They said it was very hard. Both shower / bathrooms were not as clean as I expected them to be and smelled musty and mouldy. Mould could be seen on the floor where it meets the edge of the bath and the bathroom flooring is worn and needs renewing. Two curtains in the living room space had a big stain on them. My daughter has stayed at Southern Halt in the past and she said that this particular lodge was disappointing compared to the one they stayed in before. The fridge had a horrible smell coming from it and the light wasn’t working. So all in all not a “luxury lodge” as advertised.

Please note that the ponds and surrounding reed beds form an important natural habitat for local wildlife. During the bird nesting season, typically between March and September, the reeds may appear more established than shown in some website photographs. In line with the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, vegetation management may be restricted during this period to help protect nesting birds and other wildlife. We appreciate your understanding as we work to preserve the natural environment and biodiversity of the site for both wildlife and guests to enjoy.
