding glass doors facing west. The owners have put a lot of thought into with many lovely welcome touches including 2 x towelling dressing gowns. Not many places have a bath and shower. Cant recommend highly enough.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Puffin’s rest.

Thankyou for allowing us to bring our two dogs which was our main consideration when booking. The property is really well equipped and therefore allows a relaxing holiday immediately on arrival. Our weather was good so the sunny garden and excellent furniture was a real bonus. Our only criticism was the 4’ 6 “ bed being a touch small and firm. We did however get used to it after one or two nights.

This was the nicest place we have stayed.

The bungalow is beautiful, finished to an extremely high spec. Has everything we needed. Absolutely spotless. Very peaceful. Our dog loved the garden, and so safe for him Highly recommended. Just beautiful Thankyou

We were very impressed by the quality and cleanliness of the house.

The welcome pack was much appreciated and the dog biscuits were a great touch, little things like that make such a difference. The location was ideal for exploring the far west of Cornwall, but away from the ‘maddening crowds’. The what3words address for finding you worked brilliantly.

This lovely homely holiday property had everything we needed and we and our two springers were made to feel very welcome.

We had a wonderful stay at Puffins Rest,the accommodation was first class and very spacious for a two person let.

The weather wasn’t the best for our stay but we did go in April,but the outdoor garden space and the facilities would be something to enjoy in better weather. For us it was a little bit out of the way but that wouldn’t put us off returning for another stay.

We have used Sykes on several occasions and with all properties that we have booked are of a very high standard , but PUFFINS REST tops the lot.

Stunning property set in an idyllic location , in close proximity to all of Cornwall outstanding natural beaty spots. very modern.everything you need ...sadly will not be returning only because furniture not suitable for a couple of old crocs celebrating 48 yrs marriage. We found the benches at the dining room table a little challenging. However I would recommend this property. To familyand friends.xx

Lovely property really quiet

Could do with a bit clearer destination instructions, we were so close to it at the end spend half an hour going round in circles, cold do with a little sign on the gate wall

The directions to the cottage needs a sign post once you reach Gears Lane, possibly next to the Livery Stables sign.

There also needs to be a sign once you reach the Livery stables to confirm where the cottage is. However, we had a super break in an amazing cottage!

Hearing the sound of horses hoofs walking past, the darkest skies you can imagine (at night, no light pollution), the place is very tranquil.

Everybody we met there were very pleasant and happy to talk. Exceptional welcome pack, even included fresh milk in a jug which was a nice touch. Has all you will need for your visit, even a garden hose so you can wash your car down after the Cornish roads. Washing machine and dishwasher fitted, really nice induction hob and large fridge freezer for all your needs. Overall the pictures do not give it justice, we thought we were coming to a small shed like structure, but wow, when you walk through the front door, its totally huge, enough heating to heat the ice caps if you do get cold. And a private garden area large enough for many. the worse part for us was that we had to leave, we could totally have lived there. Perfect in every detail, and they paid attention to detail when they renovated it and kitted it out. am already in talks with the family who live close by to come visit again. travel lodge or premier inn?? no thanks, this will be the first place we look for now.
