Daniel “Peaceful Stay in a Lovely Cottage Setting We stayed in this 2-bedroom cottage and found it to be a really relaxing and peaceful retreat.”
Like any place, it has its pros and cons, but the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. Pros: Perfect Location: Very quiet and secluded – ideal for unwinding. Just be aware that the roads leading to the cottage are quite narrow, which can be a bit tricky. Good Base for Exploring: About a 1.5-hour drive to Land's End, which we visited, and only 25 minutes to Looe – a beautiful fishing village we highly recommend. Close to Local Amenities: The nearest pub and shop are just 1.5 miles away. Family-Friendly Features: There's a games room with a pool table and darts – great for both small and big kids! Outdoor Space: The private front area is perfect for picnics or a BBQ. Excellent Host: Very helpful and proactive, even emailed us local walk recommendations before our stay. Cons: Minor Maintenance Issues: The toilet door didn't close or lock properly, and the front door was hard to shut without lifting it to lock. Spiders: Lots of spider webs – not really the owner's fault as they kept returning, but bring spray if you're not a fan. Shower Limitations: The shower is quite small – fine for a quick hair wash, but not suitable for a full adult shower. Baths only. Overall: We loved the cottage – it’s charming and peaceful, though it could use a bit of TLC in places. In our personal opinion, it may not be ideal for families with small children, as the two bedrooms are on opposite ends of the cottage with the front door in between. That said, it’s perfect for couples looking for a quiet getaway or as a base for exploring the surrounding area.

St Neot 1 miles.
This cosy, quirky 300-year old detached cottage is a converted blacksmith's workshop set in the six cottage hamlet of Treverbyn, close to the village of St Neot on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor.
Perfectly situated for walkers and, being so centrally located, ideal for touring all of Cornwall.
You will sense the relaxing feeling that exudes throughout with old beams, stone walls, and original features the moment you enter.
Through the small kitchen enter the splendid living room with spacious sitting and dining areas and woodburner, to keep the cosy feel throughout.
Next to the living room is the master double bedroom, with the original blacksmith's bench acting as a window seat, and the twin bedroom with antique-styled bed frames is on the first floor.
Directly opposite this delightful cottage is a small field for your use and for exercising dogs, together with seating and a barbecue, an idyllic spot for enjoying a relaxing drink after a day’s walking in this beautiful moorland location.
Free range eggs are available from the farm opposite, ideal for breakfast and setting you up for the day ahead.
One walk recommended right from the door is the Two Valleys walk along quiet footpaths, enjoying pretty riverside scenery with plenty of wildlife and great picnic spots.
This walk also takes you through the beautiful village of St Neot, and gives you the opportunity to sample well-deserved refreshment at the London Inn, a traditional whitewashed pub with dining room and a beer garden.
When here, make sure you take time to look next door at the wonderful historic ornate granite church and the holy well, which is a short walk away.
Also close by, and well worth a visit, is the National Nature Reserve of the Golitha Falls and also Cardinham Woods, perfect for both cycling and walking.
A great location for a holiday at any time of year, well off the beaten track, but located in the centre of Cornwall, making everywhere in the county easily accessible.
About the location
ST NEOT
Dobwalls 3 miles; Liskeard 6.5 miles; Bodmin 9 miles.
St Neot is one of Bodmin Moor’s prettiest villages and nestles in the sheltered St Neot river valley on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor in south east Cornwall, enjoying the mild Cornish climate and an outstanding community spirit. The village has a pub, shop and the Door Step Green, a garden created by villagers and a wonderful peaceful place to relax near the church, made famous by its medieval stained glass windows and the Holy Well nearby. Just south of the village are the Carnglaze Caverns, the result of slate quarrying and mining in the 18th and 19th century and now a fabulous tourist attraction open all year round and with three gigantic caverns with stunning subterranean lake in 6.5 acres of woodlands with fairy glen and picnic areas. There are some outstanding and varied walks in the area, including the “Two Valleys Walk” which follows part of the Fowey River, followed by farmland, open moors and forest, and a walk to the spectacular Golitha Falls is also a must. Many archaeological remains have been found on Bodmin Moor and the well known Jamaica Inn and the magic of Dozmary Pool, where King Arthur's sword Excalibur lies, are all within easy reach of St Neot. The north and south Cornish coasts can be reached in half an hour, where practically all forms of watersports and beach activities can be enjoyed. Other places of interest are Siblyback Lake, just 2 miles away and Colliford Lake, 5 miles away. Siblyback Lake is an ideal location for sailing, windsurfing and canoeing or take to Colliford Lake for a relaxing day fishing.
