Discover Tintagel, set high on the rugged North Cornwall coast nestled between Padstow and Bude. Immersed in history and boasting dramatic natural settings, pick a Tintagel holiday cottage and explore this fascinating destination.

Why a Tintagel cottage?

The village of Tintagel is known as King Arthur Country. Legend has it that King Arthur died at Slaughterbridge near Ford, but his spirit returned to Tintagel, where his fortress once stood. The current ruins are said to have been built on the same site in 1140AD by Earl Richard of Cornwall. After exploring the castle, discover the remains of a Celtic Monastery and the tunnel known as Merlin’s Cave.

If you are wanting to learn even more about the local history, you will find a number of attractions a short distance from your Tintagel accommodation. Such as the Arthurian Visitor Centre and the National Trust’s atmospheric Tintagel Old Post Office with ancient architecture and a delightfully wonky roof. If you are looking for something more active, hike along the South West Coastal Path at your leisure, with some simply magnificent scenery motivating you.

After a busy day of exploring, browse Tintagel’s culinary options, boasting a range of local dishes that will please all types of tastes. Charlie’s Café Restaurant boasts a range of sweet treats to delicious deli choices all inside the charm of a converted cottage. Brimming with beer and lovely settings, Tintagel Brewery welcomes a delightful range of alcoholic beverages among some delicious pub grub.
