“Fabulous spacious cottage but with areas to improve or be aware of.”

King size mattress requires replacing, you feel every spring as previous occupants have reported. Tumble dryer inoperative during our stay which we reported. Downstairs shower is very small and the lack of a shower upstairs is strange as has the look of a recent renovation with modern bath and mixer tap. Off road parking is great but the cottage is on a bend so caution is required when reversing into the drive and pulling out of the drive. Would also advise that a large SUV or estate car may not ...

Would also advise that a large SUV or estate car may not fit but you have the option of parking at the nearby pub. No garden furniture apart from a picnic bench. Kitchen very well equipped with absolutely everything you need. Two great rooms for relaxing in with big tv’s, one room will sit three the other 6. Upstairs bedrooms are of good size with plenty of storage as is the ground floor bedroom. The cottage is right on the A30 but once inside you don’t hear the traffic and a great location to access Sennen Cove. The cottage has been listed on Rightmove since August 2023 so would make a great investment but with a bit of upgrading required. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Forge Cottage but does require some work. Would we book again - yes - provided the mattress was replaced!

The property

Forge Cottage is delectably charismatic, deceptively spacious and desirably positioned within a half hour walk of Sennen Cove at Lands End.

This gorgeous granite cottage combines a fusion of iconic Cornish character and contemporary flair, and boasts a big interior with beams, distant sea views and sits a stones throw from a fabulous foodie pub. Within a short walk from the cottage, Sennen Cove offers a popular stretch of sand and ocean for swimming and bathing, ideal for paddling and picnics.

The arc of sand at Whitesands Beach faces the ocean so the water is good for surfers with a seasonal lifeguard service.

There's a pub, café and surfside restaurant for refreshment, and the sunsets spied here are wonderful.

At the western end of the beach, the dinky harbour retains a timeless quality and the catch of the day can be bought from the small fleet of fishing boats that trade from the quay.

The mile long stretch of sand at Sennen Beach reaches to Gwenver Beach, a much favoured spot with families.

This magical unspoilt corner of Cornwall boasts dramatic and rugged seascapes within easy reach; a real rambler's paradise along the coast path and cliff tops with panoramic views over the Atlantic.

The peninsula is a unique destination promising beautiful scenery, awesome 200 foot granite cliff drops and sandy beaches including stunning Porthcurno.

The Minack Theatre is a must-see attraction with seats and stage carved from the cliff face set against the ocean backdrop. Forge Cottage makes a superb homestay for families, friends and couples, with legroom for all to relax and find their own space.

There are two sitting rooms; a cosy nook with a wood burner for fireside snugness, and a bright and modern glass ceilinged haven for all to gather.

Socialise around the dining table and feast well from kitchen creativity.

The bedrooms guarantee distant sea views or country vistas and the enclosed, private garden is a proper suntrap.

Enjoy lazy breakfasts, pasty lunches, four o'clocker cream teas and alfresco evening tipples.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

SENNEN

Land’s End 1 mile; St Just 5 miles; Penzance 9 miles.

The most westerly village in mainland Britain, Sennen has a lovely mile-long beach of pure white sand and is a very popular holiday destination. With excellent surfing conditions, the village has its own surf school – overlooked by a super-cool beach bar/restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows which make the most of the wonderful views. Once a hub of smuggling activity, Sennen still retains many secret passages – one of which is said to lead to the covered well in the Old Success Inn. Largely unchanged over time, this lovely village has a timeless appeal and is home to a gallery, a medieval church, an Iron Age fort and a small selection of shops where you can buy beachware, gifts and souvenirs, and a range of groceries. There is also a weekly Farmers’ Market in the village Community Centre each Tuesday morning. During the summer, the beach bar becomes a hub of activity and entertainment, with live music, weekly barbecues and popular surfing competitions.
