The Old Granary

We had a wonderful stay at Old Granary Cottage.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lovely cream tea and delicious scones, what a treat! The accommodation itself was lovely, clean and fresh, and had everything we needed for a comfortable week’s stay. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with a huge garden, a children’s play area and plenty of shaded seating areas to relax in. There is also a large pond in the middle of the garden, which our children especially loved. They enjoyed watching the big fish and even had the opportunity to feed them one morning with the owners. We were visiting family in the area, so the location was perfect for us, being just a 7-minute drive away. The hosts Ulli and Loraine were absolutely lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and with them living next door, help was always available if we needed anything. We would happily stay at Old Granary Cottage again in the future when visiting Cornwall and would definitely recommend it to other families looking for a beautiful, peaceful and welcoming place to stay. Also great for star gazing, we saw a number of shooting stars one evening, a real magical experience. Thanks for a brilliant stay!

A lovely cottage to stay in.

The gardens were beautiful. The kids loved it. The hosts were lovely and very helpful. We would come back again. Everything was there you could need in the shared room. That you could borrow and bring back when you’d finished. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week. Thank you again. Lisa, George, and kids

Lovely location with views and a great garden and safe pond.

The outside furniture and summer house were useful. Inside we had everything we needed.

The Old Grannery was just perfect for us with two golden retrievers.

The hosts were welcoming and friendly and the cream tea was a lovely surprise. The location is perfect for visiting many places of interest in Devon as well as Cornwall, coastal and inland. I shall certainly be revisiting with my Goldies, who loved having a large secure garden in which to play.

Lovely comfortable cottage, a perfect location for travelling around Cornwall & South Devon.

Really well equipped and the cream tea left for us was a nice thought and delicious. Whilst there isn't a private garden attached to the cottage as such, you can use the communal one, which is large, very pretty and peaceful with amazing views of the countryside and has comfortable seating areas and very safe for children and dogs. We felt totally at home here thanks to our hosts Lauraine & Ulli. We will definitely return.

Absolutely lovely cottage - property owner and family were so kind and helpful , everything we needed good location for touring around the garden was so nice and they made me feel like my dog was no trouble at all running around enjoying the space.

We will definitely be back, one small suggestion is an outdoor box in the colder months for dirty boots to go in save keeping in kitchen but this is just a suggestion.

Everything that we could have possible wanted was supplied for a comfortable stay.There was even a delicious cream tea on arrival! Ulli and lauraine made great hosts and are very informative. We especially liked sitting in the lovely garden early evening enjoying the the views and tranquillity around the pond, after having a full day exploring cornwall. Would definitely recommend.

This is a beautiful and cosy place to stay.

The owners made sure everything was perfect. They are always on hand, but everything still feels very private. The shared garden area is stunning. We loved that it gave our eldest son the opportunity to make a friend (even for a short while), without being in a busy holiday park.

The property was lovely, clean and comfortable with everything we needed and a beautiful welcome package. The garden and views were just perfect and the dog loved it even more than us. Lovely hosts who left really great information about dog friendly places to go. Really top holiday let actually, I'll definitely book again we loved it! A fabulous place to stay.

The Old Granary was an amazing place to stay at. Both the owners were so polite and extremely helpful at all times. Our 2 year old cocker spaniel loved the gardens? Where she was allowed to play freely !! The owners let us keep the gates at the entry so enabling us to have piece of mind that our dog wouldn’t escape or get run over if she was off the lead. Will miss the place immensely but we will be back l Thank to both of the owners xxxx

Property was pleasant.

Sadly the internet was down the entire time and with no signal it was pretty bleak. We were not made aware of this before our stay. Make checking work emails very tricky. Sadly I would not return as this made for a stressful stay.

This is a fantastic cottage my family and I really loved the cottage.

Lovely cottage, clean & comfortable in a great location for exploring North Cornwall.

Old Granary is sited in a perfect central location for exploring Cornwall with beautiful surroundings.

It’s very dog friendly which suited us with a large fenced paddock. Accommodation is very well presented, well equipped and comfortable. Would recommend staying.

Cottage was lovely, too many cobwebs, but otherwise a really lovely homely warm cottage, amazing views,lovely property owners, all in all a lovely stay.

Everything was as described and as we arrived in the dark it was great to find the property warm and the cream tea was most welcome thanks.

The location was ideal, off a quiet road, but only a couple of minutes from the A30. And no snow in Cornwall last week thanks!

It had all the facilities and equipment you could ever want and was immaculately clean! Added to it's fantastic location, ideal for exploring all the delights Cornwall has to offer this was the perfect holiday break for my family and I. Thank you, we will be back!

Had a lovely week (apart from weather 2nd half, but it didn't stop us).

Beautiful property, friendly owners. Unfortunately I didn't have a pen to write in the visitors book. Loved the cream tea on arrival, very nice! The location is more or less 'middle of nowhere' yet (Big)Tesco is an 8 minute drive. Do read the folders, full of fantastic info including dog friendly attractions, pubs etc. Really comfortable bed!.. and if a clear night (Had a few despite the weather) I would sleep with curtains open, no light pollution-bonus. Beautifully kept garden, Koi carp in the pond, an absolute idyll. Many thanks to Lauraine & Ulli. There is so much more to the cottage and location than is advertised.

Had a fantastic stay as a family of 2 adults and a 6 year old, in one of the 3 holiday cottages at this location.

The owners were very welcoming, recommended places to eat and visit. The location was secluded but on the doorstep of good, fast road links. The setting of the shared garden was tranquil with big fish pond and fruit trees, and we felt safe leaving our child to play with other children who happened to stay in the adjacent cottage. Lots of toys for the kids, sandpit and gorgeous Wendy house. The parking right outside was a godsend. The cottage was quiet at night and the beds were comfy. The shower was powerful and hot water was never a problem. The kitchen was extremely clean (like new) and well equipped with items you don't usually get for a holiday rental e.g pizza cutter, knife selection, foil, pegs. The fridge and freezer were big enough for what we bought. We managed to get WiFi strong enough for streaming services. It was a nice touch having the shared utility room with board games, body board, wind breakers available to borrow. We visited both north and south coastlines and it was a handy location for both. Thank you so much. We can't wait to stay again!

. cottage is exactly like the picture. Owners very welcoming. Garden is beautiful with stunning views. Parking spot for each cottage. Lots of information and local restaurants, places to visit in a folder collected by the owners. Cottage has everything you need, fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, kettle, toaster, washing machine. The cream tea and scones where lovely... also the milk, tea bags, coffee and butter where great on arrival too after a long drive to get there. Would highly recommend this cottage and would love to visit and stay again. Thank you from the Richardsons

We had a great time, the properties was well equipped, comfortable beds and always plenty of hot water.

The cottage is comfortable, clean and well-equipped; there was always lots of very hot water and the shower ran consistently.

The fridge is very small and we couldn’t fit everything in that we wanted to. The small lounge is cosy and soon warms up with the electric fire. The sofa and armchairs are comfortable and better than those we find in many rental properties. The bed is comfortable and we slept well. It was good to have a CD player as we didn’t want to watch TV all the time. The Wifi signal was very weak and inconsistent such that the connection was often dropped, though this was less of a problem in the bedroom. However, the data speed was reasonable. The cream tea on arrival was much appreciated and the jam was delicious. The location is delightful and peaceful and the garden with its huge pond is beautiful and a lovely place to sit when the weather is nice, which it was most of the time. Access from the nearby A30 is quick and, although the last half mile is a single track lane with only one passing place, we only once encountered another car. Arriving on the A30 from the east necessitates a right turn across the busy dual carriageway and similarly if one wants to travel west after leaving the property; the road is often very busy and we had to wait several minutes for a gap in the traffic on some occasions. We had an excellent lunch at the Eliot Arms in Tregadillett and a good value steak dinner at the Archer Arms in Lewannick, to which we walked despite the long 1 in 7 hill (total walking time about 30 minutes). Tuesday is their steak night and, although it was quiet, we were told it’s advisable to book. There are plenty of nice places to visit by car and the Cheesewring, easily accessed from Minions on the east flank of Bodmin Moor, is a remarkable geological feature worth seeing. We had an excellent week with good, dry weather and loved the practical but peaceful location.

The cottage was lovely and welcoming which made us very comfortable for the whole week.

Everything we could’ve needed and more was provided which it made it very easy. The views that came with the cottage made it peaceful and enjoyable and it was lovely to have a garden space to relax and play in.

Cream tea was welcomed and having a pint of milk in the fridge gratefully received after a long journey. Property close to Launceston for shops, restaurants and takeaways. Lots of good information provided by hosts in folders in the property. Another great break with Sykes in Cornwall.

An ideal location for exploring North, East, & West Cornwall & South Devon.

Be warned, tho', that the seclusion of this property comes at the cost of a mile long single track road with no passing places. Also the shared conservatory is not attached to the property but across the garden. Really lovely place.

Lovely setting with great views. Only Ithing I would say is that the fridge/freezer is a little small so with family of 4 it is a challenge. But that wouldn't stop us returning as it was very comfortable and great spot.

Fantastic stay in Cornwall!

The cottage was perfect foe me and my 2 children. I could not fault the cottage itself, nor the facilities!! The hosts were truly lovely - nothing was too much of a bother and we were welcomed with a cream tea...LUSH! There was nothing that hadn't been thought of - fully stocked kitchen ware (even the small things had been thought of!), washing machine, tumble dryer, and a fab shared room of which beach towels, body boards, board games, books etc were all free for guests to borrow. Beautiful location, peaceful and quiet and lots to do in the surrounding areas. I highly recommend!

A nice clean well-appointed cottage in rural Cornwall.

An easy drive to both the north and south coast beaches. We struggled with the Wifi, there was plenty of signal strength but the internet connection was very intermittent and slow. I had to purchase a 5 day BT Openzone pass to connect via a nearby property.

Cottage was ok, very clean, nice welcome pack of cream tea on arrival.

Location was good, plenty of places to visit within half an hours drive. Not the comfiest of beds and internet very poor. Overall 7/10.

Fantastic place to stay,owners really nice and on site if you have any issues which we didn't, excellent home made scones with jam and cream on arrival which was nice.

Perfect for family's with young children as the garden is a nice size with play house , slide and other toys to keep them busy, lots to do without having to drive too far would definitely recommend a stay here

Excellent hosts cottage was perfect just what we wanted totally exceeded our expectations had everything you needed.

Hosts had thought about what their guests would want and need. Hosts respected our privacy but were very sociable when invited very professional. Garden is beautiful and serene. Great place we’re definitely going back as it’s a good central location to all of Cornwall

Yes, I would likw to say that this cottage had the best information that we have ever had in your cottages - absolutely excellent - Ulli and Lauraine were away but Pat and Jeff were more than welcoming and helpful and if it were a little nearer to where we live we would certainly visit again.

A great location from which to tour the North Cornwall area. A very cosy and comfortable cottage with a really lovely reception from the owners (scones awaited our arrival and a really helpful pack which they produced of local walks). Returning to the cottage each evening was something to look forward to - we couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you!

Fabulous rural location but within easy reach of beaches and places to visit. Well worth a visit

This Cottage was the perfect place to stay to explore North Cornwall with its beautiful beaches, gardens and harbours full of character.

With only 30min to the northern coast and 45min to the south, you can always tailor your day out and not go very far to explore new things every day. We had a lovely welcome from the owners and some tasty scones, some milk and butter in the fridge as well to get started. The cottage has all a family needs for a stay of a week or two from a washing machine and iron up to crabbing basket and outdoor games. Really pleased and so were the children with the cars and wendy house to play in the garden. Definitely, recommend.

Had a lovely holiday at this cosy cottage.

It was clean & comfortable. Fabulous garden & pond with views over the countryside. Unfortunately it rained nearly all week but that didn't spoil our holiday there. Would recommend this place to anyone and will certainly be going back as soon as possible. Thank You Lauraine & Ulli for a lovely time. Cream teas on arrival were delicious & very welcome.

If you want to get away from it all this is the place!

The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed.

The hosts were lovely and very obliging - and the dog was cute too. Great views over the Cornish country-side and a really good base from which to explore northern and central Cornwall. Right next to Bodmin Moor which as great too. Can definitely recommend.

The cottage was cosy and well equipped.

From the location, I was able to visit all the towns in the north of Cornwall, and I also managed to go to Charlestown, St Austell and spent a wonderful day at the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Lorraine and Ulli were very hospitable. There is plenty of seating in the large garden and a sun room to sit out of the wind. There is a large lawn area which my dog enjoyed running around when the weather was fine. I would recommend this property
