“Unfortunately, not a particularly welcoming welcome.”
...
We arrived a day late due to work commitments, and not until late that evening after quite a long drive.
At the property we found only tea bags and sugar. There was no milk, no welcome 'pack' or products of any kind. A drink after a long drive for guests would be a nice thought, and something we have always been kindly provided with on arrival at previous properties.
Also, there was no soap at any of the sinks in order to wash your hands, even in the bathrooms, so we had to use, washing up liquid (a small amount was left in a bottle by the kitchen sink)
We were staying at the property for 3 weeks and I would have liked to wipe round, keep things clean, but there were no cleaning solutions, just empty bottles of solutions dotted about. (there was a hoover, brushes etc)
Therefore everything that I have mentioned previously that we did not have, we went out and bought. Not in Paul or Mousehole, as there are just not the shops available, we had to travel into Penzance to do this.
To be fair, we were asked once, after about a week if everything was okay, I replied, that it is now thank you. The owner just smiled and left....
When leaving we had the owners, mowing the lawn 15 minutes 'prior' to our exit time (so we had to bring our dog inside), making it more difficult to pack the car with the front door open.
They were strimming the weeds around the car as we were loading up (okay, it 'was' ten minutes 'past' 10am), and checking their watch.
We just felt throughout, as though we were unwelcome, and as I say, we have stayed at many holiday rentals and this is the first time we have felt like this.
The property has everything else that you need.
The owners however, could improve the view from the property, it is their trees that are blocking the views.
Also, the gate to their house is metal and situated right next to the second bedroom, and it makes a good metalic clang every time they close it. This is not helpful to a relaxing 'lie in', should one want it.
It wasn't a dreadful stay, not at all, but we wouldn't go back....
