Chy Lowen

This was our second year staying at Chy Lowen.

It’s a perfect base in beautiful Porthleven and for exploring the Lizard peninsula. The house is modern, relaxed and has everything you need. We came with two teenagers and a dog, and couldn’t fault anything. Thank you!

We had a fabulous stay at Chy Lowen with fabulous views across the harbour.

We would definitely look to stay again here and would heartily recommend it. One critique would be the cleanliness of the outdoor furniture, which had clearly been left out and uncovered all year round and would benefit from a thorough clean and covers purchased. This sadly let the property down.

Great location.

House was relaxing and well laid out with great views. Exactly as described. Only a couple of minor niggles. 1. Underfloor heating in main bedroom doesn't work. 2. The sink in the shower room is far to small (i appreciate space is at a premium) almost impossible to shave or clean your teeth without getting water everywhere. We would recommend the property to family and friends.

I was born and grew up in Porthleven and knew this property would have a fantastic view so my sister in law and I booked it for 7 nights to stay in January 2026.

The property met all our expectations and hopes. Very clean. Warm. Everything we needed was there. We ate breakfast and supper there every night but ate lunch out in one of the many good places to eat within short walking distance. We travelled down by train so took buses to Penzance. You can reach Helston, Falmouth, Truro, St Ives etc etc by bus or easy drive to all. We will definitely rebook Chy Lowen. Only issue was with key safe outside entry door. Others had commented in Guest Book that it was hard to open - and it was. One of the release buttons is stuck and we had to really force it to open once combination code entered. Not what you need in dark and when you have had a long journey down! Needs to be fixed or replaced. Other than that, we had no problems at all. Would highly recommend. Beds comfortable. Linen good quality. Kitchen had everything we needed. WiFi excellent. Underfloor heating wonderful. Will miss the view! Bys pan dhughyn!!

Christmas mince pies on arrival were delicious and we found everything we needed for our Christmas week.

Fitted out to an high standard and well kept. Amazing views every morning and local shops and pubs were excellent too. A very comfortable stay with lovely walks from the door, often ending in one of the welcoming pubs on our return.

Great cottage, great location and great view across the harbour and out to sea!

What more can you ask for?? Cottage is lovely and modern with great facilities, nice outdoor space to the rear, comfortable beds and private. We have holidayed in Porthleven for years and this is one of the best properties we have stayed in. If i am being really picky, then an outside tap would be great so there is somewhere to rinse wetsuits and sand from beach days. My family really enjoyed our week here and will certainly be looking to come back.

Chy Lowen is a beautiful cottage with the best views of Porthleven.

Its location made everywhere easy to get to. Well equipped and to a very high standard; it was just perfect for a week with two teens and a pooch.

We had a wonderful stay at Chy Lowen.

The house was extremely clean, the beds were comfortable, the shower was warm and spacious, and the kitchen was well equipped. We had no problems finding the property and, other than experiencing a sticky lock on the front door, had no other facilities emergencies. We could have done with a washing line as we were in the sea. We noticed that there were two retractable lines ready to go up but not available just yet - the clothes airer had definitely seen better days. Porthleven is stunning and the view from the window of Chy Lowen is beautiful. Better than the pictures. This was a last minute booking. We received confirmation and key-safe instructions swiftly from Sykes. The only information we struggled to locate was rubbish disposal: the bags provided gave us most of the info but we couldn’t recycle food waste although food waste was collected by the council. Chy Lowen is a wonderful place to stay. We’d definitely recommend it to friends.

What a fabulous location.

The cottage has obviously been renovated recently, to a high standard. Lovely light and welcoming upper floor with comfortable seating and stunning views. Short walk to restaurants and bars in the bustling harbour. Parking on street outside was easy. My only caveat being, that anyone with mobility issues might struggle with location and steps to cottage. Overall, a most enjoyable stay.

Beautiful location (and views) for making the most of Porthleven itself (lovely coffee shops/eateries/pubs) and for exploring that part of Cornwall. Lizard, Mousehole, Porthcurno and the St Ives/Godrevy areas all accessible. Lovely walks from Porthleven too, especially Looe Bar. The cottage is bright and airy and is well-equipped to a high standard. Everything is clean and well-maintained. Our one niggle was only 4 mugs which was frustrating for us tea lovers, as was the lack of teapot (call me old-fashioned!?!).. It is a great property and we will doubtless return again. We love Porthleven (our 5th visit) and this is the best property we have had by far.

Beautifully done cottage.

Perfect location. However, hot water luke warm at best. Thank goodness they had an electric shower! Also the bathroom fan doesn’t work. If these had been working correctly, I would have given a 5 star for facilities and maintenance too.

So lovely to stay in such a clean cosy environment. Everything we needed was catered for and the instructions for all the appliances were kept in a folder in case we needed it. A lovely touch was the hamper of goodies and flowers waiting for us when we arrived. A great, caring touch. Location of this property is amazing, overlooking the harbour and ship Inn

We had a lovely stay is Porthleven in this great property, home now and missing looking out the window to the beautiful view of the port, hopefully we will return soon!

This cottage was lovely and generally very well presentred.

We loved the location and the supurb sea views. There was ample space for 2 adults, 1 child and a dog and the accomodation was beautifully presented and clean. The only issue we did have was a sporadic knocking noise which came from the fuse cupboard in the main bedroom. This was throughout the night and did keep us awake for the first couple of nights. Also, the toilet roll holder was very loose. This are both minor points though and the we were both generally very impressed with the cottage and would happily stay there again.

Fabulous location overlooking the harbour.

We needed a relaxing holiday, and spent a lot of time sitting and looking at the constantly-changing view of the sea and the sky. We were there in April, and were very lucky with the weather, so did a lot of walking on the coast paths. A very comfortable property for summer or winter. Our only issue was the Quooker water tap. We had never seen one before, and phoned the office asking why there was no kettle ! It takes some getting used to, so not ideal when you're only visiting for a few days. But we managed, and would definitely go back again

The property is wonderful, exactly as listed, it really couldn't be any better.

Our only issue was with Sykes administrative team and an error that happened when booking the place, that said after a couple of phone calls the problem was sorted.

We are so pleased that we chose to stay here for our week away!

Not only is Porthleven a beautiful little port town, Chy Lowen was the perfect choice. It boasted amazing views with a comfortable but modern interior, you can really tell that thought has gone into the decor of the house and it has been finished to high standards. Parking was on the road but we always managed to find a spot. My only (very minor) critique is that there was only one toilet roll provided. We would 100% stay here again.

Beautifully appointed and fresh and clean

A beautiful little gem of a property to stay in Porthleven, Cornwall, with stunning views across the harbour.

Ideal location to use as a base to explore, with a must visit to the Twisted Currant, especially for their cream teas and The Deli, especially for their pizzas. Exceptionally clean, very warm, with underfloor heating and preset heating. Would have been nice to have had some instructions to be able to adjust the temperature as it did feel slightly chilly on occasions. Also, no instruction to utilise the Quooker, however didn't prove to be too much of a problem. Wonderfully comfortable bed and beautiful bedding in the main bedroom and some super decorative touches. Settees in the living room were not designed to spend too long a period of time on as felt a little hard on the back. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
