Loe Bar beach is the stretch of sand which separates the lake from the sea at Porthleven. The beach is sandy with grassy areas but is a designated 'red flag' area as there are very strong currents; it is recommended you do not swim at this beach. There is no car park at the beach, but there is parking along the road from Porthleven. It should take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to walk to the beach from here. Access to the beach is limited as it is not a stable slope but as the footpath crosses from one side to the other, it is easy if one is active and wearing appropriate footwear. The nearest toilets to the beach are in Porthleven village. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year round.
