Hook Cottage is a ground floor cottage set in the grounds of Cardwen Farm, one of small group of privately owned holiday cottages close to the seaside village of Looe in Cornwall.
Internally, the property boasts a lovely open-plan living space, with a dining area and a fitted kitchen.
The lounge has a large corner sofa, perfect for relaxing after a long day sightseeing, arranged around a wood burning stove..
Enjoy the benefits of the large flat screen SmartTV and DVD player, as well as an abundance of books and games to keep you entertained.
The dining area has seating for up to four people and makes for a lovely social space.
The kitchen has been fitted with all you require to prepare meals and picnics for family outings.
Down the hall you will find two spacious bedrooms: one King Size double and one twin with a separate family bathroom, with a bath and shower over, perfect for a relaxing soak after a long day.
While you stay at Hook Cottage, why not visit Looe Mystery Treasure Trail, ideal for kids.
With coded directions based all over town, this gives both parents and children the chance to explore the magnificent countryside of Looe.
Starting at the ferry steps and travelling to an impressive 19th century arched bridge.

A stunning cottage in a beautiful location.
Very comfortable and tranquil. We travelled as a couple and it was ideally suited to us and would be for a family of four as well. Ease of access to nearby Polperro, Looe and Fowey (via the car Ferry). Siobhan the host was extremely friendly and welcoming and the provision of a cream tea on arrival was a lovely touch.

Property is absolutley beautiful and is set in gorgeous grounds.
Would highly recommend this cottage. Has everything you need for a comfortable holiday experience. It felt like a home away from home rather than a holiday stay. Host's were friendly and approchable if there where any issues.

Everything you could possibly think of is supplied. You can tell great care is given to provide a first class stay. The cream tea and owl tv just tops off a perfect stay.

Generally a beautiful cottage.
Well equipped for everyone and lovely and clean. We just had issues because of our mobility and having an electric car, which for the first couple of days we were empty. Trenderway Farm is the nearest, but slow charging. We waited one and a half hours and it charged it 8 miles! Millport carpark in Looe, has a fast charger Po Go, just by the exit barrier. Don't use Evolt council ones as slow and we were hacked, someone had put a scam over the QR code! If mobility problems it's too far to walk walk to pub or nearby walks with dog's. Also advertising gave the impression that there was huge grounds the dogs could run free. But not the case, beautiful, varied gardens, but not dog friendly, especially if they tend to wander. We had trouble getting up and down off couch, too low, and showe in bath. The front doorstep is too high, but if you use the double patio doors at the front it's fine. But for able bodied people it's wonderful. ,
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback Jean, we always read and take on board all comments. I was sorry to learn that you found difficulty with your vehicle. Other electric charging points include the petrol station at Trerulefoot that has a diner next to charging points, with more chargers available at Fowey. Next to Milpool carpark is a private boatyard behind the foundry shop which also offers charging stations. I hope readers will take the opportunity to review the more than 40 reviews from other dog owners who thoroughly enjoyed our property with their dogs. As the owner I believe we are very much dog friendly and enjoy meeting new four legged friends each week. However, I do not believe that being dog friendly means letting dogs out of the cottage to roam free unsupervised, (repeatedly not picking up poo in the grounds), despite being politely asked too after complaints from other guests about your dogs behaviour. We provide water / food bowls, extra throws, poop scoop bags and have toys available for dogs. As dog owners ourselves we value having our beloved furry companion with us and love that our guests bring their own dogs each week too. I am sorry to learn that mobility problems stopped you from enjoying a walk to the village pub and shops. For many people this is a pleasant five minute walk, but there are local taxi firms and the pub enjoys a large car park. We have carefully checked the advert as have Sykes Cottages and feel our advert is clear on the lovely 2.5 acre situation guests can enjoy. The shower over the bath is shown clearly. The sofa is a fairly standard size, but your comments will be considered if and when we replace the sofa in the future, thank you. The double opening patio doors have been carefully placed to provide great access to the property and we have always provided ramps, grab handles and non slip mats to assist any guests who would benefit from these options to be as inclusive as we can in our properties.

Stunning location. Every little convenience and comfort thought about and provided here, perfect host always available and responsive for any questions and needs. As a family we go and stay away in cottages every Christmas, and this place is by far our favourite! We really did love this place, and would love to come back in the Summer. Many thanks to Siobhan for making our Christmas break so perfect Highly recommended

Cottage extremely comfortable, very well equipped, warm cosy, wood burner great in the evening.
Certainly a home from home. Hosts very welcoming and close by. Cottage in good location for both coasts and attractions, towns, cities and moors, would highly recommend it.
Our stay was perfect from start to finish.
The cottage was well equipped. you couldn't fault a thing. The cottage was perfect for looe & polperro we also went to Mevagissey and port issac. The Jubilee inn is a short distance up the Road. The weather was beautiful would we go back definitely

Had a fantastic stay here at Hook Cottage.
Property was well maintained, brilliantly equipped, clean , comfortable and warm. We loved it. Lots of space and lovely vaulted ceilings. Full of character. Hard floors meant it was dog friendly too. Our spaniel enjoyed himself too! Fridge freezer was a decent size ( not just an ice box). Shower was excellent. There was a great shared recycling area too. The property was situated in a quiet area of the village which was perfect for us. The grounds were great too. We loved seeing the cows and hens from the kitchen window. Pub and shops were within a very easy walking distance. Excellent location for exploring South East Cornwall but also within easy reach of venturing further afield. Owners were friendly ( as was Archie the dog!) and helpful. Thank you so much for the lovely cream tea and the fresh eggs! We would love to revisit.

very clean and fully kitted out, had some small lighting issues, but they did not spoil our holiday experience
Thank you for taking the time to leave this feedback. As you did not want us to take a look during your stay I had a look at changeover time and think that you may have found the old light fittings under the kitchen cabinets that had previously contained fluorescent bulbs. These light fittings had already been replaced by modern lighting in the kitchen. During our next period of maintenance we will remove these from under the cabinets and label switches.
An amazing, well equipped cottage in a stunning location.
Close to wonderful beaches and harbour villages. The owner is a fantastic host and nothing is too much trouble. I only wished we had booked to stay longer. We will definitely return! Diolch am wyliau bendigedig!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location.
Very well equipped and very clean. A lovely cream tea had been left for us on our arrival, which was very welcome! Lots of useful information had been left for us including things to do and see and information about local village and surrounding area. Shall definitely return!

Well furnished, good beds !
Good quality bed linens and towels. Plenty of information on the local area. Well kept recycling area very impressed with that! Nice to be able to get fresh eggs on site . As a keen gardener my only fault is I would love to have got the vast gardens under control there are some amazing plants and areas but all a little overgrown . I would definitely recommend the cottages to family and friends.

This was one of the best cottages we have hired.
The host was very welcoming. Clean, comfortable seating, comfortable beds, and a good supply of hot water with good water pressure. These are important things, yet sadly lacking at other places. Next time we choose the Looe area, we will not hesitate to book here again.

Cottage was as we expected if not better. Loved the chickens and fresh eggs in the morning and how beautiful and safe the gardens were. It’s situated in a great location that means you can get most places in a short amount of time. We would highly recommend Hook Cottage and plan to go back soon.

Our holiday property, Hook Cottage Cardwen Farm Pelynt, was everything we hoped it would be.
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well worth the 600 mile drive to get there!! I’d have no hesitation in recommending it to any of our friends and family so thanks again to Shevaun and her family for a fabulous holiday. The only complaint we had was that we never did meet Archie

We had a lovely holiday at Hook Cottage.
The owners had put a lot of thought in making the cottage a lovely place to stay. The furniture was good quality & the bed and large corner sofa was very comfortable. The kitchen & bathroom was well designed and equipped. It was a very peaceful location and nice gardens with shrubs and flowers in tubs, very pretty . I would recommend this property to everyone & wish them a happy holiday. It is near tourist attractions of Looe, Polperro, Talland bay etc, a nice area to visit.
This is a lovely comfortable cottage in a lovely location.
It was beautifully clean and well equipped. The gardens surrounding are lovely. The owner was very helpful and gave us good tips on where to go and places to eat. The cream tea on arrival was a nice treat. The only comment we would make is that the bathroom needs a make over. There was nowhere except the window ledge to place toiletries and would be difficult if there were 4 people in the cottage.
Update to feedback: The new bathroom has been installed and is looking fantastic. Heated mirror cabinets for extra storage and a new powerful shower compliment the 'makeover'. Thank you for completing your feedback following your recent stay at Hook Cottage, we are pleased to hear you liked the cottage and gardens. We have spoken with the owner who thrives to maintain the highest of standards and has confirmed that the bathroom will be renovated in November of this year in keeping with the rest of the cottage which has undergone top to toe improvements over the past 2 years. There is a cupboard under the sink for personal bits, however some additional glass shelving will be added as soon as possible. The owners of Hook Cottage live on site and are always happy to hear thoughts on how they can make their guests stay more comfortable and are usually able to resolve any issues the same day. We hope to welcome you back to The West Country in the near future.
We spent a fantastic 14 nights at Hook Cottage.
The location is perfect. Surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of the local farms, but within a 10 minute stroll of the Jubilee Inn (which is a fantastic place to eat and drink), and a couple of local shops. Looe and Polperro are both just a few minutes drive away. The cottage itself was superb. It really was a home from home. Comfy beds, full appliances in the kitchen and even a Nespresso coffee machine. As we were travelling with two teenagers, the excellent WiFi was also a massive bonus. The gardens surrounding the property are great and in the late afternoons the cows in the field opposite come down to say hello and see what you are up to. Our entire stay could not be faulted.

Hook Cottage is in a magical setting and it couldn’t have been more perfect thanks to the owners who have thought of everything to make guests comfortable. We were made so welcome and after a 5 hr journey the scones, jam, cream and fresh milk were a lovely surprise! Our little dog had such a lovely time and visits from the family cockapoo and the hens made our day! Thank you so much for everything and for making our holiday so wonderful.. we will be back!

Very good location to get out and about. The hosts was very obliging and we knew they were there for any advice needed. Very spacious cottage both inside and out and perfect for our dogs.

With lovely decorative touches throughout, the cottage has a great range of facilities which really made our stay enjoyable. There is an excellent kitchen with good range of utensils and equipment, a smart TV, modern log burner, very comfortable bed, private little section of garden with chairs to sit in and it was an ideal place to take our Labrador. Situated walking distance from the village of Pelynt there are also many great walks and places to visit not too far away. A really relaxing week, we hope to return.

Owners live on site and site shared with 3 other cottages. Quiet location but easy to find with Satnav. Lucky enough to enjoy some of the owners hens eggs for breakfast on a couple of days. Convenient location for visiting area. Would definitely recommend.

The cottage was wonderful as were the owners.
However my dissatisfaction is with Sykes the company. Descriptions. These were different with other booking companies. Getting answers prior to the holiday from Sykes was like pulling teeth. The Insurance is needless in UK and is NOT explained prior to booking.Hidden extra charges were not explained.i.e Tumble Dryer,Disposable Barbecues,Logs. We understood the garden was enclosed,one of the main reasons for booking as we have a dog. The garden was not enclosed. I would not book with Sykes again.
We are delighted that you found the cottage and owners wonderful. Regarding the additional costs mentioned, the insurance is an option which has to be selected when booking and is not automatically added. The owners added additional laundry facilities this season in an adjacent barn, which serves the four barns on the site. The tumble dryer is charged at £5 per load and this information has been added to the web description. The owners also provide logs on arrival and for guests convenience can provide additional logs at £5 per load. The site has a gas BBQ which is complementary. If guests wish to take a BBQ to the beach they can supply disposable BBQ's for their convenience which are charged.The gardens are listed as communal, however the owners are planning to enclose the private garden completely in the future.
We had an amazing holiday, location of the cottage is brilliant and the cottage itself is amazing, full stocked with everything you could need, comfy and in the middle of the most gorgeous countryside.

Hook Cottage is beautifully furnished and clean, with a well equipped kitchen. It’s in a lovely setting overlooking fields, so nice and quiet but within easy distance of everything, including the beach. The owners make you feel very welcome and are extremely helpful.
Hook Cottage is a stunning little cottage and would thoroughly recommend.
.We were greeted with a really clean, beautifully decorated and well facilitated cottage. The owners were lovely and left us scones, cream and jam, which was a lovely touch. They popped by to welcome us too, which we appreciated. The decor is very stylish and we particularly loved the modern bathroom and every room had fragrance sticks. The master bed, let me tell you was superbly comfortable and soft and we had very good nights sleep here. We went for the cottage that had a fire, as we love nothing more than a cosy evening with wine and cheese. The owners had already set it up for us( and a basket of wood) so it was simply lighting it. What I loved was the honesty box where you could collect your own wood, which I loved as I felt very countrified! Further to that the facilities include a lovely nespresso machine, wifi (as no phone signal) washing and dish washer machines, fridge/freezer and a large TV with access to Netflix, Now TV, BBC I player ( you must have an account) and many more. A short drive or 15 min walk to Pelynt which has a well stocked Spar and also a lovely hotel/ restaurant which is a 15 min drive called Talland Bay are nearby and I would recommend. This is one of few cottages that welcome dogs too and we took our two mini sausage dogs, who were welcomed, especially in Talland Bay restaurant/hotel. I would really recommend this a lovely break for couples and family.
Our holiday at Hook Cottage was wonderful and Siobhan and Clive were absolutely great.
The cottage was lovely and furnished beautifully and we couldn’t have asked for more. We would loved to have gone again very soon but it is all booked up and too expensive for us so hopefully in September/ October we can go again... can’t wait,

Lovely owners, very helpful and welcoming. We've had many holiday cottages over the years, this is the only one we've said that we would definitely revisit. The Sykes listing failed to include the wood burner, this would put some people off. Also in the booking process, some charges were hidden. Poorly done Sykes. Cottage: Highly recommended, 5 stars.
