An exclusive development

Sea the View lounge and dining

Designed and built as an exclusive development by Karl Callighan, the property has far-reaching views across the Cornish countryside with beautiful glimpses out to sea. Guests will be able to explore the wonders of West Cornwall from their doorstep. Nanjizal Beach and Sennen Cove are close by, and guests can take an exhilarating walk along the South West Coast Path to see the ancient ruins of Maen Castle and Mayon Cliff Shipwreck.

Our Cornish Cottage Holidays team was drafted in by the owner of the property from the outset, and helped discover fabulous bespoke pieces to make Sea the View truly unique in a crowded holiday home market.

For many guests, a holiday home is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions; romantic getaways, birthdays, an anniversary or honeymoon. Guests are willing to pay a premium and expect the price to reflect the quality with good investment in interior design, fixtures and fittings.

Bookings from couples or groups of couples make up 41% of staycation bookings* and can be your bread and butter during the off-peak months. In this blog we take a look at how luxury interiors, with key features like those used at Sea the View, create a unique property rental which is desirable to potential guests.

Sea the View bathroom

Filled with beautiful furnishings throughout, including statement Heritage copper style bathtubs in both bedrooms and an imposing chandelier to greet you as you make your way upstairs, Sea the View is not your average two-bedroom holiday property.

With plush fabrics and a real wow factor in the Venetian plaster on feature walls, no stone has been left unturned in the effort to create a truly decadent holiday home for guests to enjoy.

Sea the View has a fabulous, social, open-plan living space. The room has been beautifully designed with a chic seating area and woodburning stove, impressive wall-mounted TV, modern kitchen and stylish dining area.

Maintaining a sense of outdoor-indoor living was an important aspect of the build for owner Karl; “The doors linking the garden to the living space makes the garden feel as if it could almost be an interior room. The sun is there all day long as it is south facing, it will be a very nice house for guests to enjoy throughout the year.”

There is an abundance of outdoor seating from hammocks to the handcrafted sunset bar, complete with swings, providing guests with the chance to truly live the Cornish lifestyle from the comfort of their holiday home. Picture sitting on a swing, sipping a cocktail at the end of the day. It’s the epitome of absolute bliss.

Q&A with the owner about creating a luxury holiday let

Sea the View bedroom

We spoke to Karl, the owner of Sea the View, who shared his story on creating a luxury holiday let.

Are you pleased with how the property has turned out?

“Yes, absolutely. I have high hopes for Sea the View. Location wise, being at Sennen Cove, it’s an up and coming place and it’s a great area and the property will be part of that.”

Why location of a holiday let is key – Sennen Cove

Karl specifically chose Sennen Cove and the location of this property because of the array of things to do in the local area for guests to enjoy. Karl said; “The private road, Sunny Corner Lane, next to the house takes you to the footpath for Sennen – walking to touch the sand is 8-10 minutes, 5 minutes if you run!

In the other direction, you can see Porthcurno from the property. There is a beautiful route to get there, which is just a 6-minute drive or a 45-minute walk through the fields. I do a lot of cliff walks and the best spots are from Sennen to Porthcurno, and the whole Headland of Lands End, it is my favourite place and the beaches are a paradise in the summer.”

What do you think guests will most enjoy about the property?

“There are some great walks really close by near the beach and coast. I think guests will love cooking nice meals and enjoying fine wines by the coast. It is a very relaxing place and everything is handmade and bespoke.”

What have you done differently to your other properties?

“I’ve learnt a lot from my other properties and have really made sure to spend the extra money to make sure they have something even more special and unique. I think people will be blown away. It has blown me away (seeing it all come together the way it has).”
