The garden was very small compared to the photos. There was also a lack of information about the property which you normally get when staying. It would have been nice to have a local guide for places to visit and pubs recommended by the hosts and other guests.
The listing also said there would be dog towels and bowls, which there weren’t. There was a washing machine and dryer in an outbuilding, but no drying rack was supplied in the property.

The beds were comfortable, but they had a plastic cover underneath which made them very hot, not helped by the beautiful weather we had during our stay, but I am not complaining! The kitchen was well equipped.
The bathrooms need some TLC. The extractor didn’t work and the skylight was too high to open. This is causing some mould and a damp smell. The water pressure is also very temperamental.
The location is wonderful with a beautiful view over St Austell. It was a perfect location to explore the Clay Trails, but the flies were a nightmare, so make sure you take insect repellent if going during the summer.
The cream tea on arrival was a lovely gesture. With a little more TLC and some finishing touches, this would be an excellent cottage. I would suggest a guest book too so that others can get some inspiration for things to do in the local area.
