Lovely little cottage, comfortable with access to a good swimming pool, pool table and table tennis.

Parking Space for 2 cars, side garden a little over grown but a nice sun trap at the front of the cottage to sit and read my book. Overall a peaceful stay.

We had a lovely stay at groom cottage, the house is comfortable for a family of 4 and in a great location.

The addition of the pool and games room helped keep the kids entertained too! The house is nice, the only downside i would say is that the outdoors mini garden areas have been a bit neglected and overgrown, and if they were maintained a bit better the whole space would be lovely. We had to clean down every piece of garden furniture before we could use it, and didnt want to attempt the bbq.

We had a great stay, the facilities ie the pool & games room was a bonus.

Will look forward to staying again.

All the equipment you require for self catering. Great to visit family who live in Bude. Used the pool almost every day. Nice and quiet location.

A cosy cottage, lots of character.

Everything worked, plenty of instructions in house folder. Three little outside spaces, two enclosed for dogs, the weather was lovely they ran from one to the other. Well thought out grounds, good leisure facilities and super, well maintained, heated, indoor pool. Excellent communications with the helpful owners.

We loved the property and the helpfulness and attentiveness of the owner.

It was ideal for my family and 2 dogs. It might be good to note that there are 2 double beds as per the spec. We had everything we needed, and it was all thoughtfully provided. The woods nearby were great for quick dog walks. We recommend Groom cottage for a quaint holiday stay. It provides a good base for Bude and surrounding areas.

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly relaxing getaway.

The location is brilliant, with a pub and shop just a stone's throw away, and the beach and other amenities only a 5-minute drive. It's a perfect spot for families, with great local walks and the swimming pool being a fantastic bonus.

We contacted the owner on the first day to see if we could move to another cottage on the complex not realising they were owned by other people.

Sadly our elderly dog could not cope with the very steep steps, she fell down them twice on arrival at the cottage. This also meant that most of the outside space was unusable by our 2 dogs because of the steps. The owner advised they should use the patio space outside the front door and exercise them by the grass area in the car park. She said in the description of the cottage it had stated not suitable for toddlers or people with mobility issues. We hadn’t realised when booking this would mean our dogs couldn’t use the garden areas. The layout of the cottage was very uncomfortable, there were 3 separate yard areas (not really a garden) with steep steps. The inside was very tired, there was a terrible smell of damp from the downstairs bedroom and with the position of the sofas in the lounge area you could not see the tv without straining. The shower in the bathroom was terrible and there were huge cobwebs on the ceiling. The oven seems to only be cooking on one side. The bulb in the kitchen light had blown and having to have the dining room table unfolded would have meant no space at all for our dogs beds. We had to eat at the very small table in the conservatory. There was no stair gate to stop the dogs from going upstairs which in a dog-friendly cottage we would have expected. I can’t say this is a dog-friendly place to stay at all really as even with small dogs, there isn’t enough space for them. I did use the laundry and the swimming pool which were very good. We decided to cut our holiday short and left early.

Mrs Andrew’s was so kind allowing us to check out slightly later and check in a little earlier.

This was our first time taking our dog on holiday with us and this cottage was brilliant. Comfortable with lots of outside spaces which were secure. We had a great time using rebel cinema when it was a wet day and black rock beach which is pet friendly all the year round for body boarding in the better days. Highly recommend Groom Cottage in Bude. Mrs Andrew’s the owner was responsive to any query and extremely thoughtful.

We arrived to a very cold cottage, the owner came quickly and sorted the heating out and supplied throws for us to use as blankets.

Property not suitable for elderly, disabled and young children due to all the steps between the rooms and very winding staircase. The owners were very nice.

Groom cottage is a quirky little cottage.

Inside is quite charming with everything you need for a comfortable stay. You need to be aware that the sofas are very low, although very comfortable, it was a struggle for my partner to get up and down, due to a knee problem. Also, the staircase is steep and narrow, with the two toilets being up there, not ideal for anyone with any mobility issues. We loved the character of the cottage and the history of it. The added bonus for us, was the use of the lovely swimming pool.We also made use of the table tennis and pool room. The laundry on site was immaculate. The outside garden areas of the cottage need some tidying up, although the front patio area was a pleasant place to sit. All in all, we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this lovely little cottage on this well maintained complex.....it just wasn't ideal for us at this time (bear in mind, the holiday was booked before my partners knee injury occurred)

Really lovely stay, cottage was cosy and fully equipped with everything we could possible need and more, we were able to settle in straight away.

The secure gardens were ideal for dogs and the conservatory was lovely and toasty in the February sun. Great location, walking distance to Crooklets and Bude town. Lovely pub a few minutes walk away. The swimming pool was a good size and changing facilities clean and comfortable. There were also floats/woggles/pool toys available so that was also a nice touch.

We had a great stay at groom cottage.

Our second stay at this complex. I have been coming to Bude since a child 50 + years. We only had one bad day and made good use of the pool. Everything was clean and nice to have the bed made up and towels. The Preston arms is a small but very welcoming pub/ restaurant serving food most of the day. The coast and Bude is a 2 mile walk away. Speedy communications with the owner and clear instructions and directions to groom cottage. Thank you for a welcome pack much appreciated.

Groom Cottage is a delightful and charming old farm cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here even though the weather was quite dismal . The facilities were kept meticulously clean - including use of the shared, heated pool and it’s changing rooms , children’s playground and use of the shared playroom. The kitchen was well equipped in this characterful cottage . The beds were comfortable and the pretty sunroom was a lovely room to eat in. We enjoyed our visit to Bude and would recommend the Preston’s Arms in the very attractive ancient village of Poughill less than half a mile away. We would love to return for another holiday , thank you

We didn’t find the overall cleanliness was delivered to a high standard.

Whilst the cottage was quirky as described, there wasn’t enough room for 2 dogs as described. The overall decor was tired and there was fading on the wall. The curtain rail upstairs has been fixed with gaffer tape rather than the pole being replaced.

No email received so when we arrived we had no idea how to get our key.

Lucky that a lady staying in a cottage opposite had a number for a Housekeeper. On entry we found a bone that had been left under the couch. The Garden area was very overgrown so those facilities we could not use. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped

This is a quirky, well equipped, clean, comfortable cottage in a lovely location.

The Bude area and beaches have to be among the best in this country and it's all on your doorstep from Groom Cottage. You've also got the added bonus of a private swimming pool on site. Another positive is the Prestongate Inn 5 minutes walk away, very busy pub, friendly staff and great food and beers. Just remember to book ahead, very popular. We look forward to another stay at Groom Cottage.

Lovely old cottage.

Smaller that expected but not a problem. Great little collection of homes and facilities on site. No major issues. Nice little walk to local pub which serves great food and drink but book in advance on busy nights. Garden could do with a tidy up not really able to take advantage of outside area unless it's tidy. Too overgrown

Cosy little cottage, very comfy beds had everything we needed.

The swimming pool was a lovely bonus too. And though there are other cottages near by it was still very quiet.

We could not use the shower as the water did not get hot even after running for ages.

The doors to the conservatory squeaked all night long. The fire did not work

We had a wonderful holiday.

The cottage was comfortable, lovely soft towels, well-equipped kitchen. As it was a cold week, we didn't use the outdoor seating areas or playpark much but the indoor pool was such a treat. We hope we can come back again.

The cosy cottage has lots of character and is in a great location for exploring the fantastic coast walks and beaches around Bude.

The indoor pool is well maintained and a big plus. Highly recommend the take away fish and chips from the Preston Gate in Poughill - we ate them while watching the sunset at Widemouth beach.

Cottage is quite small, but we managed fine! Lots to do in local area so we were kept busy!

It’s a very cute cottage within a complex of cottages. It has all you need and was really well equipped. Susan the owner was lovely, the only problem we had was a broken clothes airer which she replaced immediately. She also provided us with beach chairs and a windbreaker which was fab! The shared pool was brilliant, we used every day, the kids play area was popular with my eldest, but good to know you cannot see the play area from Groom Cottage. The local area is lovely would particularly recommend sandymouth beach ant Tintagel Castle. The cottage is small, the bedrooms are a decent size but living space is small so was a bit of a squeeze for 4 of us. The outside space is very cute with 2 small courtyard style gardens and a front patio. The courtyard gardens are filled with plants and very private which is nice. The front patio is more spacious and less private. The one and only thing I would change would be to add black out roller blinds to the upstairs bedroom windows so you have the option to use them. The south facing light comes in very early in summer, for a lot or people this is no problem but if like me I get woken up by light very easily. But that is the only thing. We had a wonderful stay and we were blessed with amazing weather. Would recommend.

10 minute walk to a great pub and only 5 minutes drive to the beautiful beach which is sog friendly!

On the website photos do not really show clearly the layout of the cottage and garden, a floor plan would help.

The website description led us to believe that the garden was one complete entity when in fact it was split into three seperate entities. In itself this was not a problem for guests, nor would it have been for a small dog. Unfortunately this was not suitable for a large dog like our german short haired pointer and to be fair and in retrospect I should have clarified this with the owner at time of booking. Other than that, the cottage itself and its facilities were good.

This quirky cottage is beautiful and everything you could wish for. The site itself has some fantastic facilities including a swimming pool, pool table and table tennis table. Close by and within walking distance is a gorgeous pub in Poughill called the Preston Gate Inn which serves good food and entertainment of an evening. I just want to personally thank the owners who were absolutely amazing, supportive and very accommodating to us when I received some sad news prior to our holiday. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back. This place is lovely xx

Perfect location facilities excellent, grounds perfectly maintained quirky, comfortable and cozy we loved it and so did our two collies had a blast, what a lovely place, great base too get out and explore definitely recommend

Small and compact cottage with a over whelming smell of dampness

We had an amazing week in Groom cottage.

The cottage facilities were great it’s a well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting area. The bedrooms were tastefully decorated and beds were comfortable. We made use of the lovely indoor pool every morning. The location was ideally placed to explore Bude, its’ lovely beaches and other coastal locations. We also loved having our Schnauzer with us and the site had ample space to allow him to have a roam around and a sniff! We look forward to a return trip to Groom cottage!

Knowing our dog was joining us Susan was kind enough to suggest some good dog walks that were an alternative to the obvious beach walks. We tried them all out and Bodie seemed to enjoy himself. The facilities at the site are great, we swam most mornings to work off the holiday excesses. We would definitely stay there again.

A beautiful quirky and characterful cottage!

We really enjoyed our relaxing break here, we visited outside of the school holidays so it was especially peaceful although it would be great for families at any time. Usually we could only hear birdsong & distant sheep in the mornings and had the lovely swimming pool all to ourselves every day. We would really recommend staying here; the owner left fresh milk, tea and kitchen and bathroom essentials which was really helpful. Stratton & Bude are also nearby and the Preston Gate Inn is particularly worth a visit!

We had a great holiday and the cottage was quaint and clean and exactly what we needed.

We appreciate the organisation of a last minute booking- the host contacted us about the keys and left a warm welcome in terms of a lovely welcome card, milk and biscuits to get us started with a cuppa! Wish we could have stayed longer! The pool and games room was a massive hit with the kids!

Amazing indoor swimming pool.

Lots of holiday brochures in pool entrance. Enjoyed history of cottage. Welcomed with milk, tea and Cornish biscuits. 3 safe enclosed garden/patio areas for dog to go in. Close to hustle and bustle of Bude and peaceful to return to.

This was our third year staying at Groom cottage and had another great stay.

Would highly recommend to all. Looking forward to next year

We booked Friday to Friday and left on Monday !

The cottage was very small and the stairs was very difficult to negotiate. Also the Television was frankly rubbish ... Finally the yard for our two dogs was very small and we had to travel 15 miles to find a decent wooded area to walk our two Cocker Spaniels.

Once again we have had a marvellous time , already looking forward to next years vacation.

Lovely cottage with lots to do. Owners were on hand if needed for any problems. This is the second time of staying at this cottage .

I stayed at another cottage last year.

this was bigger and better.the swimming pool on this site is super lovely and warm.also the changing rooms have been upgraded which is a huge improvement.

Groom cottage was a gorgeous quirky property and we had a fab time staying there.

Swimming pool was amazing and we went for a dip most days. The location was an easy 5min drive into Bude for the shops or Crooklet beach which was lovely and perfect for our kids rocks to climb rock pooling and waves to jump in along with sand for digging. Rosie's cafe much better inside and food than the outside would suggest.. only thing missing was a hairdryer in the property so remember to take your own.

We had a fabulous week away in groom cottage, perfect location to go off on day trips exploring Cornwall.

The cottage is very cosy and has everything there you would need to make your stay comfortable. Would definitely return if visiting this area again!
