This sheltered beach is mainly sandy with some shingle, and provides a fabulous spot for families. There is a smaller cove behind the main beach which runs alongside the harbour.

A stream runs down the main beach to the sea, providing a fresh water rinse for sandy feet and paws. The beach is very popular with families and surfers, and is home to Portreath Surf Life Saving Club. The town has several small cafes and shops, as well as public toilets. There is a car park at the beach as well as ample roadside parking, although parking spaces are taken quickly during the summer months due to the beach's popularity. There is a seasonal dog ban on the beach so please check the times and dates before you step onto the sand.
