Moon cottage was a lovely comfortable and very clean place to stay in a sleepy relaxing little village which had a great warm and friendly pub on the waters edge.
Sat on the top of the hill gives you great views over the estuary and the outside roof terrace was a lovely little sun trap. We are a party of five and a pooch and it accommodated us perfectly. The whole house is very funky from the wrap around table at the top of the stairs to the outside shower. Settling down for movie nights are great with the projector and screen, The cycling was great even if you did have to climb quite the hill to gain access to many cycle routes and bridleways. Supermarkets deliver to Golant so you don't have to waste your holiday time in store. The saints way can take you on a walk to Fowey which is a good walk but worth it for the ice cream reward and the end. Parking at the property was good with a space to fit an Smax easily around the back. Moons is a short drive from lots of places to visit and an excellent base for you to return to and relax after a busy day exploring. The owners were on hand for any enquiries that you should have during your stay. The welcome gifts for the kids and the dog were a really lovely touch and the lemon cake was delicious. Can't recommend Moons cottage enough as it was a truly wonderful relaxing place for our holiday.
A fantastic, secluded, getaway.
A massive thank you to the owners for their hospitality. Golant isn't the most accessible and the parking was an exercise in precision driving, but we were forewarned and with a Golf it was perfectly manageable. Without these factors though it wouldn't be half as peaceful. The pub was a two minute walk away, and does good food. Despite being so close I could barely hear it at all. There's a small park for the kids to play in and kick a ball around as well. For more amenities there's Fowey a couple of miles down the road, or for a larger shop St Austell isn't much further. With regards to the house itself, we couldn't have asked for more. It's comfortable yet spacious, with a quirky layout. The outdoor shower is a great touch, although it has made mine quite boring now. Also, I really want a rooftop terrace too. All in all this was a perfect base for a much needed family holiday. I would highly, highly, recommend.
Having visited Golant several times before we knew that we'd love the location, and Moons Cottage did not disappoint for accommodation.
Moons is a beautiful home, it is spacious, clean and comfortable. It is also the most well equipped holiday cottage we have stayed in (in terms of kitchen utensils, cleaning equipment etc). Highlights: - The outdoor shower is amazing, a must try for anyone staying! - The kitchen is really spacious with plenty of seating and really well equipped with everything you could need - The balcony/garden is beautiful, such a clever use of the available outdoor space. We enjoyed several dinners outside - The living room has a projector with a screen that comes down over the window, it has a dvd player connected and a firestick available for use, perfect for a cosy movie night - The cottage is just a minutes walk from the local pub, and a further minute from the local playing field and playground I could keep going about the highlights because we just loved it at Moons! One small downside, the master and second bedrooms could both do with some blackout blinds/curtains due to being hit with full sun in the early hours - but this is just a minor issue. Golant itself is a beautiful village, the Fisherman's Arms is a super friendly local pub offering great food, would recommend for a meal out. However, visitors should be aware that the roads are very tight. There are two parking spaces at Moons, I recommend using the one at the back of the cottage as it is much easier to pull out of, the one at the front would require reversing down a tight road which would be difficult in a large vehicle. The cottage is also situated only a short drive from some great places to visit, we spent a day at Lanhydrock National Trust, one in Mevagissey, and several at Polkerris Beach. Polkerris is a must visit for beach lovers! All in all, I'd highly recommend Moons, we definitely hope to visit again in future!
