The property

5 Esplanade is a wonderfully characterful and inviting home nestled in an elevated position with far-reaching views across the stunning Fowey Estuary.

Perfect for those seeking a quaint retreat in one of Cornwall’s most picturesque harbour towns, this delightful property offers a warm and welcoming base for families and friends alike.

At the heart of the home lies a kitchen/diner, where slate flooring and rustic European styling create a homely, continental atmosphere.

Fully equipped for all your cooking needs, it’s an ideal space to come together over shared meals and conversation.

A separate utility room with a washing machine adds extra convenience for longer stays.

On the lower ground floor, you’ll find a serene super-king-size bedroom (which can be arranged as a twin), complete with its own en-suite shower room and a private balcony offering glimpses of the estuary, a quaint spot to enjoy the morning light or unwind in the evening.

The first-floor sitting room is the real highlight of this home, spacious, comfortable, and perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

With a Smart TV, DVDs, and games, it’s well-equipped for cosy nights in.

Step through the French doors onto the large balcony, where a dining table invites you to dine al fresco while soaking in breathtaking views of the estuary, dotted with boats.

Upstairs, the second floor hosts two further bedrooms — a king-size and a twin— both thoughtfully decorated to reflect the home’s traditional style.

A family bathroom with a bath and overhead shower serves these rooms.

Outside, a sheltered rear patio offers a quiet, private space to relax with a book or a glass of wine, surrounded by the gentle sounds of the sea breeze.

Step out and explore the vibrant town of Fowey, a haven for food lovers with acclaimed restaurants like Sam’s, Havener’s Bar and Grill, and The Old Quay House.

Sample a classic Cornish pasty from a local deli, browse the independent shops, or take to the water with a boating adventure on the estuary.

History buffs will enjoy visits to St Catherine’s Castle and the Fowey Museum, while families can spend sunny days at Readymoney Cove or Polridmouth Beach.

It’s easy to see why literary greats like Daphne Du Maurier and Kenneth Grahame found inspiration in this magical setting.

And with the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan just a short drive away, every day promises new discoveries.

At the end of each adventure, return to the comfort and charm of 5 Esplanade, your home away from home on the Cornish coast.

About the location

FOWEY

Lostwithiel 8 miles; Polperro 8 miles.

This small town and civil parish lies at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall. The estuary of the River Fowey forms a natural harbour, which enabled the town to become an important trading centre. There is a wealth of things to see and do in and around the harbour. Whether you enjoy getting out on the water, playing golf or finding out more about the history of the area, you are sure to find something to suit the whole family. Harbour cruises leave the Town Quay regularly in season giving you a superb view of the town, but for the more adventurous, rent your own self-drive boat, kayak or paddle board and explore the waters for yourselves! The town is steeped in history, so why not join a guided tour of either Fowey or Polruan? You can even join an owl experience, play golf, go horse riding or pursue your artistic talents with pottery or painting courses. There is the aquarium, museum and St Catherine's Castle, as well as Readymoney Cove, all waiting to be explored. If you get peckish, or fancy something thirst quenching along the way, there is a plethora of pubs, inns, cafes and restaurants to choose. Whenever you plan to visit, keep a look out for the festivals, fairs, markets and theatre performances on throughout the year. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Discover them all from this fantastic base!
