Albert House

We loved our time at Albert house and would be more than happy to stay again.

Overall a really fabulous property; clean and spacious with lovely views from the bedrooms.

The smoke alarm went off about 6 times whilst we were there. I think, due to the fact that the house had been split and the 2nd property was setting it off! I don't know whether it is the owners in the other property but the wall between the twin and their bedroom is like paper. Whoever was in there was extremely noisy on the Saturday night until after 2am and it was impossible to sleep. The wall definitely needs soundproofing. There was no way to easily contact the owners and, because of this, I would be unlikely to book with Sykes cottages again.

A very clean and well appointed property that I would not hesitate to book again in the future.

I've rented properties in the past that had had less than the bare minimum of kitchen equipment - no such problems here. There were even tea bags (normal & Earl Grey) in the cupboard. It's nice to see an abundance of plug sockets near the beds. Something that really isn't overly common. Stating a more specific location for the car parking space would be good though as it's not entirely obvious if you're looking for the space on Google Maps before you arrive. If anyone else is wondering, it's the first space on the left up Lowenna Gardens.

Albert house is a great place to stay just a couple of things that could be a little better.

The place is very clean in most parts, however, some parts of the floors could be cleaned better, such as in the corners of the bedrooms - I put my rucksack down in the corner of the first floor bedroom by the two windows, and it was caked in dust as the floor hadn't been cleaned. More than one toilet roll should be provided if there are more than 4 people staying in the property for 5 days. Central heating - when we stayed it was quite chilly, but there were no instructions on how to work the central heating, some radiators came on at random times during the day (and at night in the bedrooms, when it is not needed) so instructions on how to use it would be useful. However, overall we had a really good stay.

Beautiful property which has been well renovated.

Great location. A few minor issues/suggestions - dust and hair on floors, used cotton bud found in one bedroom. Bedrooms could benefit from bins and mirrors. Main issue for us was that we are unable to control the heating - unable to dry towels. I did contact the owner and heating was then on but guests have no control over it. We had a cold evening and unable to access any heating.

The property is in a lovely position.

There is a small patio area outside the front door. Although listed pet friendly there is no gate on the patio therefore unable to let the dog out without a lead. Although seating for 8 people is provided on the patio 8 adults and 2 dogs would be very uncomfortable. The kitchen would benefit from a better fridge. The fridge is an under counter fridge with an ice box which is inadequate for 8 people. The oven is a lovely SMEG range cooker but unable to store enough food to take advantage of it. Furnishings and beds were very comfortable. Bathrooms lovely one on first floor and one on second floor

Located very close to the village shops, beach and other amenities this property overlooking the river provides outstanding views from all rooms.

The property is a tidy well maintained town house and we had a. very comfortable time. Our host Steve was very helpful when contacted with some requests. I would highly recommend staying at the Albert house.

We were lucky enough to meet one of the owners who have worked hard on the renovation of this well appointed three storey house with views over the River from the Sunny patio, kitchen/diner and all bedrooms.

Off road parking for one car being a bonus. Just a short walk alongside the river brings you into the main town of Looe, you are spoilt for choice on Cafes/Restaurants here. We enjoyed our stay and intend coming again, if the owners act on our few constructive comments given to them it will by an Idyllic place to return to.
