Nestled on the outskirts of St Austell, overlooking the South Coast, experience the historic harbour village of Charlestown from the comfort of one of our holiday cottages.

Why a Charlestown cottage?

Unravel Charlestown’s maritime history at the Grade II Listed Harbour, a prime example of a late Georgian working port. The unspoilt harbour retains much of its Georgian character and is home to a famous collection of period ships that have been used in many well known films and television programmes. Charlestown Harbour and its ships have been used as a key filming location for the BBC’s Dr Who and Poldark, as well as a recent production of Alice in Wonderland.

Wander along the pebbly harbour beach, ideal for rock pooling and fishing, or sit and enjoy the relaxing calm. If you are after golden sands, take the coastal path to Porthpean Beach, providing a choice of water sport activities and swimming areas.

Places to visit near Charlestown

If exploration takes you further afield, the tropical biomes of the Eden Project are just a short drive away. For stunning walking, cycling and riding routes travel along the mixed landscapes of the China Clay Trails, near St. Austell.

After a day of sightseeing, fun on the beach or countryside walks, retire to your cosy Charlestown cottage to plan another day’s adventure.
