This was our third stay at Avallon.

Never disappoints - excellent and well equipped property in a quiet location. The dogs enjoyed exploring the grounds and nearby beaches. So hidden away, but close enough to amenities and places to visit. Amazing place 10 stars ⭐️

We had a great week the house was nice and comfortable and our dogs loved the garden and grounds

A nice quiet location within acres of fields, pleasant walks over the fields with our dogs.

The accommodation was comfortable and well set up for 4/6 persons. Beds were comfortable and clean. Bathrooms were fine, towels were excellent, Kitchen well laid out with plenty of dinnerware and cutlery. Cooker was ok, but knobs had the heat levels worn away. Some cooking trays were left in the oven and they were not clean as there was some food residue encrusted on them, one tray was stained very badly, but the owner had baking parchment available and this was fine. Inside the property we had minor issues with the hot water and this was rectified with a phone call to the owner. Insufficient lighting in the conservatory, as there is only one standard lamp available. Outside light did not come on every time we left or entered the conservatory door, at evening/nighttime. One wall light not working in the living room, managed to find a bulb and replace. Refuse bins at the top of the drive were full on arrival and not emptied on designated days, we had nowhere to put our full bin liners, therefore we had to leave a two full refuse sacks outside the bins. It is disappointing in this day and age that there are no recycling facilities at the property . Overall our stay was great as the property, it was well situated for us to explore the areas of Cornwall we wanted to see.

I highly recommend this property.

This property was just so fresh, peaceful and relaxing, especially if you have children or dogs. There is so much land for them to venture in. It took the stress out of having the dogs with us. The wood floors and leather sofas are fantastically easy for keeping everything so clean and fresh. Elizabeth (Liz) was very easy to talk to. I highly recommend this great retreat. It was central close to where we wanted to visit. The sound of the water throughout the day and night was just so charming. The night sky was illuminated with stars as there was no light pollution. The beds are so comfortable, you are recommended a great night sleep especially added with all the fresh air. Just perfect for us. Take your t.v subscription password. If you want to watch extra tv movies. Thank you Sykes for yet another great holiday home.

We all had a lovely time and would certainly like to revisit Avallon again.

The dogs had a blast and would recommend Avallon to all their canine friends.

Back again , we love Avallon , it’s a perfect base for exploring , the dogs love the stream and the fields , the enclosed secure garden is a bonus.

Another amazing week at Avallon and the sun was shinning all week - we were very lucky!

Our dogs had fun in the fields and in the river which they always love. Able to sit outside each evening to enjoy the weather and relax. Many thanks will be back next year.

This is the second time we’ve been this year, it’s perfect for us and our 3 dogs, ( 2 labs and a cocker ) they love exploring the fields and the stream, and can be contained in the secure fenced off garden, we absolutely love it.

We had a lovely stay at Avallon.

It is situated in a really peaceful part of the country with a stream where you can go paddling and very large private grounds that you can make full use of. I would’ve given it a higher rating, but the start of our holiday was slightly spoiled. The owner kindly agreed that we could check in an hour early but the cleaner then arrived 20 minutes after and was a little rude. She only spent about 30 minutes cleaning and said she had done a big clean the week before, but after she left, we found that the fridge freezer had not been emptied and The fridge have been turned on when I arrived we had to put it in a warm fridge. Also a little disappointed that the barbecue mentioned in the listing wasn’t available. If we knew the property would be cleaned properly, we would book again. Didn’t raise these two issues with the owner as she seemed to be very busy and wasn’t local, and we didn’t want to deal with the Cleaner again.

A lovely place to stay.

A little dated in places but comfortable. The showers and beds were good. A cosy and good sized lounge with a smart tv. A fenced garden area and plenty of private land to walk dogs and entertain kids outside of the gaden. Easy to get to local shops and beaches.

This is the 4th time we have stayed at Our Happy Place Avallon.

.. We just love the location and the peace and quite of the cottage... already booked again for 2025.

We absolutely love Avallon , We are back again in September , I think that says it all.

Perfect for us and our dogs, it’s our 2nd visit there and hope to return in the future.

Very comfortable, clean and private

We had another wonderful four week stay at Avallon in jan/feb.

It never disappoints, on arrival the house is always warm, clean and cosy, daffodils, cream, scones and jam to greet us, such a lovely touch. The house is so ideally situated to visit so many places, shops nearby, beaches and inland walks. The huge garden and fields are perfect and doggie friendly. The house has everything you could possibly want for a perfect holiday.

We absolutely love it there. The garden, while slightly wild is such a lovely space for the dogs to run around in, with a secure section for them to do their business at night. The house is small and cosy with everything you could need. The house is so conveniently located with supermarkets and the beaches only a short drive away. We've booked already for next year!

This property was perfect for us and our four dogs.

It was like a home from home with all the comforts that were needed. The small garden was just perfect. It was secure, safe and clean.

We have been numerous times.

Every time we see improvements. The house is always cleaned to a high standard, has all the comforts of home. We bring our dogs and having plenty of space to run around is a great benefit. Thank you.

Slightly scruffy downstairs which suited us as we had a dog.

Excellent garden fencing. Grounds and garden poorly maintained with brambles taking over everywhere. Great location. Excellent shower. Good kitchen. Unable to get TV to work.

The house is well situated to visit many wonderful places. The house is well equipped, comfortable and has plenty of indoor and outdoor space. It is a safe environment for children and dogs to enjoy .

Avallon is amazing, beautiful house in it's own ground, On arrival everything is clean, cosy and very welcoming with a vase full of roses and cakes.

Avallon has everything you need for a super comfy stay, lovely beds, great kitchen equipment, just everything is perfect. Super place to discover so much of Cornwall.

We give Avallon 10/10 had a lovely stay at property this was our second visit in 2022 !

Although weather was not on our side that did not spoil our time there ! Its a real home from home ! On a negative and this has nothing to do with property itself there are many dog owners staying at property and clearly breaking all the rules ! There is sign at bottom of stairs stipulating no animals beyond this point well you dog owners are allowing your dogs upstairs we could smell them in bedrooms quite overpowering ! But then rules are made to be broken and your breaking them all also allowing dogs to chew corner of table in living room and dog faeces on driveway at back of property and by the washing line ! Despicable acts if it were my property you would be charged ! We feel sorry for the owner who has such a lovely property ! Thankyou Elizabeth for allowing us to stay in such a lovely property steeped in history ! We will be back Steve / Derricke

Amazing location but needs some TLC Photos on the listing are clearly old ones as the property does not look so well kept and inviting.

It’s a shame as it could be amazing. Broken and overgrown benches, no barbecue as detailed in the listing, mismatched and strewn outdoor furniture, broken fences and gates that don’t close, as outdoor people it was a shame not to be able to have a bbq/fire as advertised, would cost less than a weeks rental income and an hour to replace furniture to resolve some of these issues so definitely should have been resolved when they broke (obviously a while ago!). Although there are 3 bedrooms the livingroom and kitchen would not comfortably house 6 adults. That aside we were 2 adults with dogs so was ok for us. Check in is very late at 17.00 with check out at 09.00. so a whole day where the property is unavailable, this makes it difficult to enjoy your final day as you have to be up and out with all belongings by 9am! Location however is perfect, an amazing base enabling you to fully explore the south of Cornwall. From lands end to st. Ives and all the places in between we thoroughly enjoyed being out and about and have enjoyed Cornwall in all its glory come rain or shine!

Everything you needed plus more was catered for. Very spacious cottage hidden away with local amenities nearby. Our three dogs really enjoyed exploring the grounds and nearby beaches. Our stay at Avallon was very easy going and relaxing - just what we need. We've booked our return for 2023 and are counting down already

If you have dogs you will love Avallon , if you don’t have dogs you will still love the place.

It’s a perfect base to explore all the hidden gems of Cornwall. I Love it , I want to buy it. Message to owners , if you ever consider selling please contact me.

What an amazing property.

Just what the soul needed. Sitting outside with the fire going, the stream burbling in the background and the milky way in all her beauty above. Would highly recommend to anyone.

The cottage itself was clean and tidy, my big disappointment was the 7 acres of land!

!! it was like a jungle, not very happy about this at all, the 7 acres of land was the reason i booked it so we could walk and play with our three dogs, instead we had to drive out some where twice a day. The photos show the grass cut down so very misleading and quite frankly if i knew this i wouldn't have booked it so feel like we have been mislead and quite frankly the photos that were taken must be very old because the land and out buildings do not look anything like the photo's. Considering we are in the middle of the summer this was not acceptable. The grass/weeds were way to tall to walk through. No Tap or Hose to clean dogs down which i find amazing especially if you stay here when it's wet or winter time!! I called Sykes Cottages before my arrival date and asked if it would be ok to take our paddling pool for the dogs as this week was going to be hot, they told me i could but asked if i could move it around as the grass underneath might die off, without a hose i'm not sure how they expect this to happen, we had to use random buckets that we found around the property and fill them up from the kitchen. The land surrounding the Cottage is very unkept. We were also told there was a BBQ we could use, there was still white charcoal and food in there from how ever long ago, it was rusty and looked like it had just fallen off the back of Rag N Bone Mans lorry. Sorry to be harsh but this very true, again very misleading as this was unusable. The garden is not secure so if you have dogs that like to explore or have a tendency to run off, then this probably isn't the house for you. The mesh wire that goes around the fence is hanging off so dogs can go straight through the fencing, there is also a bench inside the paddock/meadow, unfortunately you cant sit and admire the views as the weeds are over 4ft tall. The baking trays in the oven still had burnt on bits of food and were quite dirty. Water flow in both showers were dreadful, found it really hard to have a good shower. Also be very careful if you have car that is low to the ground or a sports car, the long drive way is very uneven and we found our car scraped along the ground all the way down. Beds and pillows very comfortable. We did enjoy our stay but we had to change our plans because the info provided is not accurate. Wouldn't stay again.

Great holiday house was very good Our dogs we're ok with it but the wire on garden fence needs tacking back onto posts and the shrubs need a trim so it's easier to open and close the gate but that's it really Dogs loved it

This was our 3rd visit and we stayed for 2 weeks which was lovely.

Always enjoy staying here. Weather was beautiful so we could spend most of our time outside with the dogs enjoying the space and the river!. Next time it would be go when the grass is cut so that we can enjoy the full 7 acres as it has become quite overgrown. Thanks very much for a lovely holiday

We hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad.

Het huis is heel goed bevallen. Prima ruimtes en alles is aanwezig in het huis. Heerlijk geslapen en de dag beginnen met het ontbijt in de serre. Een mooie ruimte die uitkijkt op de tuin. De honden hebben er ook van genoten. De vrije ligging was perfect.

Lovely property quiet comfortable and excellent location brilliant when you have dogs plenty of space

Hade lovely stay apart from we hade no peace had workmen banging front door most days to do work empy slug pit then came back next day then the for day had gas oil delivered and rang front door embarrassed as just got out shower and you don't have any curtains down stairs on front room windows or stairs landing leading from bathroom to bedroom so when you look up if you not coverd embarrassing yet again another Visit this time window cleaner turned up I've booked again can we have some curtains and a tv that is turned in so we can wach normal tv You have a lovely place very clean and comfortable apart from minor details would recommend highly a stay kind regards Derricke Steve Sasha

Super rustic location, good for children and dogs.

Excellent access to all holiday spots. Everywhere needs a bit of TLC though, all the crockery, cutlery and glasses are odds and ends and cupboards storing vacuums etc desperately need sorting out. Had a couple of problems which owner sorted promptly.

The house was everything we expected and more.

It was lovely and warm and so welcoming. The Christmas tree mince pies clotted cream were a lovely touch. The house had everything we needed. And our dogs loved the garden so much.

We love Avallon and the recent improvements make it even better.

We have already booked to go back in 2022

we had a fab time with our pointers but we had to leave early as my husband wasnt very well he suffers from hives.

The property was lovely for our dogs but not for us.

The upstairs bathroom had not been cleaned, the bin contained the last residents rubbish and even a soiled nappy. The settee was so uncomfortable we had to sit on the dining room chairs all evening. Overall we had a good holiday but the property is tired and needs some TLC .

We didn't actually go, hubby ill.

The peace and tranquility of this cottage is "just what the doctor ordered".

Despite the cottage needing a "little loving" we have booked again for next year as it's a perfect base for where we want to go.

Ideal holiday home, private, peaceful & perfect

We had a lovely stay at Avalon , doggy heaven with having 7 acres land for them & a little stream , we found the beds not very comfortable springs sticking out mattresses , sofas in lounge not very comfortable to low on the floor , the tv was to small for size of living room , couldn’t get it on half the time had to use our own Netflix account to watch something .

Location and house lovely.

Dogs loved freedom of fields attached to house. House generally clean , fresh linen and towels etc made to feel welcome and cleaner on call for any issues all good. Mattresses in second room and bunk beds need replacing as very lumpy and not comfortable. Unfortunately it rained a lot our first week and we found it difficult to get things dry. We are use to throwing things in tumble dryer back home so disappointed one not available at cottage. As in cottage a lot more than expected sat on sofas more and found them very uncomfortable also. Obviously if weather better we wouldn’t of noticed these things as out more. Overall good valve for money and we had a great holiday.

What can I say, we absolutely loved our stay at Avallon.

The garden and grounds were perfect for us and 4 dogs as it was lovely to explore and to wander through the fields to the stream which the dogs loved in this warm weather. Spent much of the time outside or in the conservatory completely private and secluded. The cottage is well placed to pop into Newlyn or Penzance or to explore the coast . Fantastic time thank you we will be booking for next year.

Avillon the house, the grounds are wonderful.

Everything you could wish for was there, even new bibs, spoons and dishes for our granddaughter had been provided. The owner had thought of everything. A great place for a family holiday we all loved it. Will hopefully be back soon.

Avallon is Ideal for dogs, with plenty of space for them to roam.

. It is spacious and comfortable, Upstairs the bedrooms and bathroom are lovely.

It was a very peaceful location and ideal for our two dogs.

This property was advertised with an enclosed garden front and back it doesn’t have this.

It is partially fenced and has a hedge at the rear. Lots of holes in the hedge and fence. When we book a holiday we always have to have an enclosed garden for our dogs as they are Basset Hounds. Our holiday was ruined by having to keep the dogs on leads all the time. If we had not travelled so far we would have come home. looking back at other people’s reviews I have read that another person over a year ago reported this. I think after spending a lot of money on this holiday it very unfair to advertise amenities that the property dose not have.

The cottage is a great place to take dogs as they can roam about the grounds off lead.

It is also a peaceful relaxing place to go if you want to get away from it all.

Such a tranquil setting for this homely cottage loves it so much that I have booked it again for next year now that speaks for itself !

I you want a tranquil retreat in Cornwall surrounded by trees where the dawn chorus is amazing, bats to view at night and in the early hours, lots of fields and garden even a small river for your dogs to enjoy and you to listen to the babbling sounds, a lovely stone house, a huge conservatory with large dining table to sit it and enjoy your evening meal, beautiful lounge with perfect tv reception and comfy sofas to relax after a day of busy sightseeing, kitchen with all the equipment you need to prepare your meals, well sized bedrooms with large beds (even the bunk beds !

) beautiful quality bed linen to get a great nights sleep, bathrooms are just right, the showers are not power ones but do you really want them when on holiday ? the house also smelt and looked fresh and clean, garden a lovely natural look with garden furniture, so sum up if you want a perfect holiday to chill, happy dogs and children, sea and beaches a short drive away, amazing fresh food this is the place for you. ! Well put it this way we had been in a day and booked again for next year !

Hello, we found the cottage warm and cosy, but had trouble with the two showers.

The shower over the bath had a feeble flow of water. The other shower downstairs was impossible to select the water that wasn't too hot to use, tried adjusting the temperature dial, but could not achieve a cool enough temperature to use. The biggest disappointment was that the garden described a ENCLOSED was not enclosed securely to allow dogs to be allowed access without supervision, it was too easy for the dogs to get into the two paddocks and then off anywhere.

Had a lovely week at Avallon, the grounds are so peaceful and spacious and the dog and children loved exploring.

The house was incredibly comfortable and relaxing, we could easily have spent all our time there, but enjoyed a few days out locally. All in all a great cottage and highly recommend it and will look to rebook for the future.

It was lovely to see the improvements new furniture, new flooring , new boiler and the improved WiFi all a bonus to a fabulous holiday.

The cottage continues to be doggie friendly close to amenities and not too secluded will be booking for next year .thank you

My husband and I have crazy busy lives so going to Avallon once a year keeps us sane.

The cottage is clean,warm and away from the world ( which we love ) We have 3 GSD's who love it as much as we do ... The land the cottage sits in is perfect for dogs and people alike. The only problem was lack of dog-friendly beaches.

Beautiful location in 7 acres of private surroundings.

Lovely property with plenty of room and well equipped. The moment you drive into the long drive and then see the cottage below you feel very special. Easy access to A30 and close to Lands end, Sennen cove, Porthcurno, Penzance and Marazion a superb coastal location. And our 3 Jack russells were well catered for with very dog friendly pubs and cafes nearby. Superb!

Avallon was just perfect for my husband and I and our 3 German shepherds.

The cottage was clean, comfy and had everything we could need .. we arrived to flowers and gorgeous cookies .. the place was lovely and warm and very inviting.. and the land that went with it made our holiday

Avalon is everything you would wish for
