Bedruthan Steps, half way between Newquay and Padstow, is a large and sandy beach which is dotted with large rocks. These rocks were, according to legend, stepping stones for the Giant, Bedruthan. The only access to the beach is down a narrow set of steps which have been cut into the side of the cliff. These steps are closed throughout the winter, opening for the season on 1st March each year. At high tide, the beach becomes inaccessible. There is a National Trust car park and a cafe at the top of the cliffs, and there are toilets. The sea here has strong currents and is therefore not suitable for swimming in. This beach is dog friendly all year round.
