We had such a lovely week.

We have stayed at Solana previously and as before we had a great time. It really is a very special place.

The solana is lovely everything you need but the solana has very steep steps down to the Lodge so if you have mobility issues this would be a problem for you.

The mattress in the main bedroom is very soft just from personal preference this needs changing to a firmer one . Thank you for the scones , jam & clotted cream very yummy

An amazing place to stay , lovely and clean , everything you need for a totally relaxing break.

Fantastic views and scenery, great base for exploring some beautiful villages in this part of Cornwall. We would love to come and stay again.

A beautiful and well equiped place to stay!

We loved it! Sadly problems with opening the key safe and some windows (a big one facing the sea was "blind" because of dampness between the windowpanes, one of the doors facing the sea wasn´t allowed to be opened at all).

There are no faults to be found with Solana.

We enjoyed our few days in April staying there. The property was just as we hoped. Well kept, really clean, comfortable beds, for us an unbeatable location, with a dedicated parking space, albeit more spaces almost opposite. Exceptional value for money, we loved it. Highly recommend.

Beautiful chalet, lovely warm and cosy.

Would have been nice to have a draining mat by sink as we did not like leaving washing up standing on the wooden surface. During our stay we had a few stormy days, it would have been helpful to have an airer to hang damp clothes. for six days the neighbouring empty chalet had all their outside lights on constantly. one particular one was like a spotlight shining in the front door all night. Wonderful stay will return. 5star review

Had the most relaxing week at Solana.

The designated parking space was the deciding factor for us and it was worth its weight in gold. Beds were comfy, kitchen was superbly equipped. WiFi and TV were great as the weather was too bad to go out on a few occasions. Another comfortable chair would be useful as it’s a 4 person property but only 3 seats? Also a handrail on the steps would be safer for guests but the cherry on the cake is of course it’s location. The astounding view from Solana cannot be beaten. We really didn’t want to come home. Superb accommodation in a fabulous location.

So, to pre-empt this review, we've stayed in a lot of holiday lets all over the UK and Europe.

Ultimately we stayed here for the privacy and amazing view for a birthday, and there are amazing views. It's a shame that there's nowhere indoors to sit comfortably and enjoy it though, especially in wet or wintery weather. Don't get us wrong, the sofa is comfy for 2 people, but the chalet hasn't been designed to be able to enjoy the view from indoors unless you're stood up or sitting on a hard window or dining seat. Unfortunately there have been some intense storms this winter and we believe as a consequence one of the main window's double glazing has blown, so the view is almost completely obscured from this window. We're presuming this will be replaced ASAP as the owners are around at the moment doing renovations on other of their properties. We were dissapointed about this. If I rented this property over the next higher paying months, we would especially want this to be repaired. The wind tends to howl through the doors and windows, even blowing and billowing the blinds in the bedrooms (the only rooms with any shade/blinds) And obviously there have been a lot of leaks through the windows as the cream coloured window seat cushions have brown staining on them, which isn't very pleasant to be honest. All the windows and double doors are locked. There are keys around for them but we tried but couldn't open them. Presumably because the wooden frames are swollen because of the wet weather. Space is a premium but a full length mirror would have been good. The bathroom is sleak, very clean and roomy. Good shower and nice towels. It would have been good to have a clothes airer supplied as there's nowhere to dry extra towels, clothes etc. The kitchen is well equipped, even has sharp knives! The lighting in the kitchen and lounge area is all or nothing, as the main ceiling lights are on one switch, (even a dimmer switch would have sufficed) but we moved one of the lamps from the small bedroom onto the kitchen counter which worked ok and made it cosy. If there were more than 3 people staying, there are only 3 comfy chairs indoors and 3 garden chairs. There's no outside table. Some binoculars would have been appreciated, but luckily we brought a pair. Some blankets for sitting outside would have been a nice touch too. The outside area where the garden chairs are is a bit like scrub land and could do with a bit of landscaping or tidying to make it more appealing and easier under feet especially in the winter. We visited in February and can honestly say the chalet is very warm and cosy. Thank you for the milk and cream tea and the printed info/photo book was interesting and a nice touch. This is a charming little chalet and commands a sought-after view and to command the higher fees it needs to sharpen up compared with neighbouring properties. Some improvements would avoid dissapointment and encourage repeat stays. The lady who looks after it for the owners is extremely friendly and accommodating and does a fabulous job cleaning and preparing the chalet.

Easy parking, clear instructions and a very clean and impressively furnished/fitted interior- not to mention plenty of outdoor space with amazing views of the bay- we will definitely return. Thank you!

The whole place was just what we wanted it was warm and the location was stunning.

We had issues with opening and closing the windows but nothing major the storm at the time wasn’t kind but we will be rebooking for another stay in 2026 , absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful holiday home in a stunning location at Whitsand Bay.

Sea views from every room and a well-equipped kitchen for self-catering. Three Adirondack chairs outside invite you to relax and enjoy the view. For breakfast or afternoon snacks, the Cliff Top Café is about a 15-minute walk away. The beautiful sandy beach is accessible via a short but steep path. The bus stop and the South West Coast Path are almost right outside the door. We felt completely at ease and would happily return anytime.

Delighful accommodation.

Bright, comfortable, very well-appointed and attractively decorated. Despite the often inclement weather, I still was able, on occasions when the rain stopped and the clouds cleared, to appreciate the fantastic views in both directions along the coast. A delighful holiday, despite the unfortunate weather. Highly recommended.

What an amazing place!

We had a such a wonderful week in this beautiful area. The cabin is perfect and what a magnificent view.

! This was our second trip to Solana. Again we had an amazing few days away . Everything about Solana is just perfect . Views are spectacular. And accommodation is excellent. Spotlessly clean . We are all ready planning our 3rd trip back for next year . Thank you again for a great stay

Superb positioning and will definitely return.

My wife was recovering form a hip replacement and she did not find the steps to the property a problem despite having to use a pair of crutches.

What a very warm Cornish welcome.!! We really loved the chalet . It is very well equipped with everything you need and is very tastefully furnished with fantastic views.It is a perfect fit for the heritage and traditions of its location. The booklet containing the family history was fascinating and informative. I have loved the Whitsand Bay area since visiting it first in 1974 as a child. Whilst visiting Whitsands with my partner in 2022 we saw Solana being built and said hello to the owners. We said to ourselves " We would love to stay there some day". Sometimes your dreams really do come true.!! We are really looking forward to returning again in 2025

Beautiful cottage with amazing views of the sea.

It had everything you could possibly need for a holiday. The steps leading to the cottage are steep but no problem for us.

! Our stay at Solana was just perfect. There is absolutely nothing you wouldn’t love about this place. Everything and more is just as described . I would highly recommend any one who was thinking about booking a stay at Solana to not hesitate. It’s absolutely stunning there . Immaculately clean . And the added touch of a cream tea when we arrived . Would love to go back at some point . Thank you Solana for a great stay .

We as a family of 4 with a jung adults had a really great stay at the holiday house for 1 week.

Everything was clean, it was bright and well equipped. The beds were great. Parking is little bit complicated as the parking space is quite small. But this is the same with most of the roads to the house. There were only 2 things we missed. A usable clothes airer even only to dry towels. 4 chairs for the garden. In total we really enjoyed our stay and recommend it without restrictions to others.

All good but it would have been nice if we had a fire place outside and maybe also a hot Tub outside.

Some sun beds would have been useful.

After a week enjoying the cottage none of us wanted to leave.

We loved it dearly. The cottage just felt welcoming, cozy and luxurious. It just felt right. We highly appreciated the warm welcome by flowers (they were nice till the end of our stay), having scones, clotted cream and jam at hand and also tea and Cornish coffee (I definitely need that at home) - thank you very much for this. It was delicious. The book about Solana and the family history were intrigueing. We love stories and families history. Going to Exeter just for Cider made smile. Though we did not make it there during our stay. We fully understand why he stayed on his premises or more in his parish. It was the best equipped kitchen we ever had during family vacation. This level is exceptional. The TV streaming services … we just felt spoilt. The view around the cottage, being near a neighbour without seeing anyone - that is just us. We loved it. We would highly recommend a stay at Solana.

Stunning view, nice property, well equipped.

For the perfect experience we would have liked slightly wider beds and harder mattresses (they lacked support in the lumbar area), as well as little more space for luggage etc. Furniture such as table and chairs were a little wobbly and may need some repair or replacement. If I had to make a suggestion for improvement, I'd say that there is more potential in the garden area that could be further improved to make it even nicer to enjoy the view when the weather is fine. All in all, however, this is "complaining" on a very high level. It is a great and well maintained house in a lovely area. We'd be happy to come back!

What a great place to stay, beautiful location, top quality accommodation with everything you need, bright clean and comfortable, welcome gift from the owner was welcome and appreciated, whitesand bay and Cornwall have alot to offer with plenty to do and see, But if you want a quite break away from it all then Solana offers that, sit back relax and enjoy sunrises, seaviews and sunsets cook a meal or 2 in the well equipped kitchen and have few drinks, the odd double decker ( yes double decker ) drifts quietly by on the quite military road, take a long walk on the beach and have a swim in the cleat sea, then have a pipping hot shower in clean bright toilet / showroom, Parking is limited to one car next to the cabin there is carpark a short walk away not sure its free, you will need to be relatively mobile as there around 28 large steps down from the road that could be a challenge for some that also applies to getting down to the beach, also I found the mattreses a little to soft the bed was low and a little light duty, these are just minor observations, really enjoy the place and the stay, highly recommended its as good as it looks

A fabulous spot.

Unprecedented views. Well presented throughout.sad to leave it behind. Might be worth pointing out that there is only one allocated parking spot and that a second vehicle might prove a problem for parking, as spaces are at a premium along the cliff top road. Would gladly stay there again if in the area

Well what can I say it's all about the view we stayed at Solana for my partners 40th and she loved it we are accommodation cleaners so we do know what to expect but the property was stunning and spotless very well equipped as well and the small touches were lovely so would I stay here again I live in Cornwall and it's a massive yes from us so somebody who doesn't live here already I wouldn't think that Solana couldn't fail to impress again spotless so thanks to whoever cleaned it and thanks to the owners for letting us stay in this gorgeous property with this gorgeous view

A lovely Easter weekend at Solana, with uninterrupted sea views.

Can even see the lighthouse at night. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable. We even managed to enjoy a BBQ during on the sunny Easter Sunday. Michelle the property manager was lovely and easily contactable by text (for info, we’re on Sky Mobile/O2 and we were able to get mobile signal by the kitchen window, otherwise we had the WiFi for data msgs).

Solana was absolutely beautiful.

It’s well maintained and super clean. It’s well equipped with quality furnishings and linens. The location is stunning and no one would be disappointed if they booked this accommodation. Contact with the owner prior to arrival was welcomed as was the complimentary milk , tea and coffee. A special treat was the mince pies

Solana is such a good place to stay if you just want peace & quiet we will definitely be booking here again

This is a lovely property and we enjoyed our stay.

It has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, but is lacking a few things that would make it perfect: in particular, we were very surprised that there was no microwave in the kitchen (and as a result, we had to use more electricity to cook things in the oven). Also, the lack of a handrail on the steps to the cottage concerned us - we would not go out after dark for fear of falling on the steps coming back in.

This was a great place to stay Very clean and scones jam and milk flowers was a nice touch The BBQ was to small to use And no where to hang clothes And a full length mirror would have been nice for the wife But I must say again this was.

Lovely place with great views

This was an absolutely lovely holiday home.

We had a fantastic time. We felt very welcome, especially when we arrived late with no groceries but found tea, mild and biscuits as a surprise. The caretaker was very friendly and helpful. We were a little disappointed in the lack of a barbeque which was on the listing, but we understand the property is new and still a little bit of a work in progress. I would also recommend some storage for clothes. there are no drawers or wardrobes. Space is an issue for these things, but a suggestion is roller drawers/baskets for under the beds, maybe? Overall a brilliant, quiet home with a beautiful view. Highly recommended.

I have already given feedback to the owner via the person looking after the property and requested a partial refund but we have not heard back from him.

The main issues were: - no designated parking space as described, so this was really inconvenient, especially on arrival - no microwave or ironing board - no storage for clothes at all - inner doormat not safe - skidded across the floor on first step - dangerous. - no blinds on main windows, means you can't see TV properly. We would now like to request a partial refund via Sykes as the property was not fully ready; we were the first occupants. I am a frequent Sykes customer and always happy with your properties.
