Driftwood

This was our second stay in the wonderful Driftwood (1st online review).

We absolutely love this house, it’s in the perfect location and the view from the cosy living room is so special. The house layout really suits our family (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child and a dog). It is clean, comfortable and well equipped. The addition of the welcome pack was a great surprise - we really enjoyed our cream tea. Fowey is difficult for parking and the hills are steep but this is the same challenge for most houses in this location. We had a brilliant holiday and have already booked to return next year. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Awful carpet in the hall, dreadful access, very poor main bathroom, no welcome pack and abysmal customer service.

Loved our stay in fantastic Fowey.

We loved our choice of accommodation at Driftwood but people need to be aware of a few things. Can feel quite intrusive at the rear of the house with walk way for public directly at rear of home. If staying in rear bedroom you are just below the footpath which is 5/6 steps above, if in upstairs rear bathroom you are at same height as footpath. I feel this is important to know especially for females. Home was cosy and always warm. Plenty of games books and dvds. Kitchen and living room all together creating a close family feeling. Bin situation at the rear needs addressing and organising a little but this is me being super critical. We loved our stay and I would return

The property was ideally located literally 1 minute from the main street.

The only issue I had was with Sykes. I checked before booking that it was ok to leave dogs alone at the cottage for short periods. Apparently it is not. I found this out as the neighbour complained. I explained that I had specifically checked this before booking having received a voicemail threatening me with a termination of my stay. I would say if a property is dog friendly it should be permitted to leave them there for short periods such as going out for an evening meal. If you stop at this property be aware that there are people walking past it all day due to it being on the route from the main car park in Fowey to the centre.. The car park is 5 minutes away and you can purchase a weekly ticket for £26. If you are eating out I can highly recommend Sam's on Fore St, you will need to book but great food and service.

Driftwood is a perfect house to holiday in Fowey, its very clean and comfortable, and had plenty of space for our family of four.

I sat in the window seat for hours, and am ready to go back already!

Second time staying.

Really enjoyed the house again. Especially the beautiful window seat in the lounge. Great location with lots of interesting shops and places to buy food/eat out within easy walking distance. Enough to do in Fowey so you don't need to jump in the car (walk up to main carpark is a work out in itself :-)). Especially the little cove/beach down the Esplanade near the Red Rocket Cafe / Meva-Fowey Ferry. Would definitely come back if we were looking to stay in Fowey again. A few things we don't want to publish but wanted to raise as they may impact peoples feedback. It's a lovely house and deserves to be shown in its best light. Noticed the carpets could probably do with a full on deep clean. Especially in the hall and stairs. Not saying they were dirty but there were a few marks. The door knob (bedroom side) on the on-suite bathroom needs fixing as the screws kept coming loose. The toilet seat in the on-suite bathroom was also loose and needs securing/replacing (this was like this last year). The wall needs repairing the downstairs twin room where it looks like a picture or something fell down

Lovely property with stunning views of the harbour, Place and the town.

The accommodation was generous in size and comfortable. It's worth noting, there are a lot of stairs in the house. The top bedroom in particular is accessed via steep narrow stairs, which were fine for us but wouldn't be for others. Would otherwise, highly recommend the house!

This is the perfect place for our family - lovely house with great views

A lovely old Fowey house, modernised to a high standard, with great views to the river and the castle.

The layout worked extremely well for us, with four adults plus baby. We know Fowey well, so easy access to the many cafes and restaurants, plus the beach at Readymoney Cove, was much appreciated - and knowledge of Fowey’s hills and tight streets helped us plan vehicular access.

We loved the house.

Such a wonderful view from the bay window. Very comfortable and had everything we needed and more. Great location for town and local beaches. Lovely to be able to just to walk to such a great array of shops, restaurants, and pubs. Only thing we wondered was there seemed to be a condensation issue on the walls in the main suite bathroom. Even with door open and fan on. Not sure if the correct paint has been used on the walls. Other than that would definitely recommend to friends and family, and would also return ourselves. If you wish to publish please feel free to remove the paragraph about the condensation/paint as this did not detract from the stay.

We found Driftwood a great place to come back to after a long day exploring the local area.

Clean and had everything we needed… home from home.

We had a super week in this lovely house.

The location is very convenient for the town and the beach at Readymoney. The house is well cared for and was equipped with everything we needed. The layout of the property is well thought out and worked well for us as we could close off the main living area to keep our 18 month old grandson from escaping to the stairs. The window seat was very popular with those amazing views! We will definitely be booking again.

What an amazing place to stay.

We came for a family wedding and the location was fab. The house was clean and had everything we needed.

Beautiful property with a view to die for.

Very peaceful place to stay. Spotlessly clean. Not too far up the hill from shops bars and restaurants which was good because the hills are steep.

A beautiful house which we loved staying in this week, very clean, lots of thoughtful touches and the view was incredible.

This is the 6 th time we have stayed in the house we love it the courtyard at the back could be tidied up a little other than that the house is perfect and hopefully we will be back next year

We had a superb week at Driftwood.

The proximity to the the town and the ability to take long walks from the front door were big pluses for us. The only (small) issues were the access on arrival and departure and the lack of sufficient comfortable seating in the evening. We knew about the access issues but didn’t realise you’d need a high clearance, small car to access the lane, making arrival and departure a litre stressful. There’s really only sofas for 4 people and while the window seat is nice during the day, it isn’t comfortable for a prolonged period in the evening. We had to rotate so that people could take turns in a comfy seat. If we came in the summer, the lack of outdoor seating would be an issue but as we came in the Autumn, this wasn’t a problem. Despite these two minor points, we had an excellent week and would definitely return.

We loved waking up to the view across Fowey and the bay, and being able to wander down into the town for coffee or something to eat.

The house is beautifully decorated and easy to live in. We had a lovely time. Thank you.

The property was in a great location but a few things did impact our stay: 1.

No WIFI. We raised this with the owner and maintenance team but no resolution during our stay. 2. Roadworks right outside the rear of the property. This wasn’t advised prior to our departure and was a bit of a nuisance, especially waking up to a drill in the mornings outside the bedroom 3. The property would benefit from a larger pan for cooking and knives that chop! 4. Better ventilation downstairs- due to lack of privacy in the morning we couldn’t open the doors outside as the bathroom leads directly onto the path (a gate would improve security/privacy) so we found the downstairs bedroom/bathroom got very hot and damp smelling due to showers. A better extractor fan would be good. 5. The bed in the main downstairs room is not very comfortable (can feel springs) On a positive note, the views from the living room window were brilliant and it’s a good location for town/Ready Money beach. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay in Fowey but it’s unlikely we’d stay in Driftwood again.

We absolutely loved the house.

The location, the inside of the house was clean, lovely and tastefully presented. The view was spectacular and spent time sittkng in the window seat. Everything you need for a wonderful stay.
