The Old Forge

We have rented properties for the past 10 years both here in the UK and abroad and this must have one of the very best views ever from the living room through the patio doors also this is one of the very best stocked places we have ever rented.

It’s full of crockery and glasses and kitchen cookware it even has a large air fryer and a slow cooker. The bedrooms are spacious and we found the beds comfy and you have a walk-in shower which even though being electric is still very powerful. The road to the property is quite narrow but has a number of passing places and once you’ve driven up and down a few times you feel more comfortable and thankfully it’s only a short road. There is another one but we found the longer of the 2 to be better to drive up and down. Being near the road there is a bit of road noise but it’s a country lane not a main road. We found the owners very quick to respond to any Qs we had. The property is well situated for Looe around 15 minutes and Plymouth around 30 this is the reason we chose it for it’s position. The Rod and Line pub that serves food is only eight minutes away and serves food till around 9 pm, I think, so we went there a number of times. Obviously, we would have no hesitation in going back to this lovely place and this area which we cannot say for other places we have been to. Steve and Sandra

A beautiful home from home with everything we could possibly need. A perfect comfortable home to come back to after our daily adventures. A lovely big garden making time in with our Dog easy and enjoyable too.

Lovely house situated in picturesque location with sweeping views over countryside.

3 bedrooms, one en-suite, separate toilet/bathroom, decent sized kitchen and front room. Parking for 2 to 3 vehicles

Fantastic Property, well presented, Kitchen was superb with plenty of Crockery and Utensil items.

The Barbecue and George Forman Grill was well used in the perfect weather conditions. The faulty shower was repaired instantly, reported to Sykes and the local Housekeeper was there immediately. Location (In Bethany) was quiet and peaceful, with easy access to beaches shops and Public Houses. We will be returning to this Property.

Excellent bungalow, very comfy and well equipped.

Garden is big and dog friendly. My only slight gripe, bring your own towels, the ones provided, not big enough.

This was a brilliant property - lovely Christmas decorations, well stocked kitchen and everything we needed for a long weekend away with our kids.

Very comfortable property, well laid out and lovely views from the living room and garden back towards Devon and Dartmoor.

Well appointed kitchen with everything we needed (except a tea cosy but improvised with tea towels). Nearness of A38 meant getting round Cornwall for days out was a doddle. Daughter-in-law is coeliac so the nearby Brightside Cafe with its extensive gluten free menu was a real bonus. Only disappointment was the lack of a welcome pack. Wasn't actually expecting one but previous entries in the visitors' book said how good it was, particularly the fresh scones.

Lovely cottage with beautiful views from the lounge & garden.

A great location for exploring both the north & southeast of Cornwall. The cottage was super clean & had everything you could need for a great stay. Huge sofas with throws, comfy beds, smart TV , games & enough room to sit & eat in the kitchen & a coffee table in the lounge big enough for games too! it was spacious but cosy!! The kitchen was particularly well equipped, the best I think we have ever stayed in. ( lots of crockery, cutlery even a slow cooker & airfryer!) If we had any complaints/suggestions to make it even better it would be some hooks on the back of the bedroom/bathroom doors for hanging a bathrobe etc & the lack of drawer space in the bedrooms (the locked wardrobe & blanket box in the main bedroom) meant we lived out of our suitcase for the week but this definitely didn’t spoil our stay & we would love to come back & would definitely recommend The Old Forge. Great place to bring your furry friend too!

Very comfortable bungalow very clean and well equipped If I have one comment plumbing is very noisy when toilet is flushed but would not stop us returning

2nd year in a row staying.

We looked at so many other properties but nothing compared and we didn’t regret coming back. A comfortable property, a home from home and a great base for exploring Cornwall. No doubt that we will be back, can’t wait

The welcome pack was a very pleasant surprise. The property was very clean and well equipped. Our dog had such a lovely time exploring the garden and the views are fabulous. It is in a very good location with easy access to all areas across Cornwall. Thank you for providing the perfect home for a really wonderful holiday. We will definitely be back.

We spent a lovely week in June staying at The Old Forge.

The property is immaculate, very well furnished and very comfortable. The large enclosed garden was greatly appreciated by our dog. The views towards Dartmoor were stunning. The location was ideal and allowed for easy access to all the main places of interest in this part of Cornwall. Highly recommended.

We had a fabulous holiday in your lovely home.

Lovely bungalow.

Very practical and spotlessly clean. Large garden for the dogs. Very well equipped and cosy. Owner left lovely Christmas goodies and decorations. Would definitely stay again. Very close to Seaton and Looe.

the house was absolutely perfect and we had no reason to contaxt the owner.

only points i would deduct was the company sykes them selfs . to speak to a human is impossible! and messages on whatsapp don’t get replied to in any depth or any useful information. luckily the house was perfect

A fabulous place to stay.

Homely and bright, extremely clean and comfortable, plenty of room. Spacious bedrooms. The wet room with walk-in shower was ideal for my Grandad who stayed with us. There was a vase of fresh flowers in the hallway when we arrived; a lovely touch. We were very impressed with the equipment provided, everything you could need for an excellent stay. Our kids enjoyed the large garden and it’s so peaceful and quiet with beautiful countryside views. In the evening we saw deer in the field by the garden. We had a couple of BBQ’s with absolutely delicious meat from the butchers Paul Bray & Son which is just a 5 minute drive. Trerulefoot is a great base for exploring the area, Looe is a short drive away. We visited beautiful beaches in Looe, Talland Bay (amazing rock pools) and Polkerris. The best family day out we had was at Pennywell Farm. It was so much fun, not to be missed! Make sure you get there for opening as the activities start at 9:30am. We enjoyed our holiday so much, we couldn't have wished for anything better! I would definitely recommend The Old Forge to anyone and we hope to come back! Thank you.

We had a lovely few days here, very quiet, beautiful location, close to beaches and Plymouth, lovely views, clean and comfortable accommodation.

It was comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated. It was a joy to come back to after a day of activities. The garden was perfect for our dog, Wyn.

Wow the old forge blew us away, it’s perfect.

It had everything we could possibly need and the location was beautiful. Spacious rooms with a light and bright lounge offering stunning views over open fields. Great location for exploring Cornwall. Dog friendly although our EBT managed to jump the front wall. Would suggest a heated towel rail or radiator in the en suite shower room would be nice. We absolutely loved our stay and were sad to leave. Would we stay again. Yes yes yes x

So well equipped, beautiful views and so peaceful idyllic.

It's a great bungalow in a superb position that gives easy access to a large area of both Cornwall and Devon.

Very comfortable and welle quipped with a wonderful garden and great views; although we only live around 30 miles away it gave us access to the Tamar valley which wasn't a corner of our county that we had visited before.

Lovely, spacious, well equipped cottage in very quiet location with great views.

Good central location. Has great potential for spring and summer months with large outdoor area and a lot of birdlife around. Front bedroom seemed colder than rest of the house although we didn't need to use it. Would have been nice to have porch light on when we arrived in darkness. Having two bathrooms was a bonus. Really enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful property which is very well equipped!

We stayed here while visiting family. It was quiet, lovely views and felt so homely. The only thing I would suggest is to dog proof the gate better, install garden lights because at night it is completely pitch black and possibly a bigger TV for the lounge as the lounge is large. We will defiantly be returning ☺️

Fantastic cottage, had everything you needed and more.

Clean and comfortable. Very good size both in and outside. Private. Great views from the front room. Would highly recommend to anyone. It is situated close to Liskeard for the shops, there is a shell petrol station 2mins away. We could quite happily live there. The only recommendation I would make to the owner is to make the small fence by the gate and the gate it self a little more secure. Maybe a bit of chicken wire or extra planks, because our little dog got out. Would definitely book again. Our family loved it.

Enjoyed our stay.

Modern, clean and spacious holiday cottage. Private, secure and large garden with great view. Excellent Broadband speeds and reliability. Only minor gripe was that we couldn’t locate anything for recycling eg containers etc. only option was to use black bin bags.
