“We were so pleased we chose The Glade to stay in for a few days.”

It was perfect for us and our little dog. The kitchen is small but had everything we needed. A shower over bath with nice hot water. Everywhere was so lovely and clean. A great area for dog walks too. Thank you Linda and Mike for a great stay, we hope to be back. Sue and Phil.

“Our second stay at 21 The Glade and it didn't disappoint.”

It has everything needed and is so spotlessly clean. Kitchen very well equipped and plenty of towels. We love this accommodation because it is perfectly located to explore the coastline and welcoming and cosy after a fun day exploring. We will be back next year.

“We had the pleasure of spending 4 wonderful nights at this beautiful holiday home, and it truly exceeded our expectations.”

From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the peaceful and serene environment. Surrounded by nature, the setting was ideal for a relaxing break away from the busy city life. The house itself was spacious, clean, and very well-maintained. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. What we loved most was how family- and kids-friendly the place was — our children had so much fun playing in the large open outdoor space, and we felt completely at ease letting them roam around safely. There were also plenty of beautiful spots nearby to explore, making each day exciting and refreshing. Whether we wanted to relax or go out for a little adventure, the location offered the best of both worlds. A special mention must go to the owner, who was exceptionally kind, respectful, and always ready to help. Their warm hospitality made us feel right at home, and that personal touch really made a difference. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our holiday. We left with wonderful memories and would absolutely love to return in the future. Highly recommended to families, couples, or anyone looking for peace, comfort, and genuine hospitality.

“The property is very clean and decorated very nicely.”

It's located in a lovely peaceful place too. Kitchen is well equipped for visitors who may wish to make a meal too. It's a 5 minute drive into Bude, so you have the best of both holiday types. Bude is a lovely little place with shops and cafes too. This accommodation is situated in just the right place allowing the visitor a choice of surroundings near by I would recommend this property.

“A perfect chalet, upon arrival the property was spotlessly clean.”

The kitchen is very well equipped, has everything needed. A pass is available for free use of the pool, not all accommodation on the complex provides this, so it's an added benefit. Property has an electric meter but owners leave plenty of coins for electric. Owners have provided all essential information and wifi password is clearly printed and left with information pack. Property is perfectly located for all beaches and not far from Boscastle and Tintagle. Would definitely book again.

“A lovely place to stay.”

The owners left us a folder full of places to visit. They also left us a few things like milk, tea and coffee which is a god send after a long journey. The place is also very quiet, so it is brilliant break from city life. I would recommend this place to all.

The property

21, The Glade is a relaxing short break sanctuary or a comfortable holiday home from which to explore the delights of North Cornwall and Devon. It is located within Penstowe Park in a tranquil setting on the edge of Kilkhampton, 4 miles from the bustling resort of Bude.

Penstowe Park has The Stowe bar, with pool tables, eat-in and take-away food. There are numerous off-road paths and well kept large grassy areas for a peaceful stroll and for dog walking. There is also a launderette on site.

Kilkhampton village has a medieval church, countryside walks, a children's play area, 2 traditional pubs with eat-in and take-away meals, a Co-op and Spar shop, a pizza parlour / burger bar and a Chinese take-away a mile down the road.

The National Trust beach at Sandymouth Cove (café and toilets) Northcott Mouth (snack caravan and toilets) Duckpool Cove and Tamar Lakes Activity Centre (sailing, fishing, kayaking, café and children’s play area) are all within a 4 mile drive.

Bude is a very popular seaside resort with 2 well regarded beaches (including a sea pool) and a well equipped children’s play park.

It has a large leisure complex with a soft play facility and wave pool.

Around the corner from the Tourist Information Centre is a fabulous canalside walk with a castle, craft shops, a sea loch, boating, fishing and cycling. In Bude there are 3 large supermarkets (car charging available at Morrisons) and a plethora of gift shops, cafes, restaurants, modern and traditional pubs.

Less than half an hour’s drive away is the World famous Clovelly Village, the huge Milky Way family adventure centre with birds of prey show, Hartland Quay (not to be confused with Hartland Point) with fabulous coastal walks and scenery and the aptly named Wreckers Retreat bar and restaurant, and a surfers paradise at Widemouth Bay.

Within a 45 minute drive north is the Big Sheep adventure centre (including sheep racing!) the picturesque quayside at Appledore fishing village, beautiful Instow beach, and the family resort and surfing beach at Westward Ho!.

Southwards takes you to Crackington Haven Cove, Tintagel (the original Camelot?) Boscastle Harbour and Port Isaac (the ‘home’ of Doc Martin).

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.
