We loved our 7 nights stay wanted to stay longer .

Went to quick, the place was amazing everything you needed, very cosy the hot tub was amazing & paddy was there to help with anything you needed & very friendly. The hot tub was so nice , & had lovely welcome gifts what was very much appreciated on arrival too, dogs loved there stay aswell watching the rabbits every morning through the window ☺️ would highly recommend amazing stay xxxx

Fabulous property, would love to come back some day.

It was clean, comfortable, and the little welcome gifts - wine, coffee, chocolate biscuits, and of course, biscuits for the dog, made us feel instantly at home. The garden is fully fenced so our dog had a place to run free. It was during the June heatwave so we used the hot tub daily - as a cold plunge pool during the day, heating it up for a relaxing evening. The rabbits on the lawn were a joy. We decided not to walk to the nearby pub, as the lanes were narrow, but stopped off there on our way back from days out several times.

Upon arrival at Woodcutters my husband looked disappointed as there was no view but he soon changed his mind when he realised how peaceful it was.

On entering the property we found everything we needed to make our stay comfortable including milk, wine and biscuits as a welcome. The property was beautifully furnished with a mix of modern and classic furnishing and the bathrooms were spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything, and more, than we needed so making our holiday easy with accessible cooking facilities, a great fridge freezer and a dishwasher. In the garden was an array of furniture, which we were able to use for a couple of days owing to the unfortunate bad weather, along with a hot tub that we didn't use but was all ready should we have decided to. As night fell each night we were enveloped in the darkness that only isolation can offer and in the morning we were woken by the beautiful dawn chorus. As far as sleep was concerned, the bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed some excellent nights sleep. There was a feeling of delightful isolation but close enough to everything to be able to get anywhere. We would very much like to thank the owners and hope that we will be welcome to return again, despite not meeting them.

Woodcutters is definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed in and could not believe how well equipped it was.

Paddy and Kitty have thought of everything to provide you with a peaceful and totally relaxing break from the moment you walk in the door. The hot tub/jacuzzi was so welcoming and refreshing you really did not want to get out and we enjoyed our stay so much we wished we could stay longer. We hope to be back soon.

Lovely ,quiet, relaxing and comfortable place to unwind and de-stress , it's a home from home , we come back every year .

The cottage was well provided for with all we needed and probably more, we met one of the owners who was very helpful with a few minor issues.

Sadly for us the weather was not in our favour except for maybe one afternoon, the views were very nice, in better weather sure it would be spectacular. The roads in and out are not great especially if you have a large car, equally one there its lovely and quite.

Just love it at Woodcutters.

I know most people probably don’t cook when on holiday…. sadly I have to. The oven is a bit of a nightmare… the door swings shut when you are trying to get stuff out … catching your arm! The temperature… does its own thing… a few tablespoons would be good and some eggcups!?! But everything else is just great…. Love it …. Thank you Kitty and Paddy for letting us come…X

Very secluded.

Spotless comfortable,peaceful very safe for my greyhound no worries about enclosed garden.

The cottage had everything a guest would need.

The wood fired hot tub is awesome. Set a fire once a day to keep it hot and you are always able to take a plunge. The location is perfect as there is no noise at all. To have 2 en-suites is a real luxury. The kitchen has everything and we were even able to do our washing before we headed home. Our dog loved the cottage and garden. Will highly recommend to friends and family. We met Paddy on arrival and he gave us some great local info on beaches etc. loved the welcome gifts which were a lovely treat. Thanks

What an amazing two weeks me, my partner tara and lola our dog had at woodcutters!

Paddy and his family are lovely people, very friendly, welcoming and easy to talk too. They go out there way to make you feel welcome and work you can tell they work so hard. The garden and tub was just what we needed, lola is blind but we felt safe in the tub to let her wander it was very secure and large. The place itself is as the name suggests, very rustic but very comfortable and clean, kitchen had everything needed to self cater if needed. Beds were large and comfortable and the whole place was very secluded with no one looking onto the garden, very private. You would also get rabbits in the garden every night, felt very nature friendly! Final point location was only 10minutes to a large tesco and A roads to get there, apart from the last mile was typical cornish single track but certainly not the worst one ive driven down. Thanks again to paddy and family.

We thought the cottage was lovely, with most things supplied to enable us to enjoy our week.

It was decorated nicely and there was plenty of space. We enjoyed the choice of bathrooms. The enclosed garden was perfect to keep our dog safe. The hot tub was nice, just a bit of a chore to prepare. We cannot give 5 stars as the sofas were too low and I really struggled to get up out of them. We could find no instructions for the appliances and had to work out for ourselves.

Very disappointed.

We expected a barn conversion with the owners living in the farmhouse but the 'farmhouse' was just another letting accomodation. These 2 units are actually on a glamping site - see quirky Cornish holidays on Google - which means that there is very little space to walk round the site as there are 8 further units all with private gardens and hot tubs. The barn is not relaxing as the 2 settees are very old, very low and most uncomfortable - my wife sat on a dining chair most nights as the settee made her back very bad. Many floor tiles are cracked. The window blind in the cooking area had been broken, removed and not replaced and made cooking a problem with the sun streaming through. There are not any instruction manuals for anything - we had to call the owner to show us how to fire the gas oven. The cooker is placed against a cupboard which means the the oven door does not open fully and makes it extremely dangerous when trying to remove hot cooked items. The bookcase shown in the pictures has been replaced with a full length window which means that you need to have the curtain pulled most of the time as cars and vans park right outside invading the privacy of the unit. The bed in the en-suite is a little soft but otherwise fine. There are no curtains other than some nets which do not even cover the glass. Goodness knows how people who hate daylight in the morning get on for sleep. No bedside table on the one side. The shower is good. The bed in the second bedroom needs a new mattress as the one on there is not fit for purpose. The garden is very good and we enjoyed many times of sitting out there. However, it is not dog-proof as smaller dogs can easily get through the bars of the gate. Some netting on there would help. The gate itself is quite a job to open as there is not a bottom rail, just a wheel to push through the gravel. The hot tub was there but we did not use so cannot comment other than to say that the smell of chlorine was overcoming. The welcome pack of wine, coffee and biscuits was nice - but no milk and the nearest shop was shut when we got there. All in all probably the most disappointing Sykes cottage we have stayed in

One of the best places we’ve stayed in definitely going to go back it has everything that you need for a relaxing break and the owners are lovely people

A lovely home from home hideaway bungalow.

It was very spacious,equipped with everything I needed for a four week stay and the hot tub was a great treat after a busy day. Paddy and Kitty were very friendly and keen to help if needed and it was lovely listening to the owls at night. The garden was dog proof too ,ideal for my partner's dog who likes to escape ! I would highly recommend !!

It is very well equipped, and very comfortable, lovely and warm , and you could happily live there full time , it has everything you could ever need , a lovely quiet , private sanctuary, we have already booked twice for next year , Good value for money , a home away from home suited us perfectly .

The cottage was beautifully equipped and so welcoming. The welcome pack was super many thanks! The accommodation was ideal for my husband who has limited mobility particularly the walk in shower.

Fabulous cosy cottage in a quiet area.

Very nice welcome cream tea treats on arrival and the friendly owners Paddy & Kitty are available if any help is needed. The dog enjoyed the freedom of the enclosed garden and I recommend trying the hot tub (even in cooler November weather). The cottage is a good base for exploring both north Cornwall and further south - definitely recommend it for future stays.

It's perfect.

Paddy and Kitty are wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The cottage is wonderful. Comfortable and every thing you could possibly want is there. I was so impressed with the kitchen. I am someone who loves to cook and there was everything I needed. The little touches when you arrive truly make you feel wanted and special. The wine was a great choice, the cream tea and lovely coffee. There was milk in the fridge and butter. The lights were on and it all made us feel so welcome. The hot tub is great fun. The television brilliant. The peace and quite tangible. Watching the rabbits, black! And grey amazing. A perfect holiday. We will hope to go back.

Fantastic well equipped cottage with the best welcome pack we have ever had!

Large and private dog proof garden embellished by a hot tub - very popular with the ladies who were walking long distances each day. Great accommodation for 2 couples as the bedrooms and bathrooms are at opposite ends of the open plan living area. Ideally placed for National Trust properties, Launceston and Tavistock with an excellent pub (Springer Spaniel) a short distance away. Owners very helpful. We had a great holiday at Woodcutters.

We loved our stay at woodcutters cottage.

The whole place was well equipped, spacious, clean and tidy. The welcome pack was a lovely touch and welcome. Plenty of outdoor space including nice garden and car parking. The hot tub was good and well used although we did manage to get it a little bit too hot one day. The host’s were welcoming and asked us, during the week, if everything was ok. However they were not intrusive. We would recommend this property as we had a great time here.

How ever the sofas are incredibly low .causing issues getting up as my elderly mother struggled . Also extractor in ensuite bathroom not working .

Couldn't ask for more - hot tub was fantastic, garden beautiful and tranquil (and teeming with wildlife!), and the welcome goodies were a lovely treat. No complaints at all and a big thanks to Kitty, Paddy and everyone else.

Very comfortable house with everything you could possibly need along with the peaceful, beautiful garden with it's abundance of wildlife and birdsong. Even the weather was kind to us!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Woodcutters Barn especially the peace and quiet after a long day exploring.

The Host had provided everything we needed. We really appreciated the welcome pack of wine, milk, scones and jam. Our dog loved the garden and spent every moment out there. We also loved the wildlife and the views. The downside of the location was that there was nowhere to walk after dinner as the country roads are narrow and there is no pavement. That aside we had a lovely break and would recommend this property. T and G

Wow what a find!

We had a perfect week at this beautiful cottage which is set in the most peaceful of locations! You are surrounded by nature, the sounds of the many different birds in the mornings and evenings was so relaxing, especially when immersed in the hot tub! My partner has suffered ill health for a while and this was perfect for him! Paddy was extremely welcoming and full of helpful info. If circumstances allow we will be back again!!

Even more beautiful than the pictures show, such wonderful hosts who were so welcoming and lovely, and the house was just gorgeous.

So many wonderful Cornwall and Devon places to stay nearby. Hot tub was a dream

Peace and quiet….

wonderful. We were blessed with dry weather…. The garden was lovely for our Newfoundland……. FENCED…. ! The cottage was spacious…. brilliant shower! Just a couple of possible suggestions….. The cooker was maybe on a bit of a ‘lean’ as I had to hold the oven door open with my foot… otherwise it would have swung shut! Some instructions on how to use the cooker would have been handy! Maybe some egg cups and some serving spoons. Generally the kitchen was better equipped than anywhere we have stayed! Fab fridge and freezer and cupboard space. A downside for me personally…. I am somewhat vertically challenged… all I could see in the main bathroom mirror was the top of my head!!!! Some might say that’s all you’d want to see

Lovely holiday property for our brief stay, plenty of room, probably the only downside was something about which nobody can control - the weather!

It rained every day except our going home day, but we have had holidays in Cornwall at least once a year for over 30-years now so we know the sun does not shine all of the time.

The property is beautiful, very well equipped, very clean and a lovely welcome pack.

Directions were clear and easy to find. The property itself is perfect, my only criticism is the outside space and hot tub. Nowhere in the description did it mention the hot tub was wood fired, and there were not any pictures of the hot tub on the website (this had since changed as I have checked), therefore we were not prepared for this. Upon arrival, the hot tub was not lit, there were no instructions on how to use it, so we were a bit clueless. Eventually got through to the staff on site, who said "oh did you not receive the PDF instructions", no we did not. So he lit it, and we had to wait 4 hours until it was warm enough to use! I was then told they supply two bags of wood, after then it is £5 a bag, again this is not mentioned anywhere on the website, so this wasn't ideal for us. It was a lot.of effort to keep the tub warm enough to use for the week, and there is no way of regulating the temperature of even a thermometer to see what the temperature is, so.then it was the other extreme and it was too hot for my children to use, I could barely put my foot in it. This was the largest negative point for us, it was not easy to use, cost us a lot in wood for the week, and was actually rather stressful to manage, instead of relaxing to use. There was no filter on the tub, the water was filthy after 3 days, the staff came on our last day and added a filter and chemicals, but we had finished by then. This would.put us off coming back, which is a shame as the property itself is so beautiful. The garden is not suitable for small dogs. Although there is a wire fence around, my dog could get through some gaps, and also got her head caught in the wire. I checked before booking how secure the garden is so this was a bit disappointing too. If you have a large dog it would be perfect. Lots of woody area with animal holes dug out, again my small dog got stuck a few times. This meant we couldn't just let her out in the garden, we had to keep her on her lead or stay with us the whole time. Beautiful garden generally, but just not suitable for a small dog. The shop and pub are not really walking distance away, the lanes are very narrow and not suitable for children and dogs. The farm ship 3 miles away is lovely, but is on a main road so again you can't walk, worth a visit though. All in all we had a lovely week, would I recommend? Yes, as long as you don't need a hot tub all the time or a secure garden. Beautiful property couldn't fault that.

We had a lovely time at the Woodcutters Barn in Launceston.

On arrival there was a gift of scones, jam, clotted cream, wine and coffee, which was relly nice. The hot tub was really good, clean, hot, bubbly, relaxing, brand new and a real treat. The house was amazing with everything you could need, really cosy and comfortable. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be booking with them again.

Wonderful property set in a great garden, which the little one loved running around and playing with her ball.

The house is lovely with a rustic charm. There was an amazing hamper of goodies along with flowers provided on arrival. Really comfortable house with everything somebody needs. Excellent showers and water pressure. Kitchen has everything you need with everything being beautifully clean. The gas oven does take a bit of getting used to and is not very efficient. The owners checked in a number of times to ensure everything was well and made suggestions when we were looking for beaches to visit. We had no issue with mobile signal, so it was no issue to us, but it appears that no WiFi code is provided? There were an awful lot of flies in the house on arrival that took a while to get rid off. The hot tub was wonderful and relaxing, however disappointing that it was not fully working yet. Which is not noted in the listing. Hopefully it will soon. The bench in the garden is broken and needs to be replaced. This was our first visit to Cornwall and this property was a lovely base for our adventures and we hope to return in the future.
