Smashing place, beautifully decorated and fully equipped.

Attention to detail in fixtures and fittings superb. Lovely quiet location and lots of walks nearby. Highly recommend.

Couldn’t fault the cottage, it was perfect and had everything we needed.

We were not made aware that it was in such a remote wooded area, with such a narrow lane to access the cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at stocks barn!

Absolutely fabulous.

The location was perfect for peace and quiet and was not far from Looe. I am struggling to add any comments about improving as it was everything we could have wished for and more. John was great and cream tea was provided for our arrival. Don't change anything we will be back.

We just came back after 5 night stay at Stocks Barn.

Just what we wanted, the barn is out in the countryside, just the sound of nature to contend with. The barn is lovely, very clean and all you want in terms of appliances, just a nice place to be. As others have said, the lane to the barn is very narrow, plus if you have a car that has low suspension, you may struggle to get into the property. We, unfortunately had this issue, and were unsure what we were going to do. We met Jon, who was very helpful. We were able to park the car on the lane in a gateway that’s next to the property. Jon cut back some of the vegetation in the gateway so we could get the car in as far as possible. It was off the main carriageway, so there were no issues. Thank you Jon and your family for such a nice welcome, and assistance. I will go to say you all are some of the nicest, accommodating people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I hope you got the little thank you we left in the property for you. Hopefully we will be back soon for another stay at in the barn. Richard, Christine & Samuel

We had a brilliant week at Stock’s Barn.

Although it may be a little remote for some, it was absolutely perfect for us and a great base to explore lovely Cornwall. It was exceptionally clean and the cream tea on arrival was much appreciated. Thank you for having us!

Property was spotless, comfortable and well equipped. The owner Jon was friendly, attentive and always a pleasure to meet. Gifts of a cream tea, prosecco and choccies were a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. Would definitely recommend this property if you want a lovely relaxing stay in Cornwall.

The idyllic setting and garden was a true tonic. John was very pleasant and helpful without being intrusive. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. If you want a quiet break away from hustle and bustle this is the place for you.

My wife and I together with our dog had a lovely stay at Stocks Barn.

The cottage was clean, tidy and very cosy, tucked away down a nice quiet bland. The owner was very friendly and offered some suggestions for places to visit and public houses to eat. All in all a great stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to go back

An absolutely lovely cottage with everything we needed.

Fabulous surroundings and the nicest property owners you could hope for.

This was our fourth visit and already planning on our fifth visit.

Stocks barn is such a lovely cozy barn it has everything you need and more. We always have such a lovely welcoming from the owners, left lovely scones, cream and jam. The owners are such nice people always there for a chat etc., nothing is never a problem for them, they have become our friends not just hosts. We really enjoyed our two week stay and didn't want to come back. If you are looking for a nice cozy cottage don't look anywhere else then stocks barn, you will not regret it that's for sure. Lovely cosy cottage, nicely furnished.

Kitchen well kitted out so we could cook instead of eating out if we wanted. Cream tea in the fridge on arrival! We were only using the main bedroom but just a warning if using the second bedroom. Access is down a steep flight of stairs immediately behind an unmarked door (I thought it was a cupboard).

Unfortunately wi fi was out all week.

The problem was the hub in owners adjacent house but couldn't be fixed as owners were away at a wedding. The barn was clean and comfortable. The TV set was too small for the size of accommation and the sound kept vibrating. Shame about the poor weather would have liked to have explored nearby woods but too wet.

Great stay , Hosts couldn't do enough , great holiday .

Stocks Barn was perfect and everything we needed it to be, with an amazing cream tea left for us upon arrival.

Jon was the perfect host who greeted us warmly and checked in on us to make sure all was fine. He responded really quickly to a question we had and shared his great local knowledge with us. Stocks Barn was so peaceful, where we enjoyed sitting out on the garden with a morning cuppa and relaxing in the garden. The garden was perfect for our pooch as it is enclosed meaning he was able to amble around safely. We were provided with lots of additional, useful items such as tea/coffee, washing tablets for the dishwasher and clothes - there is too much to list here but basically we didn't need to buy anything except food and drink. We wouldn't hesitate to come back to Stocks Barn or to recommend it to our friends and family. It was the perfect place for us during our week in Cornwall and we felt a little sad to leave!

This is a gorgeous cottage.

Good location for sightseeing and afterwards can have a sunbathe on the loungers in the enclosed garden. Jon and Kirsty were very welcoming and friendly, we would definitely stay again.

We were very disappointed with the barn.

It is nothing like it looks in the pictures. It says it sleeps 4 but have to say I wouldn’t want to sleep downstairs with an oil boiler. Not sure if that’s even legal. The barn needs a complete revamp and a lot of the furniture is old, some might say it’s chic, but it needs replacing only three people can sit at the table and that’s a tight fit.

We enjoyed our stay, and the cream tea was nice,there were lots of cobwebs and spiders on arrival, I’m aware we are in the countryside, but there were a lot of cobwebs for a cottage that should have just been cleaned.

There could have been some high ball glasses to use, as both my husband and I like gin and tonic and the glasses we had were only suitable for Baileys etc

Stocks Barn is a beautiful little cottage in a very tranquil little place .

Nothing around you , only bird song and the occasional Moo from the cows in the next field . The cream tea on arrival was very welcome and delicious ! Nearest village Duloe is a 10 minute walk away . It has a small shop and pub , the pub is only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday though . Looe is only a 10 minute drive as is Liskeard if you need the Supermarket . Lovely walks around the cottage . John the owner is a very friendly chap and nothing is to much trouble ! The cottage has everything you'll need , washer dryer , dishwasher washer , iron and ironing board , hair dryer etc etc . Will definitely be returning !

An idyllic country hideaway.

The only thing to hear are the birds singing and the odd cow mooing! Highly recommended

Very comfortable cottage in beautiful surroundings.

This was our 5th visit to the lovely Stocks Barn, and once again met and exceeded our expectations.

Thanks to Jon for the lovely welcome cream tea and for making our stay wonderful. Was nice to see Jon for a catch up. Will be hoping to return Summer 2026. Highly recommended.

Very homely and comfortable cottage.

Facilities good and owner Jon very pleasant and helpful. Bit of a narrow lane down to it though and access into property is tight so large car owners beware! Excellent information guide of places to visit etc inside property.

could do with an outside sensor light on the door as itt is very rural and dark.

The shower rail slider is broken and the bathroom door catches on the tiles but overall a nice quiet stay.

Lovely cottage in an ideal location.

We both enjoyed our day At the cottage having a dog, she enjoyed the garden plenty of room for her to run around watching the birds coming out.

The garden is also great. And made it relaxing and for the owner to leave a cream tea on arrival was amazing definitely would stay again Mark and Carole

Peaceful location

We had a great stay over Christmas at Stocks Barn.

It was a lovely quiet location and a very cosy setting. The Christmas tree and treats that were left for us were a nice touch. The facilities were great, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, lovely big bathroom towels and the place was very clean. The owner who lives next door was also really nice. The only thing to note is the TV is very small and quite far from the sofa, but it wasn’t a major issue for us. We’d definitely stay again!

Cosy Bungalow.

Was wet and cold but with heating was very cosy. Even had a log fire, not needed but a novelty for a couple of nights. Had a question for owner John, he was with us in a flash. We wanted somewhere away from everything included fireworks on New Year, as we have a nervous dog. Did not hear a thing. One thing I would mention. We have a Ford Galaxy. Took a little time getting in and out as a little tight with length of car. Internet was a little hit and miss, but we are a little out of way. But had a Great relaxing stay. The little welcome food a nice touch and the lovely Christmas Tree

A lovely stay in a lovely cottage.

We couldn’t of asked for more! Would definitely be staying again.

If you want peace and tranquility, this is the place to come , out in the countryside with no ambient light the nighttime stars are simply something to behold, and have given me memories that will last forever.

The accommodation is very good, clean , and the log burner in winter must be an absolute necessity. Local wildlife seen include bats, birds galore, deer, with a wonderful waterfeature/garden. Be aware that you have the village of Duloe within, a 15 minute walk, but you have narrow country lanes to consider, but you are in the middle of countryside!!!!!! Would recommend for a very peaceful holiday, away from it all.

Our trip from Hannover (Germany) to Cornwall took us to Stocks Barn.

We spent part of the summer holiday at Stocks Barn in July 2023. Stocks Barn is a place to feel good! The rooms are very clean and tasteful, modernly decorated. Nothing is missing. A quiet place where you can relax. Dogs are welcome and you have direct access to extensive forest paths. Jon the owner is very personable and friendly. We would choose Stocks Barn again and again when we are on holiday in Cornwall.

The cottage was exceptionally nice as was the area.

We were a bit shocked when we first saw the lane (Stocks Lane) that led down to the cottage as extremely narrow.

We found the cottage wonderful and had a very comfortable , relaxing time.

Lovely barn in a rural location, but excellent spot to visit areas around Looe,Polperro, Eden Project and Plymouth.

Well set out barn with all amenities you need. Lovely little garden which can be enclosed to allow dogs off lead without risk if escape. Owner very friendly and accomodating.

Lovely stay as always.

My dog sam is at home as soon as we arrive straight in front of the fire. Couldn't ask for more every thing you need is supplied. Lovely and peaceful. John is a very good host and a good man. Will be back next year. Thanks for your kind words John. Paul and Sam.

A very beautiful converted barn , very well decorated and with everything you will need .

In such a quite location. Will definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at stocks barn, it’s slightly out of the way of the main area but there are rail links and bus links (£5 to ride all day!

) just a short walk away if you don’t want to drive. Jon the host left a really helpful book with lots of recommendations of places to visit and a feedback book from other guests with their recommendations which really helped our time in Cornwall. Also some lovely scones and cream tea! The barn itself is very quaint, cozy and the beds are very comfortable. Some of the areas were a bit dusty but nothing overbearing and were only noticeable to myself as I have allergies. A couple of points for improvement: a light on the entrance to clearly show where the barn is in the dark or fairy lights similar to the house down the road would be really helpful. Also if you have a small dog the garden isn’t secure as there is now a large gap under the gate where the gravel has moved, but Jon clearly stated to check in advance which we did. None of these made our stay any less enjoyable we had a great time and would definitely come back if we’re ever in the area again!

One of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in, very clean, comfortable and well equipped, and with a private and enclosed garden for the four legged friends! When we arrived there was some flowers and a wonderful cream tea to enjoy! Good start to the holiday , thank you! Private and secluded. Good walks for the dog. Jon the owner very friendly but leaves you to get on with your holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Stocks Barn, probably the best place to stay in Cornwall!

We had a wonderful time at Stocks Barn, it was clean and welcoming.

The scenery and gardens were so peaceful and if we didn't have children, I would have spent the whole week in the garden with a book!

A beautiful cottage which added to a lovely holiday.

It had all the home-from-home amenities you could need and we really appreciated the cream tea when we arrived! Jon gave us a quick knock to make sure everything was ok and the folder guide had more than enough information about the local area to add to our trip. The lane the cottage is on is extremely narrow, which we weren't quite expecting (wing mirrors touching both hedges) and our 6 year old wasn't a fan of all our extra country visitors (aka wispy spiders, lol) but otherwise it was a perfect place to stay. Idyllic surroundings and so peaceful. We'd be happy to go back again.

This has got to be the best place to stay in Cornwall!

Stocks Barn was absolutely perfect for us with our dog, Eric. The location is so peaceful and the cottage is so homely and comfortable finished to a high standard. When we opened the door we were greeted with a vase of flowers and a cream tea! There was no need to stop and get milk, tea etc. The property was immaculate. We stayed in March so we used the log burner some evenings instead of the heating to give a more cosy feel. Jon, the owner introduced himself to check we were ok and had everything we want. He is a true gent, who genuinely cares about his guests. We had a great time in Cornwall and after being out all day, we looked forward to coming back here, from the first day we called it home! One evening, when we had been out on a chilly day, rather than go out to eat, we discovered the Chinese takeaway in Looe and they delivered! Really good food as well. We will be returning again and won’t bother to look anywhere else as we honestly believe this is the best place to stay in Cornwall. We could live here permanently. I could go on but you have to stay here here to appreciate how perfect this is. Thank you so much Jon, Pete, Lyn & Eric

We have stayed here four times.

First three very good. Last one not so good bedding not changed for both weeks and not as clean as usual. Bed getting uncomfortable as is furniture. Can't fault the owner John very friendly nice man. My wife and I plus Sam our dog would love to come back but not sure about comfort for two weeks without some changes.

Was absolutely beautiful property and a very friendly host.

Will definitely be back.

Lovely place off the beaten track, so lovely and quiet.

Really well equipped with good heating and log burner so nice and warm even in mid October. The bathroom and kitchen taps, shower cubicle and bathroom sink plug need some attention but these niggles did not detract from the holiday. All in all a great stay.

Stocks barn is a lovely lovely place to be , I have now been here for my 2nd time and will be back much much more , Jon the owner is very accommodating and very very helpful top guy!

What a wonderful break in Cornwall.

Perfect location for all tourist attractions the 2 grandchildren thoroughly loved the house. Everything you needed for the break was available and Jon the owner was great! Would definitely stay again

Beautiful cottage is a lovely quiet location.

Our 4yr old boys love the cabin beds. The property is lovely and warm. We didn't need to use the log burner at all. The double bed is really comfortable, so are the cabin beds. The cream tea left on arrival was a lovely touch. We visited Polperro and Looe which were very close by. Lovely little garden for our Springer to sniff about in and great walks from the property. A lovely little holiday cottage off the beaten track. We hope to return one day.

Absolutely loved our stay at Stocks Barn.

Fantastically located to explore some beautiful parts of Cornwall. Really well equipped and incredibly comfy, we would definitely return - thank you! We will be using Sykes Cottages again too; our second break is booked and we’re already looking into booking again!

The Mattress in the main bedroom was so uncomfortable that the springs dug into our bodies,we had to buy a blow up camping mattress from a local store and slept on the floor for the week which was not ideal as we were really looking forward to a relaxing break,also the washing machine spoilt and stained some of our clothing as well as supplied towels this needs looking at and has been mentioned in previous reviews that we've read about on line.

Stocks Barn is a very comfortable, well equipped and cosy cottage that we took to immediately on arrival!

The welcome pack of a Cornish cream tea was a lovely touch and most welcome after a long journey and, our terrier, Roscoe, really appreciated the dog treats left for him! The location and setting is second to none and in the whole week we were here, only heard one motorcycle and a couple of tractors in the far distance, and, more importantly, we heard country wildlife, from birds during the day to a couple of occasions of foxes calling in the night! Absolutely marvellous! All in all, we were more than a little reluctant to leave and will most definitely return, hopefully in the not too distant future, as one can appreciate that this must be a beautiful place to stay even during the winter months!

Great location to explore and dog friendly.

There is a separate area of garden (seen in the photos) adjacent to the cottage where there is a lovey seating area and water feature. The owners gates and the front entrance gates secure the area for dogs. The area directly outside of the front door is also the cottages garden and is secured by the gates - a tiny dog / jumper would escape here, otherwise very secure. The cottage is reached via a single track road....our pre-ordered supermarket delivery made it down there despite how narrow it looks. Very peaceful location. The owner lives in the house next door, sadly never met him but when we had some issues with the washing machine he was very accommodating/came back to us asap. The main bedroom did smell slightly of damp but I guess this is due to it being a converted /old cottage/barn...maybe a dehumidifier would be a good idea. Kitchen well equipped and there is a freezer compartment in the fridge which is handy but not mentioned in the description. Overall (and despite the weather!) We had a lovely time. The cottage could do with some minor improvements (various light bulbs not working and gate needed some tlc) but these are minor. Very clean and tidy on arrival. Thanks for a lovely stay.

This was a great holiday house.

The owner was super friendly. Perfect place to Explorer the Cornish coast. The little garden at the side of the cottage was totally amazing and a great place to sit on an evening and take in the wonderful views.

A beautiful, well equipped, comfortable and clean rural retreat.

Unlike other places we have visited, Stocks Barn has everything you need for a home away from home stay. WiFi is excellent, kitchen is more than well equipped, good free view television reception, spacious shower room and a scrumptious Cornish cream tea greeted us on our arrival.

Our holiday was absolutely fabulous - the cottage was everything we could have wished for and what fabulous weather!

The location of the cottage is perfect for all those interesting places to visit and a local pub with great food.

Such a great place to stay as a family will most likely be booking up for next year had a great time and some very nice touches made by the owners

Stocks barn is a gorgeous little place.

Just far enough off the beaten track to have no traffic (at all) but situated close enough to loads of great venues for your holiday (eg Eden project, Heligan, Looe). Warm welcome from the owners and useful guide left in the barn for local trips etc. Can't fault it we loved the place. Sykes were flexible with our decision not to take the dog and didn't charge for this, although the barn was very dog friendly, with treats being left for them and a secure garden. A*

Cottage was fabulous & perfect bolt hole to see family a short distance away but would advise people that it is not easily accessible in a camper van due to extreme narrow road (we live in the back of beyond but the road was even narrow for us).

The extras on arrival were thoroughly appreciated. Beautiful surroundings. Just to inform you that the washing machine at time of our visit did not work properly & has seriously damaged some of the baby clothing resulting in being thrown away (photograph available if required).
